I don't precisely imagine the Abyss as a prison, more the space which encompasses all of creation. A prison indicates a higher purpose or otherwise intellect behind it, while something from where everything comes from still allows Heaven and Hell to be the top "gods" or whatever you want to call them.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

That creates a paradox. For to destroy Baal, we would obviously have to use destruction. Wouldn't destruction directed against him then only give him strength though?
As Ormus said it: "How does one destroy Destruction? How does one force Terror to flee in fear. You have great tasks ahead of you Ormus thinks."

Hmm. Half a Diablo doesn't inspire much fear when he most needs it, but when he is fully powered and spreads fear like wildfire, he doesn't need it anymore

Well, neither Andariel or Duriel seemed to have gotten any stronger, though there really was no reference to compare with, so I don't see that happening. But maybe it will.

I also share your belief, but for different reasons.
1. The game's name is Diablo. He's been the focus for two games. It would feel strange without him in it.
2. How can you compare Lesser Evils to Greater Evils. Wouldn't it be logical to assume that they would be far easier to defeat, and that Heaven would be at a giant advantage if the Three weren't present?

The important question here though relating to the soulstones is: Will Diablo, after being resurrected,no longer have the crystal in his forehead, and won't that make him look strange?

...although i hope its not mephisto. He is so lazy he just floats around!
Arguably, but he looks better than Baal. Was anyone else as surprised as me when you realised that he is not sitting in a chair in the intro movie, but standing on his legs?
Zombie Diablo? Bleh, would ruin Diablo's badass looks

I agree with Elfen. Some evil entity will bring them back much i nthe same way as the demon Izual was imprisoned in was summoned.
I'll bet that the adventurer eventually kills either Belial or Azmodan, and the other one that survives panics and brings back the Three, and in doing so loses all the power he had acquired.
Or perhaps there are other planes of Hell with other powerful Evils that we (or perhaps everyone, Heaven included) have yet to encounter.

Yeah, a unison of all evils will most likely happen. Or if not then the opposition will be killed by Diablo & Co
