I HATE the way it currently is, it should be changed for sure. I've been a fan of the series since i was 10 years old. Bought my first copy if Diablo 1 back then. I have to say the current graphics is top colourful and reminds me of warcraft 3. The alternative screenshots on the first page of this post are a great quick fix.

Yes colour invokes emotions and feelings. But what sort of emotions and feelings are we looking for? certainly not the happy jolly once. The plain shade/contrast of colours in the former games is what gave them their unique feel and sense. Don't screw it up by making it like warcraft 3, this is NOT warcraft.

Guild system is one thing I REALLY REALLY want.

Community in games is a biggie for me. A good guild system would be AWESOME.
I want to get to 80+ as fast as possible in D3 and be in a good guild and have fun!

That is my kind of fun :P

A guild system with a capped amount of members and a very expensive initial cost. Which prevents a mass onslaught of thousands of guilds. Something like 30 members per guild is fine, with various Ranks such as leader, sub leader, officer, member.

As a example! I know mass zerg guilds sound appealing but honestly, 80 - 100 people, as if you will really ever get to know any of them.

But that’s just my opinion, the opposite of that is as many members as you can handle, with alliances to the guilds too. By all means either would be fine.

Dynaverse: All these game you refer to are great, but not Diablo - if you like Guild Wars, play Guild Wars, it's a good game, but it's not Diablo: Saying a game is good doesn't mean another good game's sequel should be a clone of it. Diablo is about killing stuff, plain and simple - there's this unambivalently evil dude and his chums and you have to go brutally murder them all.

Sprawling towns would require you to take time out of your busy killing schedule to explore them: if more than a minute goes by without you having killed a dude, you're not playing Diablo properly. As for travelling, Diablo I had short-cuts, Diablo II had the waypoint and both had town portals: all these things work fine, why change them? This is not a game where you ride around on your horse admiring the scenery, this is a game where you murder your way through tons of evil dudes. The same thing with dressing up in nice clothes or building more than simple items (Horadric cube): these things distract you from killing, and killing is what this game is about.

I worry about games taking themselves too seriously. Doom95 is fantastic fun, and all you ever do is shoot daemons. If you like you can bring your buddies along too and shoot daemons together. Diablo 3 should stick to its roots: it's a game about killing daemons with your friends, not making difficult choices or admiring scenery or engaging in politics.
As times change so do games. Today’s gaming benchmark for Diablo 3 is quite high. This isnt 2001 or 1997. Your making it sound like we should all go back to playing minesweeper 3d or something. Besides for every single player Diablo is a different type of experience, your 'killing demons' theory is great, but other people play the game for different reasons. Ie you have collectors, guild creators, people who play with hacks, people who Pk. its not just about killing demons, and it most certainly is about admiring scenery. This is not Prince of Persia!!! for Christ sake.

Either way everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I know there will be allot of players who wont agree with your above comments.

Oh and a guild system would kick ass too ;)

Personally id like to see a FULL customizable player class, ie if i choose barbarian, make it so that he looks unique from any other barbarian, alter height, facial features, hair, so on, just like guild wars. That’s a must!

Secondly, I wasn't initially happy about the whole 'Red glob' theory, where red globs drop after you kill enemies to recharge your health. How will they manage that in PVP? what will happen if someone hogs the globs? It sounds like ‘Super Mario mushrooms’ to me. This is Diablo 3, people should be true to the series.

Thirdly, the world economy of Diablo 3 must considered deeply, you can't have money be worthless. So far in all Diablo series, money is worth nothing. Also there should be a system which divides the money gained by the party and distributes it equally to all the members of that party. I hate when people hog gold and items! Item drops should be dropped for anyone but set items should be reserved for certain players of the group. Possibly the same with gold items! There needs to be a online trading system for items, maybe a in game NPC trader who collects the item for the price you want to sell, then when another person clicks he can see that item displayed and buy it, then the money gets transferred to your stash.

Another thing id like to see is a proper old school PK system. Not a fair and balanced dual system like in Guild Wars and other related titles. One thing we need to remember is that DIablo 3. Its evil, and you don't know if you can trust your party members. That’s part of the fun of the whole thing! I think past a certain level like if you reach level 10, you should be PK'able or at least the option should be there if they are doing Server Based hosting, so players can choose to enable or disable the option of in game party murders. If they are doing sever based hosting over a large map. Example like guild wars where towns are full of 200 people so on, you can travel a wide distance before you reach a city or do missions to get to another city as shown below

Then certain areas should be areas where players can PK each other. No mans unsafe land! Or when a certain party gets a quest, one of the players should be offered a counter quest, to hinder the ability of the party to complete the quest. Or to even give that person who will be like the party equivalent of the 'mole' the option to murder the members one by one. Don't cry people, again I must remind you this is Diablo, not World of Warcraft.

I hope the designers of this game don't make this another 'fair' and perfectly well balanced game. Sure balancing to a certain point is great and essential, but if you make it too legit it becomes boring and repetitive. Not to mention everyone stops playing it! Give people the freedom of the option at least.

If you can't PK or do any of that stuff then every journey becomes scripted and very repetitive. They should make a Killer / Bounty system. Where if you get killed the person who kills you gets put on the bounty list and you can pay other player to hunt him down. And once he is killed then the money is transferred and your kill is pardoned. Blizzard has some of the best minds working for their products I'm sure they can come up with a similar system that suits the game.

    Character Class.

There NEEDS to be a Paladin of sorts who has been send down from heaven to counter hell. Maybe a fallen anglel like Tyrial who was made mortal and who can only redeem his deeds by destroying evil. A knight in schining armor is a must.

There needs to be a ranger someone who uses javelin, bow, and maybe even has assassin skills ie can use Katanas! Call this class the
Rouge Assassin. There needs to be a all magic character class equivalent to the Diablo 2 sorceress also.

