Now that I think about a currency system in Diablo, it would be a good addition for players that don't know the prices of things (like Blizzard said) I just hope they don't add professions as well, and other WoW type mechanisms.

YOu all do know that they can acomplish more with a slightly cartoonish look then a realistic look, they talking about it in an interview. take the barb for example, it's very hard to make a realistic charecter pull a gigantic hammer out of his a$$ and swing it in .2 seconds, while making it look clean and crisp. Try playing Age of Conan,0 the animations are all lame because they have to be realistic. I would totally take a small hit in graphics for a game that allows me to do off the wall stuff such as the hammer of the ancients, it just gives blizzard more freedom to play with.

Take a look at the OLD whirlwind animation in D2. Was it animated realistically? HELL no. Did it look awesome? HELL YES.

All of you that LIKE the direction the art is going, are either in denial, young, or have never played a Diablo game. Blizzard have said themselves that the game's art style (and BOSS style, even) are heavily influenced by WoW.

Why is this? Because the entire Diablo team, as of now, consists of the WoW team. The people who created Diablo 2 are NOT working on D3. That's right, all we have in hopes for D3 is a bunch of WoW-crazed developers who are overly proud of their WoW graphics and gameplay.

This game is going to look, and possibly feel like World of Warcraft.

It may still be fun, but it will be World of Diablo. Mark my words. In fact, i'm sigging this for when the game actually comes out.

I think majority of the people opposing these stupid fucking graphics are the people that have been D2 fans for a while. I mean, shit. Play a few hours of D2, bask in the glory of it all, and then look at this. The majority of the "i like! lololol" comments are, imo, coming from a generation raised on cute, fun mmorpgs. :[

Yup, exactly. "Looks cute! can't wait to play it!"

Sometimes I don't even know if i'll buy this game. I'll probably wait a few days for a couple reviews after release, to see if its worth my money.

The guy talks about wanting variety. Sure, we'll be exploring the outdoors AND dungeons. But why can't we have the whole light radius effect back when we ARE in dungeons? I don't see any reason for the whole WoWish green glow junk. At least bring back the dark atmosphere for dungeons, if not outdoors.

    Who was that again?..

Nah, the Grandfather is a colossus blade and its just as straight as all the others.
The most asian like weapon in D2 is the war scythe which kind of resembles a naginata. Like the war staff from the first D.

    Wow, you're the one, lol.

Go look up the Grandfather sword in Diablo 1 (yes, it exists there)

It looks like a Katana. It also exists in Diablo 2 as a Colossus Blade, obviously. (True fan here)

Edit: The ironic thing about this post is that the japanese sword in your sig IS the Grandfather sword. (the graphic for it, anyway)

Edit 2: I just realized you thought I was talking about D2. I was talking about D1's Grandfather.

Blizzard has always meant this. Energy has always meant mental energy. If it meant energy to move your muscles wouldnt Stamina in diablo 2 be influenced by Energy not Vitality.

No. You're assuming that because YOU think energy means mental energy, that Blizzard intended this as well.

I've just done my research, and in Diablo 1, the stat for mana was in fact, labelled magic.

The stat for Diablo 2 is labelled energy, obviously. This means that one can assume this represents the energy of the character, and not just the casting ability.

This being said, its impossible for you to prove that "energy" (in Diablo 2's context) means only mental energy. This is my last post on the subject (i've proven my point)

Stamina is physical energy, energy is mental energy.

And you can say this on what grounds? (Where does Blizzard say "energy" means mental energy?)

. . . Energy in diablo wasn't the energy you are thinking of. Energy you are thinking of is Stamina, if you ran 2 much, you got tired and ran out of energy. Thats what Fury is, Stamina. It is the exact same in everyway except it drains from attacks that require more effort instead of running. It even replenishes itself just like stamina.

Edit: I don't quite understand the point you're trying to make. Stamina is directly influenced by Vitality, as is life, and Mana is directly influenced by Energy. Who's to say what energy means? The universal meaning of energy is the capacity for vigorous activity, or available power. This holds true for both melee and caster classes, in my book.

Edit 2: Furthermore, I believe mana in Diablo 1 was labeled "Intellect" (Correct me if i'm wrong)

But that just further proves the developers intended Mana to be for both melee AND casters in Diablo 2.

I'd like to see runewords return as well, especially since duping will hopefully be gone this time around. Having a powerful runeword will really make you stand out from everyone else.

At the same time, though, I don't want runewords granting skills that a class wouldn't normally be able to use. Everyone being able to teleport, for example. Retarded (even though I had 4 or so characters with Enigma)

I just think Barbs should be Barbs, and Sorcs should be Sorcs. No more skill sharing please.

Only if they have respeccing, AoE, and a hearthstone talent.

    Wanna slap me?

In all seriousness, though, I think the Samurai would be a cool class, especially because Japanese armor was around in Diablo 1. (Also, the Grandfather looked somewhat like a Katana)

I think someone has this in their sig, as well.

This will probably be WoWified, just like everything else. We can probably expect to see a whole separate interface for socketing, complete with security measures (do you REALLY want to socket this item, idiot?) and socket bonuses.

Alright, i'm seeing a lot of people complaining, saying that "Mana" is not an appropriate energy source for melee characters.

    Well, here's the deal.

Remember those little things called ATTRIBUTES in Diablo 2? Those points that you put into Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, or ENERGY?

Well, take a look at energy.

What is it directly linked to? Mana.

Therefore, we can safely assume that mana represents the ENERGY of the character, and not just the magical casting ability. Case closed.

Also: The next time I see someone mention AoE, respec, or WoW in a Diablo 3 topic, i'm going to pull my hair out and/or slap the poster who mentioned AoE, respec, or WoW.
