Well we used to have a thread in the General Polls section, but it has died done, and is likely long gone and forgotten by most of us that posted there. That I find very unfathomable due to this summer being a very... active and lively one, by anyone's standards, I am sure.
Since last thread was titled for last season, and was a poll more-less, and is also now dead - I think its time we ought to bring this community's basketball fans back up for a chat, aye mates?
So talk, talk away, my lovely basketball fans!
As for myself, I am enjoying it greatly: Dallas, Orlando and Toronto have gone under major overhauls. Toronto only keeping 3 of its players that it had at the beginning of last season: Jos? Calderon, Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani. I am pumped, but I don't want to get ahead of myself, especially after last year's disaster. =( Lets hope we can keep our heads together this year, and go a round or two into the playoffs for once!

After toronto's 2008-2009 complete fiasco (33W-49L) ... ouch, I don't know if they'll be able to reconstruct the team to create a great chemistry and be competitive (against superpowers such as the Lakers + Cavaliers) :(. At least they got Turkoglu and he should go well with the remaining 3 players + rookie DeRozan. Still, I'm gonna have to say the 2009-2010 season will, in fact, be a very interesting one for the Jurrassic Raptors
i hardly watch it anymore.
the standard has dropped so much compared to the 90s
It has, I know. We've lost a ton of great players, some didn't even get to show their whole potential because of injuries (Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, anybody?). But I still love cheering my favourite teams on And it is still exciting and fun every year, unless Detroit, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston do well and clog the latter rounds of the finals, then the NBA becomes stagnant and boring.

Would be cool if Steven Jackson comes to Dallas too. People are saying we should trade Josh Howard for him but I don't know how that would work out.
I agree with Kalutzii for sure on this point because Stephen Jackson is a leader and the go-to guy on GSW, and I don't think he could except a bench role, even if it is with a championship caliber team. However, if he did learn to accept a role, and the Mavs wouldn't go over the cap (and didn't lose Josh Howard) then it would be a great fit, as he and Terry could provide a huge burst of offense off the bench.

well, all American team sports would be better if they didn't use a communist system to run them.
where success is punished so that there would be an "even" playing field.
that is why football is so successful around the world and not american football.
Teams get to build on their success and can get even more successful (generally speaking)

basically, supporting MUFC or Real Madrid is like rooting for GE or Microsoft. whats the point? basketball evens the playing field only by the draft, letting the bad teams get a chance at becoming good.
but im a big fan of Chelsea soo...haha
anyways my Hawks are gonna shock everyone this year. i feel it.

you can always choose to root for a crap team, yes i know you did
the draft is just a way to punish success.
like i said, communist
pshhh Chelsea are the champs this year, they should have been CL champs too but UEFA fcked them over with a match fix.
big market clubs like New york and Boston and LA always snatch up better players because they can afford to spend more on players salaries and because players want to go there. that leaves small clubs like minnesota or memphis reliant on the draft for success.
while its always fun to root for the underdog (Bulls v. Celtics anyone? :D), watching poor teams in the CL like Celtic get mauled by the likes of Arsenal or Barca isnt very fun all the time.

Well the NBA season is gonna be coming to a start very soon and I wanted to keep this thread alive..soo..
I like how my favorite team (Mavs) plays my second favorite team and home team (Wizards) in the first game of the season. It will hopefully show how much the Wizards have improved over the offseason since they will be playing a good team.

We just picked up Rasheed, Daniels from indiana, plus resigned big baby. Add that to our starting 5.
Boston will be hard to beat by any team.
