I wish auction house would come back, because only a game that earns money gets attention from Blizzard. Yeah the old AH was cancer, but there has to be a better way of implementing it.
Part of me agrees. But, a big part of me disagrees because if you can just spend real money to get mats and gear, then it will create a lot of resentment with players who put in the time to grind. Maybe they could do something similar to Rift and make the very highest tier of gear tied to dungeon instances and raids that would be soul bound.
Real money should not and should NEVER have been a part of the AH. THat was the only mistake, and they were to ignorant to listen to the players.
We want REALLY LOW DROP RATES, but a GOLD CENTERED AH. We DID NOT WANT a P2W system like the RMAH was creating.
*You brought up something interesting to me mentioning "tiers of gear". What if the drops we got in GR's had higher stats than the gear that drops in rifts? Rifts are about collecting mats and keys. What if a GR 40 gave you gear that has 10% higher main stats, GR50 is 10% higher than that, GR60 is 10% higher than that, etc......
This would make GR's more about just a number on the leaderboard, or a way to grind Paragon, and actually about getting STRONGER GEAR. The complication would come with how the game interacts with Ancients, but it would really be cool to see a "tier gear system" in my opinion!
It is a lot cheaper to make a D3 expansion and with a few nice incentives it will still sell very well. If they will not release another EXP for diablo 3 one thing is clear they have no idea where to go with this game as time and time they have shown us.
Exactly, I can see it now:
"Pre-Order your copy of D3 Xpac2 and get this pet, these wings, this banner, and a Diablo Pet for WoW, Diablo card backs for Hearthstone, unlock all Diablo related skins in Heroes, AND unlock Tyrael's wings in Overwatch."
Even if Diablo 4 could be just speculation - rumors about it already points to how low Diablo 3 has fallen for the fan base. Fans wanting very drastic changes to the game makes it feel like an expansion isn't even worthy, so why not just create a whole new game?
Well, we heard this story regarding vanilla, and RoS made the game pretty darn good.
The issue is that the game they designed was not designed for long haul survival. They thought easier to obtain gear and seasons was going to keep people excited, instead, it literally DESTROYED THE CONCEPT OF THE GAME!!! Instead, the game should be centered around era's, maybe 6 months each, with lower drop rates, and the removal of sets, so that there are numerous build variations to attempt to succeed with.
Set powers can be added to the cube, making all gear slots viable and lowering drop rates of gear would go a long way to bringing life back to Diablo 3 with or without an expansion.
Adding to the tin-foil. Travis Day's secret project is overhauling character stats. They did it once when he worked on WoW. Why not here? He's even expressed interest in doing it, but that there wasn't enough time to.
Well, it is an interesting concept for sure, but I would look at something like this as a final step to maintenance mode, and not a good sign for D3's future. Which is entirely possible!
However, there is a few scenarios where a numbers overhaul could lead to much of what we want. MAINLY, A GAME BASED ON GEAR, NOT PARAGON. I say this because most system overhauls with stats are not just a pruning, but usually a complete redesign of the entire system's inputs and outputs.
Can someone explain to me the reasons (and stuff) that can support the D4 annoucement?
I don't know too much about it even because I started playing D3 - RoS again this month (after a year of not playing it) and to me there isn't too much that can support D4 annoucement. I know that the Diablo team isn't very active nowadays but I think that if they will make something to D3 it will be a second expansion but not D4. Thanks and sorry about my english I still learning it.
PS: I play on PS4, can't join the master race becausd it is too expensive for me in my country.
There are tons of theories out there like a purposeful mistake on D4 D&D dice given out in a goody bag, or the new logo being a square (4 sides, 4 corners, etc....).
Most importantly, it is the 20th anniversary, you know as well as I do that SOMETHING will happen, whether it is D4 or not, who knows?
As long as newbs like you try to troll the topic, it is very obvious it has a future. Because even people that do not give a rats arse about the franchise sit and talk about it lmfao.
I could see them hiring a new staff if they decide they want to take a completely new direction but finish the current story.
In fact, if we do get news of Xpac 2, it is possible it releases shortly after announced, much like new wings in Hearthstone were, or surprise open overwatch beta access, etc..... Not saying December or January, but a February or March release could be possible if all the design and concept work was already done by the old crew before they moved on or if the new crew has a better grasp of how to make said concept successful.
you can rule out world of diablo. why threaten the big wave legion is swimming on top now?
This could not be further from the truth. Similar games can easily hold a market, especially from the same company.
Further, a game such as "world of diablo" would not really be like WoW in terms of raids etc.... All it would really be is what we have now, with towns to trade in, reputations to earn, etc.... but it would not be this massively dynamic world like WoW is.
You do realize that "unannounced project" can easily be D3 expansion 2 right?
I still think all signs point to D3 Expansion 2 to be honest, but we will find out in around 15 hours from now.

I honestly voted for everything, GO BIG OR GO HOME for a 20th anniversary slogan, because if they do not go big, I WILL GO HOME and stick to Legion!