And as far as the ‘Witch Doctor’ the fire skill is stupid. Unless its some type of mixture firebomb skill and he has a equivalent Gas and Frost bomb or something. The term Witch refers to someone who brews herbs in a big pot, you are assuming he can do some type of mixture bombs of some sort. And if its plain fire ability then its stupid. Necromancers don't do that. In no book that I've read do Necromancers or witches have 'elemental' abilities. Maybe the Witch doctor can collect items and herbs while questing, ie pick them up from the ground, and combine them using a magical book to turn them into elexirs or sometype of items Similiar to whats seen in Arcanum.

The great thing about Arcanum is that every item collected can be put to use. Things like scrap metal parts, grass roots, bolts, all can be combined into something cool. Even items can be crafted with certain sheets of metal!

I very much hope that Blizzard looks at titles like Arcanum, Guild Wars, NVN, so on and has a look at some of the better ideas those games have to offer.

Above is a example of attire (clothing) and the various random items that you pick up around the world to be combined V/A a technology or magic book to turn into either a crafted item or a magical elixir so on so forth...

The merchants should respond to you on the type of attire you wear. So if you equip a nice armour they will respect you and treat you well. Offer you good prices on items where as if you have scrappy cheap attire, they will be less
courteous. Just one of many ideas this great game had! I strongly suggest Blizzard looks into it.

Above is a example of some of the various gadgets you can create with various items. Maybe players can go on a scroll hunt to find certain scrolls which tell them how to build things.

    -----------

    Transportation.

We have done transportation on foot for far too long. Guildwars created a quick solution with their worm. Where he could triverse only certain areas of the map normally hostile to mortals!

Above the worm, which is used as a carrier in Elona (above map).

We could have horses, mules, camels, who would be served as transport but also for storage purposes. The way to counter the skills is to have completely alternative skill set for when your riding that type of transport. Its a brilliant idea and I hope Blizzard gives it more thought in Diablo 3.

    ----

    Citys & Towns.

Again I love the guild wars principle of having massive towns with large districts, where you can only quest out with a maximum of up to 8 players. Same system should be utilized and the old Bnet server system for Diablo 3 should be completely phased out.

    ---

The textures of the current Diablo 3 Preview game need to be changed. A great post was made and someone took the time to illustrate the changes. I would direct Blizzard here.

    http://i27.tinypic.com/vep6ix.jpg
    http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8366/contrastqj1.jpg

Lastly add more gore, more spider webs, more blood on the floor, and make the player hate what’s happening in his surroundings. Don't just throw people in there to bash minions, what’s the reason behind it? Maybe a quest that plays out but half way through is a trap.

    ---

In town people should be able to use emotes like Sit, Wave, so on. Also introduce a Dye system where people can colour in their armor. Thats all I can think of right now.

Add Day time, Night time, Rain, Snow, so on to the maps! a world time system and weather events system that occurs.

The ideas and answers are all around us. We just have to look.

1.) Id like to see a Paladin, someone with really cool Knight Like armour who is send directly down from heaven to counter the upcoming threat of hell.

2.) Id like to see a class that utilizes bow, spear, javelin, but who can switch to weapons like Katanas. A Rouge Assassin.

That’s all. The rest is determined on balancing the other classes. Again i must say i find it extremely odd for the Witch doctor to have a fire ability. Why is he the master of fire? are you guys combining a necromancer and elementalist or what? i really don’t get that class and why Blizzard has chosen to ruin a perfectly good necromancer?? *shrugs shoulders*.

Also all characters should be completely visually customizable, so their hair, facial features, height so on.

In some zones of the map you guys should consider adding alternative transportation like the Guildwars Equivilent of the worm.

Example, Horses, Camels, Mule, so on.

When I submitted my ideas, it got locked. Apparently it's illegal to post about your creativity. I better keep my ideas locked up for a more mature staff.

My only main suggestion for the eventual development of Diablo, is that I hope runes and charms return. I hope that the visuals get darker, and the sounds get eerier.

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone was waiting for Diablo III to be announced just so they could whine and complain? People are ALREADY complaining about the art direction of the game? All because it appears more vivid? So early into the development? Don't get me wrong, I agree it seems a little bit over colourful, but just turn the gamma and contrast down, and have a little faith in the company who has satisfied millions of people for a decade. It almost seems as if people were expecting Diablo II: 3D edition and not a brand new, re-imagined sequel to Diablo II. Remember this is a new game, a great deal of things change from 2000- 2008, video games included apparently. The game will change, perhaps you will love it, perhaps you will HATE it, but please, if you dislike Diablo III so much I urge you continue playing Diablo II.
You have to understand that the Art of the game, even tho very war craft looking actually saves Blizzard ALOT of time to develop the game. Its honestly not so bad, its something that will take a little getting used to but in the end will be alright. They need alot more gore, and spider webs in their maps! More garish and evil detail, smired blood on the floor or something! But aside from that its not a bad engine. They were able to recall all the designers from the war craft franchise into this! That means we will be playing Diablo 3 by about 2009 December! So don't bitch! think of it like that! Yeah I initially noticed it too, I'm like hang on... ;) but to be truthfully honest that engine has allot of potential if its workt right! And for the first time we will see some really cool smooth animations of people getting eaten alive, or run over, thrown across the air, so on so forth. I think they should consider adding emotes like wave, sit, lay down all that to the final game. But aside from that so far it looks very decent!

Pk above lvl 10 was in D2, they will probably add in it D3, but we don't know.
Yeah but thats only if you leave town. Im talking about actual group party slaughters. Ie like Diablo 1. Where you simply have the PK option at hand at any time. Example the sword icon at the bottom right hand corner.
