You didn't stand up for what you first said nor replied to it. Your first argument were, that Quin is the only guy in D3 who made a big guide, or made a lot of dfans builds on here. That's not true.
"Well, has anyone ELSE made a large guide for Dfans like this? I would imagine, if they did, it would also be featured, as created multiple guides for all classes is probably a f-ton of work, and the mods on Dfans would take notice is feature it."

That is what I said. Your large guide got featured on the front page, as did Desolacer's. So did Bludshedd's starter guides. So all of the people I've seen have been featured on the front page for the entire community to see. My argument was not "Quin is the only one who has done this." I asked if anyone else has done it, and if so it would be featured.

You have, it's been featured. I don't see the problem.

I'll throw my 2 cents in here. Self admitted Quin sub.

Quin is incredibly knowledgeable about Diablo. Not a specific class (though obviously you gain a lot of knowledge playing the same class over and over), but how the game actually works in general. That is a very important aspect of guide-building because it allows him to see patterns with certain gear combinations regardless of class. He knows how most every class' skills work because he plays with all of them. And because he plays so much, he absorbs knowledge from other players as well.

For those saying he has only a few hours on certain classes - he probably played Helltooth WD more than anything else back in PTR before that specific set was introduced. So he knows how it works, but you wouldn't know that unless you've seen him do it on stream. You can't just look at his profile hours played and claim he has no experience with a class. Has he played Barb very much? No, but he plays with a lot of very good Barb players and, as such, probably knows more about the class than most casual observers. So to write off Quin as not being informed on how the other 5 classes work would be erroneous.

Crux of the argument, on topic, is should his guide be featured as widely as it is? Well, has anyone ELSE made a large guide for Dfans like this? I would imagine, if they did, it would also be featured, as created multiple guides for all classes is probably a f-ton of work, and the mods on Dfans would take notice is feature it. Dfans does a really good job of featuring all sorts of builds, but they run into the same problem that @Bagstone mentioned - if they put up a build that isn't going to push top of the LB or be a sub 2min TX farming build, most of the community just craps on it, saying how "useless" it is.

I know Quin rubs some people the wrong way, but the tone of this entire thread has been "Do you like Quin or not." I'm sure some of his non-monk guides could use work, of course, he'd tell you the same thing I imagine. In fact, on stream he frequently points people to Alkaizer, Phil, Joebo, etc, for more specific or in-depth questions.

Having a big set of seasonal guides for all classes is a GOOD idea in my opinion, whether it be authored by one person or multiple people, as it gives players (not just the LB mashers mind you, but the casual player that comes here for help that no one in the community ever seems to give a #%@ about) a quick and easy reference to see what a good starter build is. Or, even just a "Hey I got these legendaries first, what kind of build can I do with them."

    That's all I got.

    Hai @instability01 Lions Word PogChamp

EDIT - Some sort of guide review on a monthly basis by the staff would be a solid move in my opinion. I agree with a lot of the posters that it's hard to find guides that haven't been upvoted by the streamer/youtube subtrains.

I appreciate all the replies guys. It seems like Years of War is far and away the winner. It'd probably be a lot of fun for me too. I'm still intrigued by Sprinter, as I think I could find some other folks willing to pour 10-12 hours into practicing & perfecting it - which isn't much in the grand scheme of things. It's just that those 10-12 hours are kind of lost after that.

I see the appeal of hitting the leaderboards on Sprinter, but that time is done. Past that, it's more of just a curiosity. Years of War will get me into some new classes, sets, and playstyles. Somebody mentioned it, but it is very true that we're only 1.5 weeks into the season and my DH is already 2/6 on the Guardian step, so there really is a lot of time to work through this. I'll probably get back to Sprinter at the end of the season.

Now I just need to roll an ancient Yang's (big fan of UE) and GR70 should be a cinch. Back to speedfarming TX and levelling gems, I guess.

    Hi Stede.

There is no possible builds, so the spamm wrods coming from other " pro " player has nothing to do here. In 1 month will suposely release the patch or 2, so from there we can talk literally about the possible builds to round it. There is more better players which dnt stream or spotting on everywhere to say: checkit out, im on tip of iceberg.

If you don't like whats being discussed you can stay out of it. Quin talks a lot of sense and actually helps the player base with his videos. And whats wrong with him saying he's on top when he really was on top at the end of season 1. You got a problem with people speaking the truth? Or maybe you're just jealous.

Why don't you tell the guys here at Diablofans to stop posting datamined info on the front page? Cause as you said, in a month we'll have all the info and then, according to you, we can start talking "literally" about possible builds. Whatever that means.

I didn't know i needed your permission to make threads about monks.

Where i says taht u must ask me for making mks threads, kid ?.

Read again what i posted: we can speculate about what will not be from PTR to new patch 2.2 or Season 3, END OF CONVERSATION. Also, there is more pro players which dnt need to stream, not the only way to express: im a pro and i understand about this game :) Dictionary.com ----- > jealous and truth, then come backto here and speak me to my face what means and when to say / reply it on comments.

Apart that Quin player posted only 3 possible builds when tehre is 9 when released PTR.

For serenity ( which now are fixed and it take effects after lasts inmunity, but can keep spamming by other way with same Zodiac ring if you dnt know it or that " pro player " ) spamm also you can deal with same ring +a tip keyboard which its a natural way to do it really easy and completely legal cos u are doing manually, and u only neeed 23 RCR + 45 - 50 CDR as a must. But hey, we arent pro players cos we dnt stream... oh reallly ?.

I read again what you said, which was "This post is worthless because I don't need some streamer to tell me how to play the game."

So, like said above, you have some beef with this specific streamer, which is fine, but don't call out other people posting ideas from the PTR. We all know it's speculation...that's why it's on the test server...

I want to echo something that @Missa1390 said. "Illusion of Choice."

In D2, as a Sorc (always preferred cold) I had to play a Sorc a few times before I developed what I thought was the "best" cold build for me. Unfortunately, that meant re-leveling my character over, which is just horrible, horrible game design. Not being able to re-select skills was awful (I didn't like it, can't you tell?) But for most players, there wasn't a choice. There was an absolute "best" build for a Sorc, and that's what you did. Having the skill trees did not give you choices, it gave you the "illusion" of choice.

I have really enjoyed the last week on my Wizard. I've tried a Fire build, a Cold build (am so happy Frozen Orb is back) and an Arcane build. All of them work great with my gear on Torment II. THAT is something you couldn't have said in D3V. There actually ARE choices now. There are even multiples of all of the different elemental builds. I love the flexibility that learning all of the skills gives me. If I feeling like raining down meteors on my foes, I can do that. If I want to freeze everything to death, I can do that. I'm a Wizard for pete's sake, shouldn't I be able to summon forth whichever elemental destruction I want?

The ability to actually choose what skills I want to use to fit my playstyle is fantastic. I am very glad I don't have to adhere to everyone else's builds just to complete content.

OP I'm just not sure you're going to find that a majority of people agree with you. I didn't dump a lot of time into D3 before because I felt like I HAD to spend money on the AH to get good gear. I didn't feel like farming for hundreds of hours to get a few upgrades.

Now the game is a lot more like D2 (which I personally love). You will upgrade your gear (starting from scratch) much more frequently, and with different combinations of rares, legs, etc. I've put more time into D3 in the last three nights than I had in the previous year and a half.

So for me, I couldn't disagree with you more.

As for the AH, I'm glad it's gone. Anyone who says the AH is a social or mutliplayer tool is like saying Craig's list and Facebook are similar.
