Oh man I'm excited!
I noticed the red symbol too.
For those of you going to BlizzCon, maybe I'll see you there!
Maybe we can duel with the *hopefully* playable demo!

I have played games with weight counters on inventory, but they are usually slower paced RPG games like Baldur's Gate.
For a really fast paced, action packed game like the Diablo series, you don't want to slowdown gameplay by having the user constantly worrying about how much weight they have left vs. only worrying about inventory space. -

Jul 2, 2008thecowking posted a message on Diablo 3 Items and InventoryPosted in: NewsQuote from "ptgatsby" »I'm still waiting for someone to say that we should have 640x480 graphics so that we can be just like D2. And none of that fancy 800x600 stuff neither - a return to the old school diablo.
What I want from diablo III is a good game and that means design improvements. There are tradeoffs to gameplay that the designers need to make. Can you really imagine problem solving or improving the game in an environment where you want to hold onto the old, frustrating, complained about and outdated concepts? Imagine sitting at the table and having one designer shooting down idea after idea because "it isn't diablo". I can just imagine "but people hated the inventory system. It's easy to fix, why don't we..." "No, can't change it. That's what made diablo diablo!"
The new inventory is a trade off for making the game more playable, quicker paced and less frustrating. I don't care if they decided to use the exact same bags, icons and incentory screen as Wow - especially if it was shown that the design uses the least clicks, is the most intuitive and is the least frustrating system. And if that means they also need to change the "spacing" of items to avoid nesting huge bags, great. I suspect it means that organising my bags will be that much easier, and I'm all for it.
It's like people have been dreaming about what the game could be like for so many years that anything, no matter what it is, would come up short... and any change from what they have "branded" as diablo (like the inventory) is automatically seen as bad. I do kind of hope it is similar to wow though... I'd love for wow to be an isometric, randomly generated loot, quick paced and cooperative game... cause that's sure not the wow I quit. I'm sorry, but I just don't think that using bags will... how do you say... overshadow those games elements. No more than using 3d graphics instead of (practically) tiles and sprites will make it "wowish".

Jul 2, 2008thecowking posted a message on Diablo 3 Items and InventoryThey had the different inventory in D2 becuase the only real 'detail' you got was from what the item looked like in the inventory. You didn't get much once you put it on.Posted in: News
In D3, it's the other way around (which I like). You don't have as much detail in your inventory, but when you put the item on, you get a ton of detail.
Which is better, item detail in inventory, or looking awesome with the item equipped?
EDIT: I think once people buy the game, they will realize that Blizzard knows what they are doing. Stop worrying about eveything being so "WoW-ish".
Also, there is a petition out now for the D3 team to NOT change the art style.

For instance, I live in Michigan, and at work we have At&T. Diablo3.com doesn't redirect.
But, at home (1 mile away) I have Broadstripe, and it still redirects. -

Jun 15, 2008thecowking posted a message on XFire Slips WWI Game Announcement?Ok. At least if they have some sort of multi-player/mmo style play, they better make a single player version that is BEATABLE! I really enjoy playing WoW...for like i dunno...a month or two...then i don't play for two months becuase I am so bored of the same repeatable content...arena, battlegrounds, etc...you never feel very accomplished...like "hey i have a 70 rogue....ok now what..lolPosted in: News
Beatable games FTW -

So...they are officially resetting the ladder June 17th...
I don't know about you guys but this tells me that they are wanting to get people pumped about D2 again by strategically resetting the ladder just shortly before they announce D3 at the WWI!!
They want to keep players interest in the Diablo universe.
Any thoughts? -

I'm really hoping that he became corrupt after destroying the worldstone and you have to end up fighting him in the game at some point!
But yes I think they included Tyrael in the BlizzCon image because he will play a large role in the game somehow.

LOL.
Hey, it's all good. At least I had the opportunity to talk with him.
I figured someone else would do this after me, and it does have a lot of the same material, except for the different characters and talking about how much he makes and what not.
Oh well...

Glad to hear it!
It was fun interviewing him. Maybe I'll try for a video interview next...hmm

It's actually "goff", rhymes with Cough...I thought it was "go" as well...good thing I asked him before the interview started!

What are you talking about?
I just listened to the entire thing again on two different pc's and I didn't hear any sucking/chewing noises...
EDIT: Ok I see what you mean now...although I really only heard it when I turned it up really loud...and even then it wasn't super noticeable.
Hey give me some credit...I used Skype and a headset.

Not sure. I've seen pictures of him online.
He's done stuff for Scooby Doo, Speeed Racer, and Whinnie the Pooh if that gives any sort of idea.
I'd say maybe he was born in the early 60's? Not sure though.

That's what I enjoyed about interviewing him. Very down to earth and fun to talk to.
