Oct 10, 2008jwest posted a message on Playable Diablo 3 Demo At Blizzcon 2008! Plus, A New Character To Be Revealed!Awesome! This makes me wish that I was there more. The semester is really busy right now, so I would have probably hurt my grades if I could have went. (I only live in Southern California, but did not want to pay ticket price and do not drive), but I very much look forward to forthcoming news, and hope it does not distract me too much, I need to get my school work done. Thanks for the updates, those already posted and those forthcoming.Posted in: News

Oct 7, 2008jwest posted a message on BlizzCon - Pick the Best Diablofans QuestionsPosted in: NewsQuote from "mattheo_majik" »Man, I'm betting that the Moderators on this thread are like banging their heads on their keyboards when they see some of you guys (I don't even have to name them cause they know who they are) come and post the 10 best "quotes" and 6-8 out of 10 are your own questions. I mean posting 1 would be acceptable and clearly understandable. This thread is definately the epitome of vanity. Guys, if you repost your own question then what's the point of voting when your voting for yourself....The Mods get it that you want YOUR OWN question to be asked, if you didn't then why would you have posted the qustions initially? If your questions were truly pertinent then others would have chosen it without having to "push for it" yourself. Sad
Props to all of you who were humble enough to encourage others before yourself and really showing that you do support the D3 community instead of acting selfishly.
Sorry about the off topic post, but man, it's almost depressing when you really see how people are. I really had to express my disapointment in some folks out here for their lack of maturity on this thread. Hopefully the mods can understand the situation and not delete this message as off topic spam. If they do then I hope they have the decency to talk about the problem themselves instead of ignoring it.
One of the only reason I used about 2 or 3 of my questions is because half the questions asked on the thread(to choose from) have been answered in interviews and in other ways already. I did not want to vote for wasted questions, as for the other half, I chose some I thought to be the best ones, but seeing as I play singleplayer, I do not care about PvP or any other Battlenet/online questions. I do get your point though some people chose almost purely their own questions, (which is too bad, there were some good questions there) I hope the good questions are chosen to be asked.
(sorry for being off topic, but this thread is kind of dead anyways, the one above it has about 4 times the views and almost twice the responses (also a shame). (delete post if necessary, Thanks for giving us all the D3 updates and going to Blizzcon, hope you guys have fun/stay safe. -

- Will there be Magic Find in Diablo III, if so, how will it be different/similar? If not, how will the dropping of super rare items be dictated?
- Are lower level skills still going to be useful when we have higher level skills later on in the game? Or will we feel like we need to save our skill points for higher level skills?
- jwest88 - #10- I loved to collect set items in Diablo 2, but sometimes I never found a whole set, or the set was not as effective as having unique or runeword items. Will having full sets be more rewarding in Diablo 3? Will sets and the other kinds of items be more balanced in power?
Basekick #8
1. How similar will the skill tree be to Diablo 2? For example, will all characters be using Mana to cast our spells? Will we be having the same progression-type skill tree as in Diablo 2? And will synergies make a return?
USNSEALS #31
In Diablo II, if you took the time to really enjoy every detail, playing it the second time around, there was a feel of 'I know what to do next. I remember this guy was here, I know I have to do this to get to this.' It didn't even take 3 or 4 completions.
How is Diablo III going to improve upon that if at all?
Decay #85 (quote/response to D3nick) (I would try to form a more concise question that encompasses these ideas)

Oooh ooh ooh, even cooler, once they go back to act one, might they find a bunch of new quests that weren't even available yet due to things happening in the story in act 2/3 causing quests/etc to appear in act one that weren't there originally ... -

