You make me wish to apply myself. :D

Your costume designs, do you draw them all by hand, or do you alter with using your Mac as well?

Lmao. I draw them all by hand... and then sew them by machine... finish them by hand... a little dab of blood and all.;)

Ahh, I see. I was under the impression that people who needed that sort of work done just to those respective companies and offered them the contract. And that those video companies just waited for business like any other company would.

An Avid? I'm either not sure or just don't remember.

Well, I guess the closest thing these days to working for one company, like in the Studio days, is if you work for one of the effects houses. In those companies you are one of a hundred or more other visual effects artists and work on assignments offered to you regardless of the project.

Regardless, they all work for a Production Designer... we are the ones who hire those special effect or CGI houses.

It's fascinating work that is only getting better and better... and MUCH more involved than it ever was. This means, of course, that the Production Designer needs to have MANY more tricks up their sleeve.

I love it! I design costumes as well... I've designed over 50 shows in LA for the stage and have worked on about 15 films. My film career is still very young. MORE TO COME!;)

That's cool. What company do you work for?

It was nice when we worked on our short films. The girl on our team, her dad works for a video production company. And we were able to use this little room where they had with these two older Macs in it (since they all all their uber Macs all over the rest of the building). Well actually, I think it was one Mac but it was set up so you were using to monitors for it. Like, you could move the cursor between monitors. It was nice cause there was so much editing to do that we have lots of long bars of video and audio that needed to be cut or reinserted.

These days there really aren't companies you work for. I freelance. Mostly for the same few Producers and Directors... all word of mouth.

Oooh... I do love the dual monitor action. My BF is a graphic designer and wields the dual monitors like a lvl91 Sassy... it's awesome!

Were you editing on an Avid?

Oh and another thing - if the BlizzCon schedule looks bad for the announcement of Diablo III, then when the hell is World of Warcraft's expansion annoucement scheduled? I don't see an opening for that either.

    Touche, AcidReign!;)

There's thing about either system that both impresses and frustrates me. What I like about the PC is if I'm unsure how to do something, I can usually figure it out in no time. But with Macs I seem to fumble around a bit more. I don't use widgets much or that where when you move your pointer to one of four corners it does a different function.

I think Macs are the best thing Apple makes. I hate their iPods though and frivolity of the new iPhone. And I especially hate all the other spinoff products that begin with a lower case, yet pretentious "i".

But most people I know who are into recording their own music, making their own films, etc; they all swear by their Macs. And one day I would like to get my own with a nice camcorder and all that fancy junk.
    ;)
Can't wait for you to be swimin' in fancy junk!

well i understand for video editing,
but still. a pc can do what a mac can and more.
more bang for your buck. imo

Once again, my intent to start this thread was not to start a platform war or start the inane "my dad's bigger than your dad" rants that most PC users start.

There obviously aren't any Mac users here... which is what I was hoping to find... no need to pop in with a PC jab.

Look, we all on the same forum and play the same game. None of us are "video" editors and all of us want bangs for our bucks. Cut the grandstanding OTC-esaul. I've been using "pc's" and mac's since before you were born and I'm not interested in your PC oppinion. That is not why I started this thread.

    ::and she huffs and flourishes::;)

Like, cause you'll give me pointers? Or you'll give me your Mac. Have you uploaded any of your stuff on YouTube or any other video sites?

No, nothing on YouTube. I'm a Production Designer... I'm not the one that gets to decide to put the film anywhere. I just Design it.;)

Well, for now I really enjoy my PC for lots of stuff. But I want to seriously get into making short films and I've done lots of editing on Macs before and I really like them for that. One day indeed.:D

I am a filmmaker myself. When you're ready for a Mactransition... let me know.;)

    I can't afford a Mac. Or I'd get one.

I've had a Mac since the first in '84. My latest was made possible by student loans and discounts. Otherwise, I couldn't afford it either.

    One day, Siaynoq... one day.;)

I certainly don't use a Mac, and I don't really plan on it.

No worries AR. We'll still venture on the same Battle.net.;)

Indeed. Be wary of these kinds of post as we get closer to Blizzcon. They're mere gobbledygook.

    I can just picture it...

Last day and everyone is just starting to leave, then over the PA comes Deckard Cain, "Stay a while and listen".

On a large screen they play a trailer for D3 then close the convention.

Sweet dreams are made of this, Shere Khaan.;)

For fear of staring a platform war... I am very curious if there are any Diablo Players out there on Mac's.

Mac users, in the gaming community, at least to me (one myself), feel like lepars on a tiny little island.

What has your gaming experience been like?
What have you had to adapt to?
Have you made the ultimate sacrifice?
Would you cross platforms for a game?

    Looking forward to it.
