Ok so I'm going to approach this from my Point of View and try to

I don't know, I mean the logic is there for me to see, I'm probably not going to convince anyone because most people are so stuck in their stubborn ways, but just because this dungeon, and that outside zone looked all glowing, colours, and happy... doesn't mean the whole game will be.

Way to make a point, you should just hand em that and see if they say F.U.

Ya the guys making D3 had nothing to do with D1 and D2. I mean, guaranteed it was a long time ago, these new guys are pulling their resources from WoW. Like many people have said in here, Diablo is not WoW.

I know that's their breadwinner, but man whatever happened to reinventing yourself? What I'm trying to say is that Starcraft is uniquely its own, so is WoW. Diablo could pass for a WoW add-on when looking at some of those pics. LoL no my cup of tea.

I'm abandoning this game, it's illegitimate to me now.
I can see how this is going to turn out, it'll get pirated more than sold and they'll blame the pirating for it's bad business. I myself won't spend my money on this shit when the fucking team has to draw up examples from everywhere else, they can't even speak for themselves, I've had enough of this companys plagarist ways, I quit.

So I guess it would be accurate to say what you mean is 'F.U. Blizzard', lol had to say it.^_^

Yeah, i think you mean the fact that D1 was dark but the monsters still clearly visible, right?

I think they said something like its not possible anymore because its 3D.
    Not sure though.

    Quote Wilson:

"However, translating the game from 2D to 3D with a dark color palette didn’t make for the best gameplay experience. The first and second iterations of the art direction had a “modern, gritty look” but made it difficult to distinguish enemies from the environment. “When you have 30 creatures on screen — and four or five different types — target prioritization is a factor,” he said. “You need to be able to tell those things apart fast, and you can’t do that when your world is gray and your creatures are gray.”

I will buy it probably. If its WoW crap I will sell it to a friend. That will only take the first 10 minutes of gameplay for me to deside, regardless of whats at the end game. The reason for this being are as follows. DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE REGARDING THE ART DIRECTION OF DIABLO 3. I wouldnt want any carebears to cry.

Weapon glow affects = way to intense.

Monster textures//spell castings = copy/pasted from WoW. Example would be http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/bestiary/darkcultists.xml Clearly a undead caster, with the same exact casting moves an undead from WoW. Look at the art design pictures, its face is red, its clothing aswell looks NOTHING like the 3D model.

WoW art style = Considering the lead Art Designer from WoW works on D3. He wouldnt care what art design was put infront of him before turning it into a WoW-like 3D texture. The proof is undeniable considering the dark cultist page and other textures in the gameplay viideo.

For lack of a better term... Its unrealistic from what i've seen so far. Its diablo 3. Not WoW. Its suppost to be a fantasy game, but it was never intended to be a cartoon, cartoon-like, or cartoony, at least that was my take on the diablo franchise.

WoW inventory went straight into Diablo 3. its entire Art style looks exactly like WoW's. They also have purple texted item drops aswell in the game. (thousand pounder and seige assault dropped them).

The strange fog in the very first cupple of minutes in the gameplay video was very... odd... its like eminating its own blue/green glow. If you took all the lights out of the picture, and only had the fog to see off of you wouldnt have a problem seeing lol. The entire dungeon has a blue//green tint about it that just makes no sense. Theres enough lights in that one dungeon to light NYC.

    Texturally-wise, need I say more? http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff249/JetpackNinjaDinosaur/diablo3cutestatue.jpg

Way to exaggerated armor, I dont really like it when the shoulder pads are able to go through my characters face.

So there not changing it? I would have to say I would honestly be shocked if they did. Because most likely they would be changing everything in the game lol. Some things it really wouldnt hurt if they changed. But if they leave it in a state that it is in currently I either wont buy it, or if I do I will probably sell it to a friend or hang it on my wall with a statement writen under it saying "most anticipated games of the century, that sucked".

Good stuff there, point taken. But don't toss in the towel yet, it has a long time till it's here. Also the textures looking that way I think is because Blizzard downs the graphical quality so they cover a broader spectrum of customers. If they were going to go like Crysis they wouldn't sell as much.

little issues? first 20 minutes? the whole game will have the handpainted cartoon textures and oversized lowpoly dull WoW style.

it cant change and look better the further you get, that would be just stupid, and it wont, blizzard just said it..

and the art is a huge part of the game as its everything you see.
i want Diablo gameplay in a Diablo world, not Diablo gameplay in a WoW world.

You've got a point. I never, ever wanted to play WoW because of the way it looked, nor would I want Diablo, a game I loved because of its goth and satanic themes, to look anything like that. That being said I'm still going to get the game, I'm not going to turn a blinds eye to it just because it isn't exactly what I want. Plus it's definitely too early to make a complete opinion on it just yet. I'm sure they'll release another gameplay trailer and blow our minds.

    Blizzard dev Wilson says:

"Wilson also assured me that the environments will get darker as the game progresses (what’s out now are early stages of the game), and the team is still in the process of “smattering the world with dead bodies and horrific skeletons and things like that” along the way."

That's what I'm talking about. I bet the final version will be great.

Well Blizz seems to keep gameplay over anything else so far.
They sacrificed some things from... graphics(?) for faster and cooler gameplay.

Dont know how good that is, but i hope they find a good balance and a way to improve the game in every aspect plus stay true to the original.

Ultimately Blizzard will not disappoint. I'm sure it will be a great game with a great look.

I was pretty young at the time when D1 and D2 came out. The art, the look is what drew me in. I honestly did not think about game play when I was that young. It all stems from having to grow up in a strict catholic setting, lol, my friends and I thought Diablo was cool because it was dark, evil, and the story was centralized around a demon.

So I would say the art design came first, then the story, and later maybe game play.

The art is just as important as the gameplay.

Games with good art and style actually stick easier in the minds of the players than just a game with amazing gameplay. A good example is an indy-game called Yume Nikki, the gameplay is actually really simplistic and rather stupid and easy to get lost in as it has no real sense of direction. But the way everything is presented to you visually and audibly really helps to drag you into the messed up dreams of a schizophrenic.

I'd actually say it's one of the best games I've ever spent two hours completing, and that's comparing it to Portal.

That's just an example of how art and style can make a subpar game into an awesome one.

The art helps create the mood, and in the past two games that mood was gothic horror. It's now moved from gothic horror to high fantasy.

Art, cinematics..that's what drew me to Blizzard. Art style is extremely important.

I actually agree with this 100%. Think of how many WoW players pay blizz every month, and now think of the small community that still plays d2. Who do you think they are gonna target their marketing towards?

Oh ya, it totally makes sense. if I want to make money I'm going to go towards my target market. Which right now, lol, WoW is it.

Those "52,000" people can just kiss Blizzards ass.

Well, either that or miss out on what's sure to be an awesome game that millions of others will surely enjoy.

I really think that most of those 52,000 will buy the game anyways. It's just that it's a change, and Diablo, like Warcraft and Starcraft, has deep roots with some people. I'm not totally satisfied with what their doing but keep in mind it's not the finished product, who knows when this game will come out, by then I'm sure it will be great. Fanboys will always complain about something, it's just the nature of the beast. :)

You know what though, his response:

“We’re very happy with how the art style is. The art team’s happy. The company’s happy. We really like this art style, and we’re not changing it.”

Pretty to the point. I figured Blizzard would be more customer savy. "We're not changing it" is a little..arrogant?
