Very true, and thank you for focusing back on the OP's point. So now wd needs something to push competitively. It's a thread about build diversity when chasing the board and the players who care about that. Yeah the other classes have a ton of options at the top end. Shame on you Blizzard, you ruined the wd (once again). I had 600+ hrs logged on wd before there was a such thing as paragon points. Bears were so fun.

From a person who has posted up GR50+ with 4 classes, and at a relatively casual pace, I can admit to moments of frustration. Took forever to get an ancient Sparker but I proceeded to make top 75 at the time with a crafted weapon and it felt good. I've been through that a few times and let me say that if you can't find a way to have fun without a certain drop just the way you want then d3 may not be a satisfying game. I am not a particularly good player or lucky...just efficient and consistent. Play all you want, and how you want, but crying on here isn't going to get you what you want unless that's all you want to do atm. In that case, please be considerate of those who don't lend you a shoulder to cry on. They have a right to voice their view as much as you do.

Ancients roll up to 30% more damage. Each GR tier adds 20% monster health. Unless you are pushing within 2 tiers of the top spot using an ancient, then your progression is not limited by the weapon.

posted a message on Nilfur's Meteor Damage Increase

    Wow thanks Blayreau!

I just got another Nilfur, this time non-ancient, but it looks like a good option and is what I'm trying out right now:

    498 int

    477 vit

    98 AR

    15% Meteor (rerolled)

    196%

Comparison stats on the ancient boots from my previous post:

    +0.7% damage

    -2.5% toughness

Pretty decent compromise, only other consideration for the AR+Armor boots is the gain in ehp which has synergy with the Gizzard.

posted a message on Nilfur's Meteor Damage Increase

If that's indeed how it works then say the meteor is going to do, for simplicity, 1 damage, and I have +54% meteor (including 15% on boots):

The 153% boots would do 3.90 damage

The 196% boots would do 4.56 damage (effectively 17% more damage)

The 196% (without rerolling for 15% meteor) would do 4.11 damage (effectively 5.5% more damage)

posted a message on Nilfur's Meteor Damage Increase

Has anyone tested if the legendary ability is an additive or multiplicative with +meteor roll on helm/boots/source? Consider that even the base +100% legendary effect of Nilfur does not show up on the sheet meteor damage.

Had an interesting ancient Nilfur drop that made me think of this question:

    Current Nilfur:
    593 Int
    618 Vit
    120 AR
    +15% Meteor (reroll)
    153% Legendary ability

    Recent Nilfur drop:
    583 Int
    129 AR
    479 Armor
+12% Arcane Torrent (non rerolled yet)
    196% Legendary ability

If Nilfur's legendary ability is additive, then I may be inclined to roll the skill roll on the new boots to Vit for a high toughness set of boots. Would be a win-win in that the 153%+15% is still far less than the 196% on the new boots.

If it is multiplicative, then I'll take 6% toughness drop and use the new boots with a +15% meteor reroll or simply keep using my old ones in case i ever want an AT version of Nilfurs.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

posted a message on Tal Rasha Wizard: Solo Greater Rift Guide (Melee version)

Jaetch, thanks for taking the time to put this together. I've been running an identical skill build with some minor gearing differences. I'm still farming for an SS (ancient devastator atm), but have cleared GR50 with my suboptimal gearing.

Some questions for you and some considerations for those without a sparker who are stuck in the low GR50 range:

    1) I find gizzard to be a better survivability gem than estoteric. Being an intel class with innate AR plus the Tal res proc leaves life regen as a weak link. Being a melee build further makes gizzard a suitable choice since esoteric does nothing for physical damage. Gizzard's shield ability also comes in handy for infrequent yet powerful RG attacks that we fail to avoid. Esoteric gets a nod for poison res.

    2) Pauldrons of the Skeleton King is a solid choice, if not BiS (kinda sad)...but I think an honorable mention should be made for Death Watch Mantle with it's newly improved internal cooldown and much improved melee range damage.

    3) Finally, I don't quite (yet) understand how Zei's would be selected above Pain Enhancer for a melee build. Doesn't the increased damage from Tal and Trapped work into Pain Enhancer? Even if not, so often meteors crash down where you stand and it's nice to place hydras so that Tal procs fire asap...which is to say, not wait for the lava to trickle in. Just seems like a big difference in dps and utility, not to mention help with hitting BP's.

Great job on the 52 run in the video...it's an awesome showcase!
