The darker version looks shit loads better, but i still cant help but be annoyed at the pastel like background and the cartoony look of the enemies.
Generally I don't really care for the photoshop versions since they would probably get boring after awhile and at times make it difficult to see enemies and other players. I'm plenty happy with the direction blizzard has gone.
That being said, I do actually like how this photoshopped screenshot turned out:

Good to know, I think I'll definitely wait for a bundle that has the DLC and both games.

Hmm that is a nice deal. The Left 4 Dead games are a lot of fun but very short. The main difference between 1 and 2 is the setting and melee weapons from what I've seen(only played a demo of two). Two seems to be a minor improvement in gameplay and a bit of a step back in setting(zombies in broad day light in New Orleans? no thanks)

Neat katana. I think I'm bound to have at least one important character use one, though the bulk of the swords I've considered so far have been European and African(there have been some awesome looking Turkish swords I've found).

Well I've been saying forever that I wanted to write a book and I've had some specific ideas floating around for years. Recently I've finally gotten geared up and started compiling my ideas and begun planning out a few books that I intend to write and hopefully publish(also researched the process of getting the works published).
I've started 3 projects that I'm bouncing between (helps me avoid writers block) and the one I'm currently the most excited about is to be a novel or short series targeting kids of late elementary school age and perhaps early middle school kids. I don't want to share details about it online, but a significant portion of the characters will each have a sword that is unique and personal to them.
So, what I've found to be a great source of inspiration is looking at different types of swords in order to develop ideas for characters both major and minor.
What I would like from you guys are descriptions or, even better yet, pictures of swords that you find interesting. They can be real or highly stylized, although I'm not really considering any sci-fi types(lightsabers, etc).
So feel free to post pics from games, movies, actual swords or even your own sketches.

Although the time off was nice, I got to go visit some family.

Not to mention that we don't know what things cost yet. 300 gold could end up being practically worthless or a huge amount of money depending on how they set the prices on goods and services.

and just the picture in case anyone wants it:

edit- oh yeah, I've been watching Gargoyles. I loved that cartoon when I was a kid and it's still quite awesome.

Is that something often suggested or was it just a switch you made for that particularly nice staff? I honestly never read any character guides, I've always hated the idea of them for some reason.

Yeah, a hammerdin was the only way I beat D2 LoD through sp hell mode. Although I did use gear I had found previously with other characters(transferring with ATMA). The ancients really were the hardest part, Baal was a bit of a push over compared to them and some of the mobs in-between.
The only other offline character I played through hell was a zeal/shock paladin that I used exclusively when playing LAN with my then girlfriend, now fiancee. She used a frozen orb/firewall sorc, so we had a nice variety to attack with. Normally we would only play through normal or nightmare before starting new characters, hell mode just wasn't as fun because of the one hit kills and excessive immunes.

I don't think the bosses should be easy to beat, regardless of how many party members you have but on the same note, they shouldn't be impossibly hard either.

Have fun.

Nah, you're not alone at all. There have been plenty of people that have taken issue with just about every change that's been made. It's just that most people with complaints and concerns brought them up as the announcement was made and have since either come to accept the change or got tired of talking about it.
I think the vast majority have been disappointed by some changes along the way. I was certainly unhappy about the lack of traditional, offline LAN support, but there's no sense in me complaining about it after I've voiced my opinion on the matter several times already.
Another example for me was the original video's lack of "tetris" style inventory. I didn't really like the change, felt it took away from the feel of the game a little. Luckily for myself and others that were unhappy with the change, they've since changed the inventory system a couple times and seem to have found something most people are happy with.
After all, these forums are all about sharing thoughts, questions, concerns, etc. about the game. People agreed with you on some points, not on others. That's just how things go.:)
edit- good topic by the way.

I would like to see a vault system or at least a transfer program like ATMA built into D3, loading mule after mule shuffle things is no fun.