This is a good question, I would like to also know how they will make replaying not be too similar to the first time so it doesn't feel like the same exact thing. -
Oct 1, 2008jwest posted a message on BlizzCon -- Submit your questionsIn diablo 2 I mostly played singleplayer, it has been said that there will be an emphasis on multiplayer in D3, will singleplayer be just as rewarding and fun as multiplayer?Posted in: News
I do not like how most games rated M have a lot of profanity and nudity, will diablo 3 have about the same amount as diablo 2, or will it have more adult content?
I loved to collect set items in Diablo 2, but sometimes I never found a whole set, or the set was not as effective as having unique or runeword items, will having full sets be more rewarding in Diablo3? Will sets and the other kinds of items be more ballanced in power?
These aren't very good, but couldn't think of better right now.
I don't want to ask lore or story questions, because I want to experience the story for the first time when I play it, not know too much about it beforehand.
I like basekick's first question about items. -
Sep 27, 2008jwest posted a message on No Spellbooks in Diablo 3The reason it worked in D1 was because books were the only source of skills. This basically made it so books were only useful for those with high enough energy to use them, usually sorcerer. Besides books, in D1 you just used items and stats, and either shot your bow or swung your weapon. There were some convenient spells to have like town portal, but most were not used or just sold.(warrior/rogue) I like the setup where you add to a skill as well as stats every level, so I prefer D2's setup, but in my opinion books worked in D1 because they did not have this system. Overall in D3 no books is best, Books of lore to read along the way would be cool though, like in D1.Posted in: News

Aug 29, 2008jwest posted a message on Jay Wilson Interview for www.grytv.plAnother great interview, but why isn't this thread on the main page, or the news section, then more people could enjoy it.Posted in: News
Jay and everyone who's interviewed must have to be very careful not to let slip anything they can't say, for example when giving examples pertaining to classes what if he said the name of an unannounced class on accident. I guess they have a whole bunch of Jay interviews because he knows what he can and can't say and he knows how to say it well.
Blizzcon will be awesome, it will be good to get some large and more important chunks of information. -
Aug 25, 2008jwest posted a message on Jay Wilson Interview for www.grytv.pl"All the way through hell mode?"Posted in: News
Yes, I do play through hell mode, but I was only able to completely beat it once with a Barbarian, it was hard to get the rare, good drops and I was never able to get Immortal Kings armor. Difficulties do make you play the game longer, but you are playing the same exact thing, it just takes longer and is harder. I like the suggestions some people have made about things being slightly different in each difficulty, like there being a little more content or something changing from the normal difficulty. I think random adventures will greatly help with the replay-ability though. I still want the game to be longer than D2 was.
It will be cool to see what is in the next part of the interview. -
Aug 25, 2008jwest posted a message on Jay Wilson Interview for www.grytv.plPosted in: NewsQuote from "Murderface" »Diablo 2 single player is a long fucking game. If they take out rushing and make the quests more vital then it's all good. I'm just wondering how they will handle difficulty levels. Will there be more randomly generated mobs and mini bosses? If so that could make the game very long indeed.
All I played was single player and it is what I still play when I play D2. To me it is not that long of a game. Six quests in each act except act 4, all of them being pretty short and simple. I hope D3 will be longer, and the presence of random quests or adventures makes it seem that it will be, but I also hope the mandatory parts of the game are longer than in D2 also. If not I hope there are two expansions.
It's D3, the more the better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: I agree with your post, I am just saying D2 was not that long, and I hope D3 is a bit longer. If It is the same length as D2 with random adventures and class specific side-quests I guess the length of the acts would be about the same as D2, but the length of the game would not be the same. (I would still like a longer game though). -
Aug 25, 2008jwest posted a message on Leipzig 2008: inDiablo talks to Jay Wilson about death and tradeGreat interview, finally someone asked questions besides "will the art direction change?" and with the witch doctor in D3 will the necro return?Posted in: News

Aug 24, 2008jwest posted a message on Jay Wilson Interview for www.grytv.plI hope D3 is much longer than D2 and that the quests are better. With there being side-quests that is already an improvement, because when you played D2 more than once it had exactly the same quests as before, with random adventures I think the replay-ability will be less repetitive. The game was re-playable because the many builds you could make and the many drops you could get. Randomness was not as huge in D2 as I think it will be in D3, because in D2 the quests were NOT random. In D3 there will also be random adventures, and I think also some class specific quests. To me D3 will be more re-playable than D2, too bad many of us Diablo players are older, busier, and have more responsibilities now.Posted in: News

Similarly, "Will single-player be given all the features and content that is practical to have in both that Multi-player will be given, or will single-players be left out of exclusive features and content like we are in D2?
Will there be any new weapon types?(excluding guns of course).
Will the only difference between difficulties be item drops and difficulty of play, or will there be more differences so that it feels less monotonous to play all 3 difficulties?
Will there possibly be different or added content in each difficulty, or at least different random adventures than the last difficulties?
Once the story line is complete, what is planned to encourage re-playability? Will we end up doing countless boss runs, or will there be an option b, or even c?

