i was the one who posted the thread here about the previous version of the cover, and my source is pcgamer's site itself. check my posts to see the original thread. they DID change it, and the new cover is right on blizzards website.
its because d3 will probably be at blizzcon and they once again want to be the ones to announce their own product. pcgamer knew about sc2 before hand so its not crazy to assume they know whats up with d3.
i definitely agree, but what everyone doesnt see is that this will be someone talking with blizzard about where diablo 3 actually is, instead of all this speculation we have had up until now. and the release of this issue sort of coincides with blizzcon, which is also in august if im correct?
the prevelant letters are there, and the blue at the end is definitely a question mark. that is obvious because the question is "What ever happened to DIABLO III?"
i started on something with photoshop but i got lazy. i think we all know whats going on here, and someone is going to make something anyway.
the big indicator for me is the letter L, even with the blur, the shape of the letter is quite obvious. based on the width of the 3/III compared to the width of each letter, its definitely a III to observe blizzards use of roman numerals.
yeah, its definitely blurred well, but just enough pixels are left to cause a stir and get the blizzard fans wondering. they are doing a damn good job.
EDIT: after looking again, i am 90% convinced its diablo 3. im messing with photoshop to highlight why i say this.
hey guys, im new here and wanted to make this my first post. i saw this mentioned on the diablo 2 battle.net forums. its a link to pc gamer's announcements about their upcoming cover stories. august's cover is adorned by starcraft 2. pc gamer claims to have taken a trip to blizzard and knew all about starcraft 2 long before may 19th. seems believable because of a company of their prowess in the pc gaming community.
the important part: if you look down in the corner of the magazine, they ask the question "What ever happened to..." and then words are blurred out. it might be me, but it looks like it says "DIABLO 3" or "DIABLO III". it is in a seemingly deep orange font, which makes sense for diablo. whats more, is that its a very important and valid question since it was a tossup of whether it was starcraft 2 or diablo 3 being announced. once starcraft 2 was announced, we all asked what about diablo 3? i think pc gamer is going to tell us.
