If helms don't even show up properly and gives completely different results, the game officially fails. In D2, the helms looked like they should, if they can't do it in D3...
But I'm pretty sure its because its an early video..
I don't. When something shows up properly on your character or not, makes a huge difference.
I have no idea what you are babbling about with Memory and etc. Each character will need to be rendered individally, and beside if they have different class it would look difference - and the game won't constantly keep all armor models in memory or something. I don't see why it would, it takes an extremely small time to load and can simply do so when needed.
I'm going to take WoW as an example here. Was there additional armor models? Yes, but not that many. A LOT of items looks the same, but have drastically different textures or tint.
Bashiok may mean that there are a set models of armors done for the classes, and they are not adding more. Doesn't mean the armors won't look like they should, unless they have lazy texturing.
Alright, that statement is disappointing. Its too vague, though. I could find a thousand things to deduct from it. In the end, it really doesn't tell us much.
Just let me assure you that visual armour progression in D3 works the same way it did in D2. To some it may be bad news, to some good news. I personally don't know (or care too much).

I wish that armor would look the same way on the character as it did in the inventory screen. Not everyone would look the same if there was enough diversity of armor out there. Plus, if leggings, shoulder pads, and everything else showed up as it should, than there would be plenty of diversity out there.
I know that D3 isn't doing this, and I know that it will be similar to D2, but it's still annoying.
Did I miss anything? In a video with the Barbarian, you see him equip a few things and you can clearly see that its not working at all like D2.
All chars would look the same when using some low level armor, and would get kind of repetitive in that way, in D2 I was curious to see how the same armor looked on another character, and I hope that is still there in D3.
Okay...
Except I don't actually remember a single piece of armor that gave any memorable look?
They all look the same to me.
In one of D3's video, its already pretty obvious that its not at all like D2, its actually like WoW. Most piece of armor show up on your character, and they should look way more like they should.
I hope this truly is because its in early stage.
