posted a message on Oblivion Meets Diablo
I've dreamt of making a Diablo mod for Oblivion for a long time, but never had the time to actually do it. But simply copying some sound files and putting them in to dialogue, making diablo a giant Dremora, and thoroughly sucking at placing objects on the ground rather than floating above it, are not what I had in mind.

A valiant effort I suppose, but more like a waste of time. Also, it wouldn't have been ahrd at all to make Tyrael's face gone entirely, or simply pitch black, or covered entirely by blackness inside a hood..

I'd say it needs some sort of backround beside that white abyss, and the gradient isn't doing much for me either.

I like all the drawings you did before you 'started getting into it' better. I mean, they're not perfect, but they have a better sense of anatomy/structure. Good to practice on that stuff, keep it up.

And tablets are pretty awesome, definitely fun.

Also, for painting in photoshop or whatever you're using, I recommend using a harder brush. Soft brushes are good for blending and the like, but for building form, definitely go hard. Soft often makes things appear too fuzzy, out of focus.

Anyway, cool witchdoctor, keep practicing, have fun, etc..

posted a message on a diablo person i made
Pay attention to anatomy and proportions. Right now his head seems a bit too small(in comparison to the chest/arms) and the arms are of uneven length. The right arm is definitely too long. The arms don't look bad, but compared to the chest, they seem to be lacking detail/definition. Same goes for what we see of the legs.

Keep in mind a heroicly proportioned figure should be about 8 heads tall. Generally from the bottom of the head down to the crotch is about 3 heads, and using your head to measure that it looks closer to four heads, which makes his torso either too long, or head too small. Just little things to keep in mind, keep up the nice work.

posted a message on There will be currency in D3.
I'm with Kiserai, useless or not, gold is still currency. Currency doesn't completely obliterate the need for item trading, anyway.

So yeah, gold is currency, this doesn't seem like a big announcement or even an announcement at all, but alright. I hope it's not as useless as in Diablo II, but I still do want to be able to get useful items without having to just endlessly grind for gold.

Read the rules. They really do cover everything.
I did read the rules, thoroughly. Didn't think they really covered it.

Uh, can we do more than one drawing of a single class idea? Does the character have to be in a setting, or can we do a turn-around of a character (show from all different angles) in addition to a piece like your example?

Ofcorse, because they wanted the fallen to become stronger when you advance further into the game. And they obviously had to change the appearance a bit too so they just changed the colors.
Well yeah. And I hope they do the color changes in DIII as well.

I'm just saying maybe Smudge had a point, and the color choices weren't just arbitrary for a need to make a new color, but maybe it had something to do with where they were located.

They were always red! I think the color is just fine!

Weren't the Fallen ones in Diablo more greyish/purplish black? And they were under the monastary.

Also worth noting that the fallen in Diablo II are dark (black) under the monastary.

So, I think it's a legitimate gripe, you could argue a case that the color of the fallen ones was at least somewhat based on their location.

    Sounds good.

I want hell to be so hellish that the developers are arrested and the game banned.

Or maybe just slightly less hellish than that.

I felt D2 hell was pretty hellish. It's not about how it looks, it's about how many masses of unstoppable demons are out to kill you, and probably succeeding.

The shield/sword and the barbarian are of vastly different resolutions, they kinda clash. Then again I don't really know what it is you're trying to do here.. what are you trying to do?

    Pretty cool for 5 minutes.

But that gives me an idea. What if we make a thread with some sort of weekly character theme, and everyone who feels like participating throws in a 5-minute rendition of said character? There's always time for 5 minutes, after all. Would be cool to see what people could get done.

    Cool, an update! Cool, Fallen!

..and it's all downhill from there. I don't know. The hounds, lunatics, and overseers are okay additions I guess, but why? I don't need any more types of fallen really, I'd rather see other new enemies, and have them be mixed up. Also, how many bursting fat guys does the game need?

They're also a bit damn bright. But so is everything I guess.

Another thing, the page mentions them being bright red.. we sure seem them bright red.. does any of this mean that we won't be seeing any different colored versions of them? I liked being able to see a few different colored variants on them, and then once you're out of act I you don't really see them again.

I mean, with all this time they're spending fleshing them out with new types of fallen, are they going to try to have different levelled versions appear throughout the game? Or have they gone to this much trouble on the enemies further in the game as well?

I don't know, I'm speculating too much, happy to see an update though.
