There's nothing really controversial or sexist with claiming that many young males have the potential to be violent. More so than young women.
It's simple: testosterone -- the hormone which makes men men -- has a link to aggression, and generally having a stronger flight/fight-response. It's the same for women with higher testosterone, and the opposite with men with lower testosterone. It's simple hormones. And the highest testosterone levels are -- in average -- on men in their early twenties.
But, not all young males are violent. Many are intelligent enough to avoid pointless aggression. However, not everyone got lucky with their Gaussian IQ lottery.
Immaterial to the argument and sufficed to say, regardless of how you cast the character of John and Jane Doe protestor they are endowed with the same human rights everyone else has to legally and peacefully display their opinions. If you happen to disagree with them, let them know. Diologue is part of the answer, not social darwinism.

As to this protest, I think it's kind of pointless. A better place to rally would be on Capitol Hill, demanding politicians to make banks carry their financial risks -- and in situations where the risk are impossible to carry, not just donate money in bailouts, but do it as a profitable investment to the taxpayer.
As i've said before, I don't pretend to understand the arguments or the merits of their protest. The location of protest is a debate in and of itself. I'm sure some people blame the government for banks' financial malfeasance just as i'm sure others would say Wall St. itself had a central role. The truth of the matter is that both arguments have merit. You can't have a bailout without a monumentally greedy and mis-managed banking industry. Similarly, you can't have a tremendously mis-managed banking industry without a lack of oversight and regulation. It would be simple to say "well, they should have just let them [the banks] fail," but i'm sure any rational person would agree: that's political suicide. No matter how strongly you adhere to lassize fair or libertarian ideology it's not within the current zeitgeist to allow that kind of shock to the system.
The overarching point, however, remains: and that is these people have a right to present their greivances in a peaceful manner, exercising their first amendment rights.

Egyptian here, all I want to say is good luck. One advice, try to gain the attention of the streets, for an example in Egypt before january 25th we started talking about the protest on 25th in public transports and so on, making an act of 2 people chatting and the one who is going down convinces the other guy, stuff like that.
Oh yeah, and if it catches on, don't trust anyone who would appear like a savior, we made a mistake here trusting our army council and now we have a lot stronger dictator in power.
Stay the course sir. Your heroic efforts to wrest free of tyranny is an inspiration to us all. -

Seluhir posted a message on What Rift weapons/armor would you like to see in Diablo 3?If this is meant to be a comparison to the wow one, then it makes no sense because rift is not a blizzard product... if it's meant to be serious then why would you even ask such a silly question... and if it's just meant to be a troll it really lacks creativity...Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

Brenugae posted a message on What WoW weapons/armor would you like to see in Diablo 3?I've never seen a more insecure and hate-fueled people as Diablo fans. It's sad. Most of you are filled with so much irrational hostility towards WoW that you just come off making yourself look like complete tools. I've generally been very civil on these forums, the few posts I've made, but your inability to look beyond anything outside of the box of what you think Diablo should be or what Diablo is has made you completely jaded to the point where you lash out at anyone or anything that challenges your ideas of what you think the game should be.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Everyone talks about the WoW community like it's a cesspit of the gaming world, but some of you guys are worse than anything I've ever seen in WoW. So go ahead, hiss and gnash your frothing teeth at anyone who doesn't have the same mind set as you. Sit in your little world with your hands covering your ears, rocking back and forth and mumbling to yourself about how Diablo is your precious. -

Personally, I wouldn't mind, as I probably wouldn't recognize most references (played so little WoW).
I get the feeling that this would be the case with at least half of the people saying none. -

D3 will be out before Xmas without a doubt. i don't see any plausible or possible reason why it wouldn't.
Right. Because blizzard games have never had last minute delays. Ever. It will very likely be delayed, but not because Max Schaefer said so, but rather because Blizzard will delay it if they feel it is necessary for ANY reason. If it comes out in December, great! If it comes out in February, it will be worth the wait. -

Peace posted a message on The Monk Dual-wielding Swords, Monk-specific Swords.Yes, it is accurate for the Diablo III Monk to dual-wield short swords. We're not talking about the Barbarian's ability to dual-wield two-handed, huge-ass swords. The Chinese monks from which the D3 Monk draws (in part, mind you) its style have a plethora of unique and enticing swords to slash people with. Here's a list for reference:Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_swords#Sword_types
Some of us might instantly recognize the Dao, or in English the "Chinese broadsword," which are often wielded in pairs called Shuang Dao:
I would definitely consider these applicable to our D3 Monk's arsenal. The interesting part would be the attack animation... probably a copy/paste of what the Barb does when it normal attacks using 2 swords.
Others include:
Butterfly Swords (húdié shuāng dāo, pretty much meaning double Dao, but shorter)
and Hook Swords
Of course for Diablo III the artists can mess with the design as much as they want, and I'd love to see some epic double swords on my Monk. Why rip through demons with one sword when you can do it with two?! -

NeciFiX posted a message on Max Schaefer Says No Diablo 3 in 2011First of all,Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I'm 99.9% certain that is the real Max Schaefer. I have actually run into him on other forums - completely out of the blue - just because we shared mutual interests! He is quite active on the internet and in various communities. We share a mutual interest of carnivorous plants and I helped beta test Hellgate London (which was not a bad game IMO), Mythos and gave him my opinion of Torchlight. Max is a good guy and I'm not surprised at all to see his post here. I'm sure he lurks gaming sites and a title like this showing up on, not just "some rando D3 fansite" but one of the biggest D3 fansites in the world... well, I'm sure he might have a word to clarify those who are blatantly insulting him. You think maybe he wouldn't look at this site every once in awhile since it is one of the, if not the biggest hub of Diablo information? I know he's still interested in the series, despite not working on it anymore. It was a big part of his career.
Second of all, Max is a legitimately good guy. He is one of the fathers of the Diablo franchise and I'm saddened that you people are so pathetic that you have to whine just because he isn't one of your mindset that it will release in 2011. I really think that's what it is. Do you really, HONESTLY, think he only said that to be bitter about Blizzard and to get people to play Torchlight 2? That's a real childish move and I don't think, from my few conversations with him, would ever fit his demeanor. But, someone is very childish here, I'll agree. But I'm almost positive it is not Max.
Max was one of the brilliant minds behind Diablo and Diablo II, he was one of the people that intricately weaved a gaming experience that I know defined my childhood. And I know it defined many of yours. So please be respectful. I'm not saying he deserves to be put on a pedestal, but, tearing the man down for stating his opinion is really pathetic.
No offense intended,

Oh I don't doubt that Blizzard people are on this forum. I also don't doubt there are Blizzard people on forums for Warcraft, Assassins Creed, Halo, Zelda, and Metal Gear Solid. Now, being assigned is another story...

(Edited to add Atru's "The Specter" idea...)
