I was wondering the same about charms. They said no talisman, but the charms are still listed there... Maybe it's just a typo.
They might have had the page ready for a while and made the talisman decision recently... still, hoping they give us an update on this
Yeah a little confusion there but I'm sure bashiok will clear things up soon.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
Is removing the runestone just a matter of clicking on it and putting it back in your inventory?
No, you must go to your jeweler and have them take it out. It will cost gold to remove runes from your skills.
This will keep people from just trying out every rune in 4 hours (or w/e runes they have). Though if you hover the rune over the skill I'm pretty sure it will give you a description of what changes it will make.
“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” - Albert Einstein
Yeah you definitely get a tooltip, but the tooltip would have to be on the skill. If you put it on the runestone itself, the tooltip would fill the screen
Any given skill has 5 associated rune effects, which is doable in a tooltip.
Any given runestone has up to like 26 skills than need to be mapped.
So yeah, if there is to be a tooltip, it would have to be on the skill.
Cut the Talisman out of the initial release - and they aren't going to work on it now to make it better (for now). That just shows that they are trying to complete this game and get it ready for release. This is a great sign.

I haven't thought about runestones since original vid 3 years ago. Someone refresh my memory, you just pick one stone to go in a weapon socket right? It's not like you can combine these or use more than 1 in other items?

No, no, no. Runestones don't get put into items at all. There's a (single) slot for each skill in your skillbook that you can drop runestones in then you get the bonus effect for that one skill.
Such a hardcore set of videos, loved the variations on the cluster arrow ability especially (the indigo swirly frost ray was awesome too).
My guess is that how badass a skill looks will be the biggest factor in most people's skill choices, just because it's so hard to ignore how fucking awesome some of those look. I know I'm definitely not worrying about what's "most powerful" until I've at least finished normal. I'mma just grab the most hardcore looking skills and flail my mouse until things die <3

I think they could have chosen a more interesting skill to show the rune demos on the witch doctor, right?
That was my point. Of all the skills I didn't want to see him puking up green acid slime. "What happened to you?" "Got puked on by a Witch Doctor in the PvP arena."
Puking on someone as a fatal blow is definitely a win in my book.
I went back and looked again. I scrolled to fast down. The best one so far has to be the Whirlwind of the Barb. Wizard and Demon hunter are a tie for second best. Monk looks alright, but the Witch Doctor, not my favorite.
Oh, the wizard's ray of frost with the Indigo rune has got to be my favorite. I don't care, I can see myself running to the middle of the arena and spamming that without doing anything else, just for the awesomeness of it. Ofc then I'll proly die but that's just detail.
I know, wasn't that one great? And look at all the detail on the animation--her blowing clothes, her posture, even the special effects, themselves, look so awesome and legit It looks powerful! I hope it is. Don't let me down, Blizzard
Yeah, the detail was really amazing. I mean, Blizzard really scored this one. Even though they kept us waiting a long time, we can actually SEE the effort they're putting in the game. And well, it looks powerful, we can't actually tell until we've compared it to other stuff in-game but since it reaches a 360 degree radius, it looks like a really good tool to use against a swarm of weak melee mobs, what do you think?

I mean, can you imagine setting your opponents on fire before putting them to fight themselves? Would be awesome. Or maybe cursing them, reducing their armor so they die even faster when they fight, something like that
The only thought I have on this, will the skills, Runewords or not, cancel each other out. Like casting one Necro curse then followed by another right away.

Well, I can say from feedback and testing we've made the decision to pull the Talisman from the initial release of the game.
It was a cool idea at its core, but right now it's just really too basic and doesn't provide anything you can't get from the armor and weapons you're equipping. It requires a lot of the player to invest time and energy into finding and storing yet another type of item just to add player stats. When they do all that, it's just to do something pretty boring that they can already do with awesome things like armor and weapons. Originally the Talisman had a much deeper design, but it proved very ambitious and it got whittled down over the years to a very basic +stat per single square. We like simplicity in our designs, but charms became superfluous in their purpose.
We really like the core idea, but we don't want to stop everything and spend a large amount of time trying to fix the Talisman, although we do have some great ideas already. So, it'll very likely come back in some form or another after the game ships. And be awesome.
Making games for the ADD generation.
HAHAHA true that, although I shouldn't be saying that since i'm 17, and probably part of that generation >.>
You should see this topic on the D3 forums. This guy was saying guild wars 2 was gonna be better than D3 because the pre-rendered cutscenes looked better than D3..... lol
I liked it better when I was 10-ish and never picked up on these type of things that may or may not have existed.

good question, I'm not sure. But wouldn't it be a little OP if they didn't? Not sure how exactly they will work, or if there's gonna be different types of curses and debuffs so can't really tell. What I think should stack are debuffs coming from different characters, for example, slow from wizard and some curse from WD. This would be something nice to hear from in a blue post
Talisman's only modified your stats, which armor, weapons, and jewelry already do. It's a supurfluous mechanic. Unless it's going to be changed so that it does something other than that, I'm not crying that it's gone!

How I am ever to build a character in this game is beyond me...there's just so many choices I can't see myself ever deciding which runes I like the best on my skills
