Call it what it is though; a drawing and not a contest. Thats like half way through the Olympics if the comittee decided just to hand out medals via raffle tickets. You'd have a lot of pissed off athletes. Imagine how that taekwondo dude would react. lol.

This site isn't run by blizzard...

Although, it would just take a few hours to half a day of someone devoted to it. I've read through forum topics this big in a few hours, and picking out the best wouldn't have been a problem (since most of the people broke the rules, and all you need to do is mark down the good ones that follow the rules, then go back to those later to narrow them down to 20)

I'm glad to see the person who put so much effort into the post (and even drew concepts) won. S/he obviously put a lot of work into it.

Me too, but they won randomly. They should have won on the merits of their work, not on a random drawing that was supposed to be a contest. They should have won on that great post. Others should have won on their great posts. Instead others who just registered with 1-2 posts won with pitiful contributions.

Do you realize how long it would take to read every contest submission and then decide which 20 are the best? It would be nearly impossible.

    You are underestimating Blizzard's resources.

Congratulations to the winners! I hope you have fun with your Tyrael pets. :P

Grats on this site doing a mediocre job. I was a big fan of this site. Calling a drawing a contest is a farce. Now you're razzing the people who actually cared. The only thing this site ever had going for it was squatting on Blizzard's IP.

Wow. I put a lot of thinking into my contribution only to find out that I could have just posted one sentence which could be any useless dribble and win? Just wow. I could have just posted my ideas on the official forums and Bashoik would have probably read them if they were any good.

posted a message on Diablofans WWI Card Contest - Comments
I haven't played WoW in a couple of months. I got bored with the content and didn't want to struggle in raids to get gear thats going to be replaced with greens in Wrath. I'd start back up again to do some recon for Wrath's release. Having a Tyrael pet would be pretty badass.

    Trading System
    - Auction house accessible at any repair vendor. This would reduce downtime spent in town selling\repairing\etc.
    - Mail system also accessible at any repair vendor.
    - Include random mailboxes, couriers, and vendors in the wilderness, but not in dungeons.
    - Allow direct trading with any player in the same town no matter where in the town they are.
    PvP System
    - Include a designated fighting ring in town which takes two players or two teams into an instance to fight.
    - Allow other players to enter the instance as observers only.
    - The old hostile system was fine, however there should be something put into place that keeps other players from killing someone who has just zoned into an area. Perhaps a 30 second immunity to other players.
    - Include a global bounty system on wanted posters in town. Allow players to track bounties.

posted a message on Should gold be important for D3
The problem with gold was that when you died you would lose a ridiculous amount of it. Even if it was in your stash. Not to mention anything you had on you would drop on the ground and would be frequently picked up by another player. If they are going to make it part of the death penalty again then people will just find some other item that has value, is tradable, and doesn't drop on death to use as currency.

posted a message on Bill Roper Shares Diablo III Thoughts
I bought Hellgate: London. It is quite possibly the worst game I've played in the past couple of years. I actually think Dungeon Runners is a better game. If Bill thought it would actually be received well by the fans in its release state, hell even months after, then his opinion does not matter to me.

The scars on the barb were already mentioned in the thread where the pics are sent. (News forum)

Its really cool but otherwise the screenshot looks really... bad imo.
    Needs much work.

also Bashoik has confirmed that they are blood spray crit decals on the barb...

"Those are actually fading crit blood sprays. When you get a crit death on a monster (that isn't an elemental crit death) it sprays the hero with blood (decals) and those then slowly fade over time. The screenshot shows them pretty much faded all the way out which gave them the appearance of scars. Maybe we can get some screenshots out that show the blood sprays a bit more effectively."

I don't know why someone would say no. The more side quests the more game play.

I do. Its one of the things that made Diablo great. You didn't feel like someone's errand boy. I don't want to collect vegetables for some local farmer or pick up talbuck shit. If you want an assload of quests thats what WoW is about. Diablo is about doing quality quests, not quantity.

Uh, I have hardly played WoW, and I still think D3's style is a big let down, I don't want stumpy cute furniture, funny looking skull caves, extravagantly nonsensical dungeon designs etc, its all stuff that just kills any immersion for me.

Its a fantasy game. Everything in Diablo 2 was "nonsensical". Look at the arcane sanctuary. WTF you're in space with stars zooming by. How about the cow level. There just happen to be hundreds of cows standing there with poleaxes waiting for you to come down and meet their king.

If you play games to stand around admiring furniture instead of breaking the shit, this might not be the game for you.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Art Director Resigns
    Quote from "shelledfade" »
You guys have to wonder though seriously... Why are they targeting Kids with the colors and affects and style when the diablo franchise has always been about M rated style.

Honestly and seriously, why target kids in an M rated franchise with their current art features, the brightness and funky feel of it. That's all I'm saying... Get your panties out of a knob folks, this franchise really does need some new art direction... even if it is only a subtle one. Sometimes when you work on a game for years and years all you start to see is that game, AKA old art director being lead designer from WoW, but I guess hes gone now so whatever.

Jay Wilson has already explained it. Jesus christ do you read anything other than your own posts? The game started out dark and they revised it several times. Jay has explained exactly why and it makes sense.
