Is that the best answer you have ? It won't be now, then, so don't worry about it ? I don't know how I can respond to someone so lazy that they only made one sentence.
Less more discussion. See what I did there ? Creativity and elaboration, try it.

Hehehe you know what the funny thing is. I was playing Warcraft 3 when I first had this happen, and everyone just assumed I was talking about the Diablo series. Still the problem is the same, people with incredibly long names that change them in random ways, and you aren't going to type in a squelch command and get it right, in the middle of a game even if you could distinguish the characters.

and though it doesn't make anything impossible, you wouldn't think it was primitive if someone was doing it to you filling up your screen....

I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned this but sometimes on a game you get idiots who send you super huge txt messages in private over and over again so they can try to disrupt or annoy you while playing the game. It would be really great if Blizzard made a /squelch *69 command so that you could squelch the last person who sent you a message.

Some people would ask, "Why don't you just type their name in" that only works when they have a name that can be typed in that isn't too long, if they use all capital I's and lower case L's then you will never get the combination right.

I hope someone from Blizzard actually does something about that problem. The command I just mentioned wouldn't even need a new dialogue box or anything though it would mean the software has to store the name of the people messaging you each time you receive a message.
They could put a selection in chat options, "enable *69 squelching" maybe even shorten it to just /s *69.

What do you think ? And yes I know they don't like to use * in chat commands... could probably do it without it but with its so much easier to remember.

I think that we are trying to use the number of classes, to fill in for the lack of diversity that we saw in Diablo 2. In D2 there was a hammerdin, smiter, and maybe Vengance user. With sorcerer, there was mainly frozen orb, chain lightning, fireball/meteor and the majority had frozen orb. Instead of 10 different classes, what we need is to not have only 3-4 attack spells per class that are capable of getting us to and through Uber Tristram. Sometimes it only seems like there should be more classes, because each class has the depth of a kiddy wading pool.

The real question is can runes turn otherwise stupid/minimal damage spells into uber spells...

Luc I think a point into energy giving resistance would be too general compared to a point into actual spell types giving resistance. One thing I hate about Diablo 2 is if you run into a monster with manaburn, one hit and you lose half your mana ! If they just made it a relative/realistic amount of mana loss, then one point into energy would be adding resistance, to manaburn.

I also don't think energy should increase damage of their spells unless there is option to fire off spell and use more mana like say, do 100% more damage but double the mana cost, 200% damage but triple the mana cost that would give a little balance but magic users already increase damage to spells... by upgrading the level of the spell, or doing the same to a synergy for that spell.

If not 4 categories, 2, it can be as simple or complicated as they want, and whether it adds to the game depends only on what the skills are. If one of those skills is AoE freeze arrow or merc throwing a healing potion at you when your low, that could be a welcome addition.

Only thing I don't like about just giving any weapon to a merc and then making him use it is that means his weapon abilities would be generic a.k.a mediocre.

I want to be able to "Pimp my merc !" I want him/her to have some different spells from regular characters, I would rather not see the S.O.S. but coming from an NPC. I want the merc to have a small skill set but similar to human one, I want to be able to put any and all kind of equipment on the merc including rings, amulets, boots. Hell maybe even a skill circle, just a bunch of skills around a big circle ordered clockwise by which one has the highest percent chance to go off: 12 o'clock: 10%, 3 o'clock 20%, 6 o'clock 30%, 9 o'clock 40% with each hour(category) on this having 2-3 skills going toward middle, each of these having (an adjustable) up to 90% chance to be selected and a final skill that amplifies damage and activates one of the 2-3 skills before it but only 10% chance to activate. Of course I'd want to be able to put runes into this circle of skills either in the category where it applies to all or in the individual ones to make an almost unpredictable array of variation from the merc (making it less boring and more useful) and at the same time an almost infinite storage location for unused runes :)

They could even have fun with the look make all the subcategories drop straight down so it looks like a dreamcatcher...

It would also make it so no two mercs are ever alike, a common problem with D2, in a big game the mercs stop mattering, you just see 8 mercs all with insight weapons meleeing the monsters..... and more than one insight carrying melee merc fails to make a difference.

