Mar 12, 2006Sage85 posted a message on Diablo3.Com Website team is looking for staff! We have all been waiting for Diablo for a really long time now, and over the months we have picked up lots of evidence, ie. the patent trademark, (well done cyks!) and whats this? Looking for job postings of the origanal diablo 1 and 2 team to work on an unnanounced project? Oh my gosh, its final. Please do not try to deny it. Diablo3 will be announced sometime this year.Posted in: News
The issue before us is not whether it will be released, it is other things, such as wether it will be an mmo or single player. Where will it get a FITTING storyline from where Diablo 2 broke off? Here is my conclusion. It sounds quite logical to me.
Diablo 3 is not going to be an mmo. It won't be only single player either, since thats just not fun at all. It will be a single player game with a multiplayer option, following it's predecessor's succesful example. Think about it. What made Diablo 2 most succesful? Its rocking storyline and free, awesome internet and LAN options. Now dont get me wrong. the single player kicked ass too, but why not have multiplayer? You feel a lot more freedom playing with people all over the world. But now think about this. 70% of Diablo 2 online players play World of Warcraft as well. Can you honestly tell me that the average player, (who is probably still going through scooling and is unemployed) has enough money and time to have active accounts on more than one MMO? What a waste! If Diablo 3 is an MMO, then most of Blizzards bored WoW fans will be cancel their wow accounts to be part of this fresh MMO experience, something which blizzard definately doesnt want, as they are still building on Wow, making expansions and so on.
For the rest, we're just going to have to wait for blizzard to announce Diablo3, as any further proof regarding this subject is scarce.
So long, have fun playing D2 LoD and Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion.
see you all in a D3 realm sometime soon.
Cheers! -

Jan 16, 2006Sage85 posted a message on Diablo3.com - Wow Server - Balnazzaryesss, that does sound devilish! Just thinking, before wow came out, im quite sure that there were more Diablo fans than warcraft fans, so imagine if they had made a diablo mmo instead? Sound logical? Im sure they would have made much more money. Maybe theyre all just idiots. I find that like a more logical explanation every day...Posted in: News
oh and correction, i meant FF11, not 10. -

The Rest of Gaming in 2007
There are some pretty big releases coming next year. I'm not supposed to tell anyone anything specific, but I can drop hints and say a lot without saying anything. First up is a big announcement from activision (and we're not talking about quake wars here), and considering id software titles are distributed by activision, we can all hope it has something to do with id software's new intellectual property they were talking about a few months ago. There's also some definite stiring in the bushes when it comes to Blizzard (Shall we be bold and say Diablo III out loud); Command and conquer 3 is also coming (say no more) Tomb raider will be returning and the ps3 is looming. This isnt everything im excited about for 2007, but i have to hold back in case i say something i shouldnt and get scraped off the hot news list. In terms of entertainment (Games, movies, and experiences), 2007 is going to be massive and filled with endless gaming hours. NAG.
Well thats it, word for word. Could it be any clearer

Why do you think that for more than a year Blizzard has been hiring more staff with the same credentials? Work into Diablo3 is in full swing, my friend, i thought we already established this...

We know that a Diablo 3 WILL be around soon. We know this because:
a) Blizzard has clearly stated on more than one occasion that the Diablo Universe will be visited in the future.
b)It seems overwhelmingly obvious that work on this series will be next, as warcraft and starcraft have just had their turns with Brood War and WOW. In the past, when i brought this up, people argued that blizzard can work on more than one project at once, this is only partly true. Blizzard can split its factions up to work on patches, but to create an entirely new game requires the majority of the team to complete properly. Diablo also hasn't had any serious work done on it for many many years, and it has come, in my mind, to the front of the queue.
c)We can pretty much conclude that work done on this series will be focused on an entirely new game, not an expansion pack, as the diablo 2 engine is outdated visually. It will also not be possible as the jump in storyline will have to be intense for anything to make sense, something which will require an entirely new game.
d) I reckon Diablo 3 will follow diablo2s example, by being a single player game with a free multiplayer option. It will not be an mmo, as the last thing that blizzard wants is to draw attention from its millions of online WOW players away from the product and to divert their monthly fees to something new a fresh. Guild wars is a fine example of success without a fee, and Diablo 3, I am sure, will not dissapoint.
e)Blizzard has started work on Diablo3 already, as it started gathering a team for it more than a year ago, and hints to its release have become increasingly obvious and prominent.
f) I bet you Diablo3 will be released in less than 2 years. maybe even one, as if they took any longer, the engine that they were working with would become outdated and visually stale.
These points make sense to me, and I have been trying to press them upon you for more than a year. Please tell me what you think.
