crayonsmind posted a message on Mastering All The Set Dungeons - Build Guides, Videos, Rankings And Tips!

Welcome to my Set Dungeons Build Guides and Videos!

This thread has some general tips and tricks to completing all the Set Dungeons, as well as individual builds and example videos of how to complete each Set Dungeon SOLO!. The videos and guides are based on the current live Patch 2.4, rather than the various PTR (Public Test Realm) versions where Blizzard were balancing the Set Dungeons. If you get assistance with the Set Dungeons, the majority of these are much easier to complete, but I can't really give you many tips there as I've done all of these solo.

    Barbarian Build Guide Thread

    Crusader Build Guide Thread

    Demon Hunter Build Guide Thread

    Monk Build Guide Thread

    Witch Doctor Build Guide Thread

    Wizard Build Guide Thread

    Some general comments and tips:

    • If you're attempting the Season 5 Conquest for Mastering 8 Set Dungeons and are only plan on playing two classes, by far the two best class choices are Demon Hunter and Crusader. Most of their sets don't require much additional gear so farming up the Sets shouldn't take TOO long and their Set Dungeon difficulty isn't too high. If you have party members to help drop you the various required items, it will speed up the gearing process tremendously. If you play more than two classes, you can pick and choose Set Dungeons from the ranking list below.
    • The majority of monsters in Set Dungeons spawn in completely random locations throughout the dungeon! In Set Dungeons where you have to hit a certain amount of monsters with a particular skill, you can constantly restart the Set Dungeon by leaving through the Green Portal that you entered without having to use Town Portal (which takes a long time). This tip will allow you to get the majority of your objectives completed at the start of the dungeon, rather than worrying about it towards the end.
    • For players who are unable to select certain skills for their slots, you will need to enable 'Elective Mode' by going to the Game Menu (pressing Escape), clicking the Options tab, clicking the Gameplay tab, then under 'Interface' you need to tick the 'Elective Mode' option. This allows you to pick any and all skills (with some special exceptions) for your Left Click, Right Click, and Slots 1-4.
    • The Kanai's Cube recipe (Skill of Nilfur) which converts Set Items into a random item of the same Set will be your best friend, so DON'T scrap any spare duplicate pieces of the Set until you have at least 5 or 6 total items of the Set!
    • As mentioned above, it's possible to get party members to assist you in Set Dungeons, which will make the majority of these Set Dungeons easier.
    • For Hardcore players, please make sure you attempt these Set Dungeons on 'NORMAL DIFFICULTY'. Also ensure that the rough area around the Set Dungeon is clear of monsters before you attempt it, in case you take fatal damage! When you take fatal damage, a Green Portal spawns in front of you which takes you back to the entrance of the Set Dungeon but DOES NOT HEAL YOU. Therefore a monster can easily take a swipe and kill you. This also means you should avoid using the Moratorium Legendary gem (thanks to user 'Cyberdoc' for bringing this up) at all costs if you play Hardcore, because the gem can 'stagger' and deal damage to you even after you exit the Set Dungeon and kill your character because normal Hardcore death rules apply once you've re-entered the normal world via the Green Portal. An easy fix for Blizzard would be to simply spawn characters at full health when they exit the Set Dungeon, but this is currently not the case.

Below is the overall difficulty of each Set Dungeon - Easiest to Hardest based on my own experiences roughly (your own attempts may vary!). I've started with Easiest so it's clear for anyone wanting to get the Conquest to Master 8 Set Dungeons. Note that the rankings below are just a general idea, it will greatly depend on how comfortable you are with the class and set, as well as supporting gear and RNG in the Set Dungeons.

    Difficulty Solo (Easiest to Hardest)

    1. Invoker - Crusader
    2. Natalyas - Demon Hunter
    3. Immortal King - Barbarian
    4. Shadow - Demon Hunter
    5. Zunimassa - Witch Doctor
    6. Innas - Monk

    8. Sunwuko - Monk
    9. Earth - Barbarian
    10. Light - Crusader
    11. Helltooth - Witch Doctor
    12. Tal Rasha - Wizard
    13. Marauder - Demon Hunter
    14. Akkhans - Crusader
    15. Vyrs - Wizard
    16. Rolands - Crusader
    17. Unhallowed Essence - Demon Hunter

Sorry I rarely check diablofans anymore, Season 6 kind of killed my enjoyment of the game with the Firebug issues and all.

Anyhow, I just checked all the links in Chrome and Firefox and they appear to work for me, could you post specifically what Guide you're trying to look at and what browser you are using? That way I can refer it to a mod if it's something I can't fix by editing, thanks!

