I agree completely; more interaction would be nice. If it is real-time, however, this might cause problems if it is done to such an extent that it's like KOTOR or Mass Effect. I personally think the Oblivion games would be a good focal point.
Also, remove the inability to attack your faction. Lineage II has a cool karma system, you gain points or lose them based on your actions. Attack your friends, you gain points. Help them or kill monsters, you lose them. In that instance, if you gain to many, you are a marked man (or woman) and people can kill you freely.
I think an approach similar to World of Warcraft would be cool, two factions and whatnot. It might be better to add certain advantages to the sides this time around; so it's not just an aesthetic thing. Heaven and Hell could have exclusive features, that'd be cool.
