Note: I didn't read the entire thread so I don't know if this has already been stated.
Starcraft II a game that has already been released is getting DOUBLE the time that Diablo III is getting.
I realize that Bashiok said this is the same amount of time that Diablo III got in previous blizzcon's, but doesn't this seem a little well....stupid?
Guess you can see where Blizzard's priorities are, WOW, and SC2.
Bashiok already talked about this in a post on the official forums.
Official Blizzard Quote:
Well, what can I say. World of Warcraft is huge. You can't really compare anything to it, the vast majority of people that go to BlizzCon are hardcore WoW players. We'd be silly to not cater the events and time spent on them to the people paying to attend and their primary interests.
StarCraft II, yeah, they have a lot of panels this year. Last year they had three. They just shipped a game and I think have the time to devote to creating more of them.
Again, the number of panels has nothing to do with the amount or quality of info released.
i don't really think the size of the Diablo III panels will be relevant with the quality (and quantity) of the information we're going to get this year. -

Update:
for those of you who are worried about the limited Diablo time, here is what Bahiok had to say:
Official Blizzard Quote:
It's the same number as last year. Two 'info' panels and one open Q&A. I really don't see how this could be interpreted as any indication of... anything, at all. We have specific things to talk about. It's a weird stretch to come to a conclusion that we must not be able to talk about anything meaningful unless there are 3+ hours of stage time dedicated to talking about the game. So anyway, yes, there are two panels - - and in-between those panels and for 14 hours a day, both days the developers are in back-to-back interviews with news and press outlets. There will be plenty of info streaming out about the game all over the place even if you don't think that two panels is enough to do so. [ Post edited by Bashiok ]
Thanks!
Especially the part about the interviews with the developers between the panels sounds excellent. Also the fact that they have specific things to talk about is important! I can't wait! -

i trust those 3 hours will offer alot more useful information than hour long of interviews that play "cat and mouse" to avoid direct answers

I'm with you on this one, mate. I'm hoping that since there's 'only' 3 hours of D3 stuff in there, they'll be releasing info on the game in the following weeks as well. Hopefully on a grander scale than has been up until now
That's a good point and I won't argue against that, but still, it's kinda dumb that Bashiok (and others, not to point fingers at any specific Blizzard representative) emphasized in quite literal terms how this would be Diablo's year and this would be the biggest Blizzcon for Diablo. When looking at how little is devoted to this entirely new game, how little was given to it in the past years, and how SCII is already released and WoW's expansion has already had beta and is due for release the end of this year (I believe), it's just ridiculous how many straight panels there are for, specifically, WoW, and not for an entirely new, unreleased, un-beta-ed game.
I'm not sure how much Blizzard usually keeps to schedule, but if it's anything like their game releases, we can't say anything for sure(AH HAHAAHAHA I MAED A FUNNEH). We should wait and see what happens.

If they do release a beta key then I think peoples that accounts show that they went last year should be opted in since they didn't give us jack beside some hand sanitizer. (Thanks Blizzard)
Is that...wait, seriously?
Well, I don't think that's such a bad gift considering the audience consists mainly of hardcore nerds - the most ferociously masturbating folk on earth!
it was hand sanitizer, not lube it was about the time the swine flu was around and people got panicky. -

anyway i may be getting ahead of myself but i recall both Bashiok and Jay Wilson saying it's going to be "the Blizzcon for Diablo". So since its just those 3 hours, i'm kinda wondering what they could say there that could make us so excited to actually achieve that.
Only a release date (not too likely) or a beta announcement (still pushing it but... you know) would do that. -

Just imagine one hour of new gameplay videos!Posted in: News

In Diablo 1 at later stages (i think plate mail) you held your helmet in your hands in town and wore it in the dungeons. Would be awesome to have the same thing happen in Diablo III. -

I'd like to request a graveyard in our B.NET profile where we can review all of our dead HC characters. If history is maintained it would help soften the blow of dying permanently, and make the experience of playing HC less daunting.
It could be something simple which just lists all of your characters, allows people to inspect each character to see the current equipment and skills you were using when killed, and the place/mode of death (i.e. Killed by "PlayerX" in a duel, Killed by a Grotesque in the Catacombs of Act 1, Normal, etc). It would also show which items were removed from the HC item pool with player inspect. "Wow, that person died with a Windforce and two SOJ's. Too bad..."

As for buying a digital copy of the game, that would require a credit card. And you can't have a credit card:
1. Unless you're over 18.
2. Unless your parents aren't paying attention and you use it in secret.
Either way the online store that does the selling never takes the blame.
On topic now, I don't think there's going to be an age restriction in order to be picked for the beta.