Unfortunately the main problem with what you're trying to explain with the way you completed the Set Dungeons is that this thread is not designed for people who play this game extensively like you and me and who can figure out various ways of completing the Set Dungeons. If you are able to do so then you have no need for guides and assistance, which is basically how I've attempted every single dungeon myself, but your opinions on what you felt were difficult dungeons are duly noted. The simple fact is that the majority of the people who attempt Set Dungeons WILL have problems with a lot of these dungeons, because they simply don't know skills/items/mechanics exist no matter how many times they attempt the Set Dungeons, and this is who the target audience is.

My guides provide people an OPTION for clearing the Set Dungeons with items they should look for, and I update the guides to make the Set Dungeons EASIER to complete solo, not HARDER. If you want to make your own guides explaining how you've completed these Set Dungeons with the bare minimum gear required, feel free to do so and link them here!

I'll just reiterate once more that the rankings are purely MY opinion, which is based off a combination of how hard I found them to be and how I felt an average player with basic knowledge of the class would find them to be. You've attempted the Set Dungeons in your own particular way and that's cool, I did a bunch on both Seasonal Softcore and Hardcore so I know its definitely possible to do a lot of these with minimal paragons gear.

You also need to understand that the reason a lot of people are having issues with sets like Firebirds and Jade Harvester is simply that they are the Starter Set you get from Haedrig's Gifts. As a result, even casual players who know very little about the game will be attempting the starter Set Dungeon (there have been quite a few people who have asked me about Elective Mode). As long as you accept the fact that your rankings are not the be all and end all of rankings and that inevitably people will find things harder than others, lets leave it at that.

Welcome to my Set Dungeons Build Guides and Videos!

You can find general information and Set Dungeon guides for the other classes at my Set Dungeon Thread.

This thread lists the builds for each Wizard Set Dungeon and associated Mastery requirements, and each build has an attached Video of the Mastery clear. I found the Firebirds Set Dungeon to be quite interesting in terms of setting up your build and items to hit a sweet spot in terms of damage and toughness. The Delseres Set Dungeon was a little tedious due to having to hope for good monster spawns in order to clear certain objectives. Overall the Wizard has the highest difficulty dungeons.

Difficulty - Easiest to Hardest based on my own experiences (your own attempts may vary!)

    1. Tal Rasha
    2. Vyrs
    3. Delseres
    4. Firebirds

This thread lists the builds for each Monk Set Dungeon and associated Mastery requirements, and each build has an attached Video of the Mastery clear. I found most of these Set Dungeons to be of easy to average difficulty, with the abundance of left over gear from last season/patch Monk meta helping out a great deal. I found I could recycle a lot of my monk build concepts between the Sets, mainly consisting of stacking as much Cooldown Reduction, Spirit Generation and Resource Cost Reduction as possible.

As you'll see in my updated Firebirds Set Dungeon Mastery video, I actually did it without Talisman of Aranoch, but it requires very good positioning and dodging as well as the usual bit of luck with monster spawns.

In terms of difficulty of the Set Dungeons for the classes overall solo, I'd rank them (easiest to hardest):

    1. Demon Hunter
    2. Crusader
    3. Monk
    4. Witch Doctor
    5. Barbarian
    6. Wizard

Basically the Wizard Set Dungeons have a lot of middle to hard-ish difficulty dungeons, while Witch Doctor and Barbarian have one super difficult dungeon. The Monk has middle difficulty dungeons while the Demon Hunter and Crusader have mostly simple dungeons.

    Quote from Kasiopec»

Just take your friends like sup barb, sup monk to pull mobs at some specific dungeons. Don't spend to much nerves on this shit.

I am playing wd, was thinking since i have int items i will do it easy, mhm yea. DMO set.... i just almost crushed my pc.. then asked my friend to give me DMO tornado wep and pulling bracers as a result = gg easy.

dunno how am i going to do dh and monk, since i have no dex items at all ...

The primary stat on your supporting gear doesn't really matter at all, most of these Set Dungeons don't require high damage output, so items like Intelligence Leoric's Crowns, Illusory Boots, rings etc are all usable in the Dexterity Set Dungeons. It's more about the Legendary Power than the stats on the gear usually.

Got my wings yesterday thanks to this guides! Soloed all of them except for Roland. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but I couldn't kill everything within the time limit.

It was the last set dungeon I needed and after spending the whole day trying to drop/upgrade into a Golden Flense (oh, yes, I mastered all dungeons with fresh seasonal toons) I gave up after 20+ tries and asked a friend to help me kill the mobs after completing the main objectives.

