Didn't seem to do the trick at all :/

Gnub have you tried to the re-install from Safe Mode w/ Networking? There were several occasions when this was the ONLY way I could get past the "Updating Setup FIles" bug.

    I plan to in short,

    1. Turn over every single rock and body in the game and open every chest.
    2. Explore and observe every dungeon, cave, cellar, den and areas/towns
    3. Listen to every single piece of lore
    4. Enjoy the experience

I don't care if it takes me 3 months to hit inferno  . But gl to all those who desire to be world first level 60.

^ what he said. I can't rush, I just HAVE TO KNOW what's in that corner! xD Definitely looking forward to lore. Diablo is actually the only Blizzard game that keeps me entertained lore-wise. It's not too complicated, has some decent twists, is dark, "gothy" "demonic", leaves many speculations and is generally good in driving the player through the game if you catch my drift. It borrows a lot of things from other religions, beliefs and myths - but Blizz was always good with borrowing great concepts and mixing them together in their own way.

I'm with you two. I intend to savor ... every .... moment!

My current plan is to roll a HC Wizard along side my SC Wizard. So ... should HC die, I have something I can immediately fall back on to continue playing.

This is of course assuming I'll be able to stop playing on my SC just to re-run content in HC. Shall have to wait and see...

I've thought about doing this. The zoom view is cool in the heat of battle, but I don't think I could deal with the loss of field of view.

Hmmm might gimme something to do with Patch 16 now that I don't have to worry about overachiever anymore (yeah, I know... doesn't matter... But .... as lame is this may sound, I wanna be able to say "Yeah, I did that.").

posted a message on STUCK on Updating setup files
Try rebooting the system into 'Safe Mode with Networking' (mash on F8 just before the windows logo comes up).

Run the launcher, it should update the tools. After that, the update will most likely freeze, if it does reboot back to normal mode.

Next time you run the launcher it should skip the 'Updating Tools' part and begin downloading the patch/update whatever it happens to be.

This is the only way I've ever been able to get by the "Stuck at 60% Updating Tools" issue.

Do you run a 64-bit OS? This seems to be a common trend.

EDIT: I would like to add that I personally have not had this issue since the last tools update (the one a few days ago, not patch 16). Not sure if they 'fixed' it or if my Windows finally 'just' started to let it work. Dunno...

Are U sure Siegebreaker is cut out? Because I thought they only cut those unique death aminations in siege -event, but still kept the event (and Siegebraker).

You may be right. I'm really not sure...

posted a message on To all the beta players - computer specs?
Here's my main specs, I play at 1366x768 (old 26" TV is my display atm, my weakest link) with all graphics settings maxed. I've been having the micro-stuttering issue that tons of beta players have been reporting. Most of the time it runs silky smooth at a solid 60 fps (V-Sync turned On).

Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.Sniper (Ver. 1) w/ Onboard Bigfoot Killer NPU and Soundblaster X-Fi CA20K2
CPU: Core i7 960 (stock speed)
    RAM: 6GB DDR3
GFX: Gigabyte GTX 470 w/ 1280MB (Super Over Clock ed.)
    PSU: Corsair 950W

    Siegebreaker anyone? XD

    Wat?

In reference to insta-death boss mechanics. Scripted events like the Siegebreaker were cut because they were overly complicated to program.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Uncut
    1. Charms and the Talisman. The major problem surrounding charms in D2 was rectified by the inclusion of the talisman in D3. I really liked the idea of the talisman, I was really looking forward to see what they'd do with it, but I get why they scrapped it. It was just a redundant item, it's just an item with stats, like any other.
That's why I thought it would be great if they'd have a seperate stack of bonuses removed from thjose you can get from your normal items. Something like, maybe, they remove class skill bonuses from normal items, but only implement them on charms. SOmething like that.

    2. The Mystic. The sadest day in D3 development for me was when the Mystic received the axe. To be perfectly frank, I wouldn't change a thing. Bash said the reason they removed the Mystic was because they serve the same function as gems. That couldn't have been further from the truth. There are a total of four gems, which function as normal items that drop randomly. There were more than 300 mystic recipes, and you have full control on adding enchants whenever you want.
I would like them to return the Mystic the same state they left her in.

I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be seeing both these return in future expansions. Assuming there will be 2 expansions (fingers crossed) I'm thinking we will see Charms (or at least something similar) appear in Expansion 1, probably along with an extra stash tab. I believe the Mystic will make her return in Expansion 2. The extra item enhancements from here would make the most sense for true (fully expanded) endgame imho.

posted a message on Four players per game does seem a little small...
I'm fine with 4. Though, I will admit, my only disagreement with this is the fact you can't have all 5 classes in one game.

I mean, from a lore standpoint, if 5 heroes are working together to figure out what the hell is going on and ultimately bring down Diablo, why can they not all work together -- at the same time?

Understandably, 4 players max suits the game mechanics, but 5 would fit the lore better.

Excercise: I want to stay as alert as possible for this, so i will need my 1 hour a day brisk exercise. Crossfit will do it, but a good jog if i dont feel like driving into town ( i live in the sticks - out of town for you city dwellers)

Fixed that for you. Not all of us 'Americans' live in the city. Here in VT (at least among my circle) we call the sticks the boonies.

And BTW Game != Life (unless you're into e-sports). Don't put your entire life on hold just to play a damn video game. Enjoy it when it comes out (maybe, maybe take a day off or two; I personally haven't decided what I'm doing on this front yet). Take a break for a few hours a day and take your girl out to eat or something. Spending 5 days straight might burn you out and lessen your enjoyment of the game later. Just some food for thought.
