I’ve always liked the idea of having to fight yourself somehow, maybe some sort of mirror match or something along those lines? Of course this would have to be very carefully thought of to prevent loopholes from experienced players (ie: activating the quest before spending skill points… taking off equipment, starting fight then putting equipment back on… etc…)

There is no way Blizzard will make it impossible to bypass an obstical simply because you do not have the correct skill or character for that scenario.

I would be happy for either the WoW skill system or the previous D2 system to be implimented into D3, Blizzard always make the skills interesting and its a fun challange to find the best build that suits your intentions over repeative playing.

The only harsher thing for a penalty that I can think of would be to take something that I found to be very well done in Mythos. In Mythos when you die you receive a -5% to Luck(which is MF) for like 5 minutes. To make this even better instead of a time limit which sucks cause you can just go afk for that time, make it so instead of a time limit, there is a monster kill limit.

So lets say you die, you then have to kill X number of monsters equal to or greater than your level in order for the debuff to go away. I think thats a really nice way to keep people playing with the debuff they get from dieing. Its a loot penalty and it forces you to not go afk and also forces you to not go and kill low level mobs.

I quite like this idea and seems to be loophole free.

    Other ideas I have are:
-Perhaps when you die, and collect your corpse your max health and/or mana are reduced by 25% or something (as you JUST died...) this debuf is on a timer for X seconds upon which you fully recover.
-Gold or Random items from you inventory can be taken from the monster(s) that killed you. When you recover and kill the monster(s) they drop your item. In multiplayer games, your items should only be visable for you to collect to avoid other players simply running by, killing the monster(s) that killed you, and then taking your item.
-Slower movement debuff for X seconds after corpse is collected.

Doh! Thought I had some unique ideas there. I think the battlenet chat-room trading has to be implimented but agree there may be some loopholes in the 3rd auction house idea.

    Hmmmmm...

    Hi guys,
I had a few ideas to throw around regarding the trading system and was wondering what everyone thought about it?

    1) Allow trades in the battlenet chat room: You can discuss trading and when an agreement is reached you can simply open a trade window with a player and put items up for trade without having to start a game. Once both players have accepted, the items are exchanged as normal.

    2) Allow you to transfer items from one character to another in the battlenet chat room: It would be great if you could simply open up a window within battlenet itself and transfer items from one character to another without having to join a game, drop items in a secret location and come back in with your other character or mule hoping that your connection doesn’t get disconnected, the game closes or someone hasn’t stolen your items.

    3) Have some sort of live, global auction house system: Have an NPC or a kind of auction station allowing players to advertise items for sale and select what item(s) they would like in return. Your sale item can be purchased from someone even if they are in a different game providing they have the item(s) that you requested in return. Once you have posted an item for auction it should stay active for X period and it can sell even when you are offline, and when you login the next time battlenet posts you a message "You have successfully sold 1 extra shiny sword(s) for 3 stone of Jordan ring(s)" and the new items appear in the inventory of the character who sold them.

    Thoughts, suggestions, comments, queries?

Exactly, 10 points for effort but probably not the best thing to implement. It simply wouldn't be fair if you worked extremely hard and long to find your high-end items, or spend countless hours finding goods to trade for these high-end items only to find yourself being afraid of using them incase you die.
Plus LAG deaths and such are not uncommon on battlenet and there'd be nothing worse then loosing your brand new shiny helmet simply because you lagged out.

I do however see your concept and that is to increase the harshness of dying, but I think one of the biggest punishments in dying in most RPGs is not that you lose durability (and in-turn gold to repair items) but the fact that you have to walk to your corpse is punishment enough, especially when surrounded by monsters. In D2 you actually also lost gold and experience which made you extra careful not to die, but I think this is as far as you can go. You need to receive a penalty but nothing long term that is permanent or that you can't recover from.

Yes, I hope that site is shut down or at least not replicated in D3. Hopefuly the D3 economy is good enough and the trading system is user friendly and sufficent.

If gold is actually worth something in D3 then you have a common currency that can be used for purchase/sale of items... Problem solved?

posted a message on Mf System?
I'm happy with the current D2 MF setup however would be happy to see a drop system where each player gets their own items and can't loot others. This makes it fair for ranged attackers who are generally away from the corpse to be able to get items too. The more MF the individual player has, the more chance to drop a good item for that player. Simple...

Its probably safe however if crappy items (white and blue heading items) should be free-for-all drops...

posted a message on PVP system.
Hmmm I dunno, I didn't mind the D2 PVP system but I think something needs to be done to avoid gold farming, naked kills and body guarding. Personally I would like to see the fair PVP system of WoW be implimented into D3, where both players must agree to become hostle with eachother before a fight can take place. Or alternativley perhaps you can flag yourself as hostile, and can only attack (or be attacked by) other hostile players?

Finally, maybe when you host a game you can tick a PVP ENABLED box and all other joiners can see this prior to entering the game. One of the worst things about D2 is when lowibies join a public game to quest and follow the story and some lvl 99 sorceress joins and PKs you all just before the end boss to be an ass...

    Thoughts?

I'd like to see a ranged glass that was good at bows but also had improvements to the other ranged items that were crappy and/or never used (crossbows, throwing weapons, throwing potions etc...)

    posted a message on Leveling
I remember the early days on D2 (pre LOD) it was incredibly hard to get to 99. On bnet I had a lvl 97 amazon from countless months of solid playing and was seen as a god, there was a very very small number of lvl 99s on D2. About a year after LOD's release, I decided to purchase it and found it incredibly easier to get to 99 online, infact I made like 2-3 lvl 99 characters in a few weeks from doing the same sort of grinds.

In my opinion; bring back the very tricky leveling-up that we had in D2 originally, stop the dupes and hacks to ensure difficulty in grinding, and think of a way to stop low level characters leeching experience when not participating or helping as this will discourage people simply getting rushed to hell difficulty and getting free level-ups till they can fight by themselves.

posted a message on Teleport returning in D3?
Ways to nerf the teleport spell could be as simple as implimenting one or more of the below:

-Have a set casting time, IE: character has an animation for 2-3 seconds before the casting takes place

-Increase the mana cost per teleport (perhaps this could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)

-Disable the ability to teleport through walls

-Have a cooldown before you can cast it again (perhaps this could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)

-Have a % chance of it to fail and not be successful (perhaps this could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)

-Make it not so accurate, where it teleports you X metres from where your cursor is (perhaps this inaccuracy could be reduced spending more skill pts in it)

    Just ideas.

Yeah, if you had to really steriotype and pick the 3 remaining classes from a hat it would likely be a ranger type class, a healer type class and a mage type class. Obviously Blizzard will put a cool spin on this and make them unique and specalised, but I predict this will be the general concept.
