It's threads like this that make me not even log into my account anymore. Not like I did a ton in the first place, but I mean. I tried for awhile, and just...
I hate to be over dramatic, but it makes me feel like this thread is the embodiment of everything that has gone wrong with Diablofans.
It just makes me sad, thats all.
Edit: Yes, I get what Huck is saying.
He's right. And it makes me sad.
Now look at the words 'democratic' and 'republic'.
I mean that's how I looked at this thread. Humorous way of pointing out the hypocrisy behind North Korea's regime. I may be wrong though. Huck give us some extra clue, will you.
well, "republic", "democracy", "freedom" are words with a very positive connotation, so this type of regimes or governments use (or abuse) them as a way to legitimate their own image in the eyes of citizens... even though in essence they are not democratic for example....
It's simply a ridiculous thread, which is condoned since it's in the Off Topic section. Some people disagree with that, some people are indifferent and some people find it hilarious.
At least, that's the way I see it now in a nutshell.
that's it?? all this debate because of the off topicness of the off topic section??
[rant]why don't start a real discussion instead of making some obscure and immature rant about something that not only doesn't change with it, but it gets deeper??
I find at least intriguing how people that complain about the quality of the discussions in this section don't participate in creating some interesting and creative topic/thread, and blame others about the loss of quality of the "debates" that goes on...

Well I didn't read everyone else's comments, so forgive me if the discussion has moved beyond the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, although I can't imagine it. I did skim through a little and saw something about cookies. I assume that's just about delicious Democratic People's Republic of Korea cookies.
Thanks for the link Huck, North Korea sounds lovely, I think I'll visit in August for the Liberation from Japan and Mass Gymnastics trip mentioned on the Korean Friendship Association's portion of the site.
I love their 13 pages of propaganda merchandise in the shop section. But someone should really tell the Democratic People's Republic of Korea that the word propaganda has a bad connotation in the west. They should really rename those sections patriotic apparel and merchandise, we love that stuff here.^_^
Did anyone else read the Reunification page? Those Americans are really awful. I mean, Peace, Friendship and Independence are the hopes of the Korean people but the U.S.A. isn't interested on it, and every year with the support of the South Korean Army they display big military maneuvers like the 'Ulji Focus Lens' or 'Team Spirit with the purpose of invading and dominate the North. How mean. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea would never do something like that. Really, who would they try to intimidate? Their Southern friends and relatives? Japan maybe? I can't believe the South is still controlled by the imperialist interests and the U.S. troops.
Why can't they just be nice to the Dear Leader:QQ:
It is Supreme Leader stoaster.
Or you can go with eternal president.
And also, all the persisting torture, slave labor, famine while spending loads on nuclear research and testing makes NK the top republic and democracy in the world.
So many things to learn from them.
No...no...no cookies for those supreme ass&%*#@
Cookies are only for good people. Cookies for the people of NK. Not for the dictator and his dogs.

Eternal President refers to Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il is the Dear Leader or Great Leader. I'm not sure if they use Supreme Leader or not.
But in all seriousness, I did read all the posts in the thread prior to leaving my rather sarcastic comment and yes, North Korea is pretty screwed up. When I was still working on my degree, I took a seminar on international Asian politics. We had a great many discussions regarding the political situation there. Sadly, I don't think any major improvement will be seen there until Kim Jong Il croaks and even then it's a gamble based on how the power shifts afterwards.

I find the thread hilarious. The site was ridiculous. One of the better off-topic threads I have seen in awhile.