Although I already said it in post #2, once again thank you for this - with the help of your guide I've recently completed all of them. Just off the top of my head, some thoughts I had while completing them on how to potentially improve the guides:

Wastes: While this is definitely one of the most difficult ones, I'd *strongly* recommend the use of Furious Charge - Cold Rush (instead of Battle Rage). It makes this dungeon orders of magnitude easier, since Cold Rush stuns the big tremors! I've even toyed around with Leap (Call of Arreat for an additional pull, but also Death from Above for an additional CC) instead of War Cry. In the end, sticking to War Cry might've been better, but it worked for me. However, I definitely recommend everyone who gets frustrated to try Furious Charge. My route was to go to the left side first, just circle the two rows of swinging hatchets there, then go back to the big area at the bottom. Before I would go up through the left obstacle course I would make sure to have at least 4 of the 5 Rends completed - otherwise simply remake the game. The top area is a bit more difficult for kiting mobs around, especially if there are Tremors or elites left. However, if you have 4 (or even 5) of your Rends completed, you can entirely focus on killing everything on the right and top side - and with Furious Charge+WW it is virtually impossible to fail. Thanks to Furious Charge you can wear Focus and Restraint as well which means you have so much more damage, control, and speed...

Firebird's: I was really worried about this dungeon being one that requires a lot of gear tweaking - in particular, "nerfing your damage". Turns out that wasn't the case that much. I don't know why, but I had no issues setting large groups on fire (sometimes getting 2x the 20 mobs in one single pull) even with 1m+ sheet DPS. What I did was optimize for super maximum CDR (65% or so), such that I had Black Hole virtually up all the time. Also, reset all your paragon points on the first three tabs (except movement speed and CDR)! Restart the dungeon until you get a map on which you get the Meteor killing blow right at the entrance on one big pull - then you can focus on the first objective. After I had this done, what I would do is reassign my defensive paragon points (!) which would make it impossible for the mobs to kill me (400k life, 5m toughness seems to be the cutoff above which you virtually can't die in most circumstances). Then, whenever I saw a lot of mobs quickly cast Black Hole+Meteor+Disintegrate. I guess due to the delay of Meteor you can basically get them damaged from the first tick of Disintegrate before the Meteor hits if they're closely pulled together in your Black Hole. It worked quite well, even with high sheet DPS, and once you completed the first objective you can assign all paragon points to intelligence and the other offense stats, and at that point your damage should be high enough to blast everything away in no time. I'm sure I was just a bit lucky here, but I was surprised to find this dungeon much much easier than Delsere's - which took me probably the longest of all.

Unhallowed Essence: Only thing I changed was to move Evasive Fire off the left mouse button to button 4, which I felt was essential. It's so easy to accidentally kill Spiderlings with a left mouse button click. Also make sure to have no Thorns damage. Once you're sure to have absolutely no "passive damage", you can just Vault around on the left side of the map, like you said, to group up mobs and get at least 4-5 of the groups there - if not just restart, it's not worth it. After I took Evasive Fire off the mouse button and just forced myself to only attempt dungeons with a good spawn close to the entrance, it didn't take me too long (if you have a couple of 15-19 Spiderling groups at the entrance just leave right away).

Vyr's: I think the main difficulty that some people might have here is get used to the "fixed" teleport position on the Archon skill bar. What helps a lot is to put teleport on button 3 so that regardless whether you're in Archon or not, teleport will always be on the same key. Also, it might be a good idea to have Archon on button 1, because you want to be hammering it like crazy when you're in Archon form, but once Archon ends and you accidentally hit it 3-4 times all your Arcane Power is gone if you put one of the three buffs on there. Once you change those two skills on your skill bar, this should be a one-shot dungeon for most people; you got plenty of time, just scout every corner thoroughly before moving on and you're good.

Shadow's (Impale): I'm surprised to see this in top 4 of the easiest - I'd rank that one top 10, maybe top 5 of the hardest. But maybe I was just unlucky, or expecting it to be easier (did that as second to last), or maybe had some wrong gear. But I was failing that a lot due to running out of mobs and felt that are only 101 monsters in this rift... which of course is not true, but it was my feeling ;-) In the end I figured that having Impale on left click didn't work for me (too often accidentally double-hit a monster, breaking the chain, and then not having enough). I also didn't use Companion - the bats just killed some skeletons such that I didn't have enough left for the Impale chain. With those adjustments it still took a few tries... not sure why, but maybe if anyone else has a problem with that one those two pieces of advice might help.
