    posted a message on pumkins?
I did a Diablo pumpkin this year based off a stencil I found online:

Looks just like one of the ones posted above XD

And the rest of those pumpkins make my skills feel inadequate :S

Had fun carving it though, and I don't think it's too bad given I just used a standard kitchen knife.

It's not folk metal per se, but I just want to put my vote here in for Opeth, because if you're capable of hearing and appreciate anything even remotely related to metal, you must bow to their epic awesomeness.

Back on topic, I must agree that Eluveitie is great. If I could listen to just one folk metal band, it would be them.

Opeth are absolutely amazing, some of the most talented musicians I've ever had the good luck of encountering. I would recommend them to anybody. For a good "dark" album, try "Still Life" or "Blackwater Park".

Daylight Dies are also excellent. "Dismantling Devotion" is particularly good. Another great album is Insomnium's "Above the Weeping World".

All the above bands feature "growly" death-metal style vocals, which may not be your cup of tea (although I urge you to give them a chance anyway, especially Opeth - Mikael Akerfeldt also does amazing clean vocals). For what it's worth, I'm picky with the growling I'll tolerate, and all the above bands feature very palatable growling.

For somewhat softer, more atmospheric dark music, you might try Agalloch's "The Mantle". Or, since we're on the Diablofans boards, I'd be remiss not to recommend everything by Matt Uelmen, especially the D2 soundtrack. But you probably knew that already.

I also have a soft spot for female-fronted symphonic metal. In that vein, check out "The Silent Force" by Within Temptation, "The Divine Conspiracy" by Epica, and "Dark Passion Play" by Nightwish. The latter really strikes me as something you might enjoy, from what you mentioned your first post.

There are lots of other amazing bands out there, these are just the tip of the iceberg, but this post is already too long. Hope you find something you like!

posted a message on [Music] Complete, high-quality D2 and LoD soundtracks?
Browsing through a few threads here, it looks like many of you, like me, are huge fans of Matt Uelmen's work on the Diablo series. The music is so hauntingly, darkly atmospheric, so far beyond any other soundtrack I've ever heard. It truly is a work of art.

I've downloaded the D2 soundtrack from several different places, but every time there are weird garbled bits in some songs and the soundtrack is incomplete (i.e. missing the outtake tracks).

Does anybody have - or know where to get - a complete, high-quality collection of all of Matt's music from D2 and LoD, including outtakes? I found this page over at the Arreat Summit, and for a moment I thought I had hit the motherload, but my hopes where dashed as soon as I realized all the download links were broken (although his notes on each song were still a treat).

At any rate, I've been searching for ages, and would be extremely grateful to anybody who can provide me with this.

posted a message on Finally registered, about damn time!
    Hey all,

I've been lurking around diablo3.com (and now diablofans.com) for ages, on and off. A couple months ago I started checking in much more regularly; rumors seemed to be heating up again. The announcement that the diablo3.com domain was being handed over to Blizzard REALLY piqued my interest. And things have just got more interesting since.

The Diablo series has always had a special place in my heart. D1 introduced me to RPGs when I was but a youngster of 10 or so (M rating be damned, I turned out fine), and I madly clicked my way through my middle/high school years with D2 and LOD, which I still return to now and again.

Well, it looks like we really may finally be about to hear what we've been waiting all these longs years for, so I think it's about time I finally registered so I can squeal like a little schoolgirl with all the rest of you if the big announcement is made.

Great to finally be a contributing part of this awesome community. See you around the boards.
