Stamina only seemed to run out early in the game for me.

the allocation was really really really easy for almost every char, about 20 into str, (depending on char and equip) many times 0 into str and the rest into vit. the only exception to the rule are melee chars might want to think about 20-50 into dex depending on equip
and your talking about this after you find all the elite gear, runewords, annis and hellfires, only then would you be able to make a char like this. New account characters would have completely different stats.
The attribute system was really important to me when making characters, the toons i made when starting a new account had completely different attributes then ones i made after finding a lot of gear.
For example my first hammerdin would have a lot more strength, dexterity and energy than my later ones, because after you acquire an anni, hellfire and lots of elite items, you would find you wouldnt need to boost pretty much any attribute except for vitality, this was another thing that added to the replay value of the game.
I will play this game regardless of how blizzard decides to go with the graphics, a lot of us grew up with D1 and D2 and i think most of us will buy it no matter what happens.
You hardly even mentioned anything about titan quest. For those who dont know what it is, its a game that is very similar to diablo 2 and has better features added such as a universal stash system, being able to use characters in single play and online play and many more. The only reason i played this game was because of such a close similarity to diablo, having the tetris grid inventory, and many of the skills or very similar to the ones in diablo 2.
Edit : this game will be a great timekiller until diablo 3 comes out
Barbarian, above all, was the one class I was hoping for the most. Luckily, it's one of the first to be introduced, so next on my list would be the Amazon. Not expecting too much to change - lookin' forward to being surprised, heheh.
sorry man no amazon, as someone allready called it in another thread, there are no "manazons"
I hope your single player character can be transfered to the bnet realm, i wasted a lot of time making that 82 necromancer before i logged onto bnet only to find out i couldnt continue playing him.
For diablo i think they will keep some of his spells (lightning fire and bone prison were nice touches) while adding newer, more dangerous ones too. As for the other bosses who knows.
A lot of talk about whether blizzard is putting in BoE/BoP items, if they do you wont even be able to see what the item looks like on your character without it becoming bound to you, even with the baldurs or planescape method implemented.
A problem i can see occuring wit BoE as of now, the item grid system is 1 item per slot wether it being armor or a weapon. If I find a sexy axe for my barb im not even gonna be able to see how it looks on my character without it becoming bound to me.
Nowhere near the right date, gamespot is highly unreliable. on the blizzard site this has been talked about in many threads, im not trying to guess the date anymore =p
I dont want to see a mailbox in every act lol, a game very similar to diablo called TitanQuest RPG had a caravan stash that allowed you to place items in it (using the same grid inventory the previous diablo series used) you could acess this caravan in every game from every character on your account. It was a nice feature i must say, im leaning more towards a universal stash because in D2:LOD you would have to stay in a game for 5 minutes so it wouldnt end when you leave, and if you log in and out of characters more than 20 times per hour it would disconnect you for around 20 minutes. I lost my enigma this way (i quit for a few months after) and i hope there is a system that helps muling.
I think blizzard will most likely put a class that uses bows in, I doubt the return of the amazon's because of the lack of males, but rather a ranger because they could be both of either sex, just a thought.

Diablo 2's music was intense and fit beautifully in the world of diablo, i dont agree the music was lame at all, they had a great composer.