I wasn't even the one doing it, but it still was plain wrong in my mind, I just shook my head when I saw it.
I used to play GTA at a friends, and I didn't have any problems back then, but if I played the game now I wouldn't play like I used to. Actually, I wouldn't even play those games anymore, they are too filthy in nature.

Full 3D rotating camera games (especially mmos) are terrible in my opinion. They're all boring to me. Once you've played one you've played the majority of them available(mmos). In my experience having the ability to rotate the camera usually means that the game will contain moments where if you don't change the angle you won't be able to see where you're going, I'd rather not have that.
I wouldn't mind that zoom feature they showed in the WWI video, it would be nice to use if only to get a closer look of your character, most likely while outside of battle.
That's only my opinion though, I'm picky and I'm sure I have much less gaming experience than many or most of the members on these forums.

Awesome!
Thanks! Clearing the cache worked.
I guess I should have googled for a solution, it's my usual answer to many problems, for some reason though I never thought to do so.
Thanks again.

I believe they have said that skills will have a max of 5, but for the skills you wish to add to more there will be a way to increase the cap of that skill.
I agree a progression of looks would be nice, but as some have mentioned, as long as it does not make them minimize early forms of the spells. One other potential problem with them changing the color of the spell is what if you liked the look of the spell better in its earlier form?
Whenever I type an apostrophe I get kicked out of whatever I was typing in the response box at the time and it takes me to an annoying feature called "quick find."(toward bottom left border of the browser) I then click back on where I was typing and continue having to change an abbreviated word that I would have used an apostrophe for to the full version.
I know this is minor, but it at times bugs the heck out of me. Does anyone know how to fix or disable this. Is it a problem with firefox? (Do not really notice it happening on other sights) or is it a diablofans related issue?
Thanks for any help.

Looks awesome though, I don't know if super-gore mode is really necessary though.

evga 9600gso (might upgrade might not)
360gb HDD (which currently tells me at boot, disk failure is eminent, but is holding up fine).
3gb DDR2 667 ram
600watt psu
17" acer(want to get 24" asus eventually, 7 inch upgrade will be nice, weird at first, but nice)

Exactly! I want this game to be very big.
Oh, and in answer to the thread...
if...
I don't know, I know I'll love it, but I especially hope that single-player vs multi-player are equal in relevant features(things that should rightfully be included in SP as well should be) and that the game is highly re-playable, far more so than D2 is. I think that's what they're aiming for.

The barbarian will have "fury." Which to me works just fine. I like the name fury, to me it fits.
It will be cool if they can have each class have a different system, it will take more work to do, but their aim is to make how each character plays even more different from how they would have been, in order to make replaying as another character more fresh than it otherwise may have been.
We'll see how it all plays out in the future.

Lets see here...
Dark Alliance alpha, Hell Unleashed, Median XL, and the unmodded form I believe.(my brother was playing one mod, I another, that's why there are multiple copies).
I currently am not playing any of them, but they all work fine for me. I think all I do is run the program as administrator.

Sorry about that I should have specified. When I said 300-400 I meant the combined cost of monitor and card.
I know GPUs aren't as much as they used to be, I still don't want to spend that much though.
Maybe the prices will drop further in the next 2 years.
I'm not a huge gamer, I tend to be picky about what I like to play, so I don't feel comfortable paying hundreds to play one game. I may upgrade in the future though.

Alright. Thanks.
If I have to get a beast of a card simply to use a better monitor, I most likely will just stick with my current setup. I don't want to have to spend 300-400 when I was only planning on buying a monitor for about 200.
Thanks for the info though, it is good to know. It may have saved me time and money.