SFJake is right, you do kill lots of bad guys thinking of it from that prospective it really fails to make sense. I would like player granted Karma though but there are so many ways it can be screwed up by other players they are too numerous to mention the least of which being players going from game to game saying,"Give me karma and I'll stop spamming !" :)

I want Karma to keep out the riffraff and spamers, your idea of being able to kill Charsi and other NPC would be fun in single player but widely open to abuse in multiplayer if people killed all the potion/tp venders so you ran out of that stuff they could kill the game for the 7 other people and they'd have to start a new one of course (so they would repeatedly). If you could only kill unimportant NPCs why bother...

If an idiot killed the NPC needed to finish or start a quest in multiplayer ( and they would often ). Evil hirelings sound interesting...

Well ok 3/4 demon that's a whole lot of demon........ Is there a place in an instruction book where it actually says the humans are half angel half demon Seth ? I said that in the paragraph above the one you quoted but that was a general reference to the Bible and not anything within Diablo.

Short translation: how did this guy get here, why is he that color, back story back story back story. The X-men was a joke, it has many different colors of mutants, an extreme example (which you obviously missed). The 500 lb gorilla in the room entry was referring to a commercial/common saying well known to about 90% of Americans..... and no, I never said anything about Aragon and Liv Tyler somehow joining the gorilla so I don't know where you got that from but now I think you will understand it all.

Also the Lord of the Rings thing, the only thing you didn't ask about... I mention because between the hobbits, elves etc. they go into a long 10-15 minute explanation of each race, showing you pictures of where they come from etc. sometimes its good to just dive in and watch/play some action who cares about an element of a game/movie that exists solely so that you ask why it is there but the character is essentially the same as all the others. I don't care why the paladin is there, I didn't read his life story, or the life story his people and I never will and I don't need to see pictures of his home town/church etc. things you might want to put in if paladin or other character is non-human.

Yes most of the characters have been human, but there is one 500 lb gorilla in the room that nobody has mentioned yet, gives us one non-human class then two pretty soon Diablo will be looking for "One ring to rule them all" and that's the last thing we want. You want to see more races in Diablo? go south of the border and get the good stuff, then put on some 3D glasses (the new ones).

You add the non-humans and then you have to start talking about why this guy is half blue, this guy has elf ears, this guy is gray it goes from being Diablo to "Real World": Sanctuary Edition all about who's screwing whom. Ex. Lord of the Rings, they waste good killing time, with Aragon trying to get close to Liv Tyler and those ears of hers. Keep it simple. If they really want to reach all audiences they need to make it so that female character models are loosely/conservatively based on Pamela Anderson but we don't need even more back story on how/who.

There is a subtle familiarity with the all classes being human, its not Lord of The Rings, its not X-men, its not Jersey Shore, its Sanctuary and all non-humans are the enemy and I can live with that.

Don't think anyone has mentioned that half demon half angel is essentially a human :) capable of life giving mercy and unspeakable acts of cruelty, could go to heaven or possibly hell. Funny thing is, think about it, have you seen a non-human character on Diablo 1 or 2 ? Other than a monster, its not like we have many options to choose from. Maybe they could do an alien, but uh this isn't Starcraft, they could bring back Blood Raven..... but we've seen her like before in two games already.

Half demon or half angel is trickier, either its a Democrat or a Republican, half angel then Tyrael's going to have some "esplainin to do" or half demon, shouldn't the other heros vanquish it on sight ?

Well I can guess the main bosses don't resist fire or anything because if they did it would make whatever element they resist/immune to useless and that character who uses it, also useless, but the only reason I brought up the bosses not being immune was because Clew postulated that "superior" demons made the minion monsters immune to elements and I noted that three of the bosses were "Prime Evil's" aka, the first, older than superior.

A resistance increase with higher level masteries for the sorceresses would seem to make a lot of sense though. As the barbarian levels up he gets more strength so he can hold better gear. Compared to Barbarian, Sorceress defensive progression is rather flat even when she is plying her trade....

I admit though, this technique sometimes isn't the most feasible one.. Imagine if you will, a world where prostitutes were immune from STDs and soldiers immune to bullets...... chaos.
