posted a message on Account banned when i've never used 3rd party software

I was banned for my 2 button macro. I think that was it, I was using Razer's software. No other software was used. It was used for farming where I did a RoV and Vengeance from a single thumb button. Yes, I already know it was against the ToS, but I did it anyway since it was a quality of life thing for me. Surely they wouldn't ban me for something as simple as that, right? Yep, wrong way of thinking.

So yes there are true cheaters that want that 2000-3000+ paragon at the end of the season and run bots 22-24 hours a day. They should be put in a category of cheater's leader board, or something like that. Heck I wouldn't mind going there, at least I wouldn't be out of the money I spent on both games at launch. But Blizzard has a way of being a bit controlling, you play a game their way, or you don't play at all, and F*** all if they are going to give you a cent back.

Blizzard is out for the money, and that is it. They are a business. Their user base for D3 is going down fast, so what can they do? Make those people that are "hooked" (like me, I have well over 3000 hours sitting behind the keyboard, logged), into buying another copy, if they don't, we can wind down some of the servers that they play on. Less up keep. They can start with the major infraction and start going down the chain until they only have a few people, then they can run at bare minimum. They can use up some of that space in the AT&T Colocation in Irvine for Overwatch that is still ramping up.

Living in Orange County CA, I personally know people that work for Blizzard. They are slave drivers, they work you to death then when you are burnt, they show you the door (a lot of game companies are like this, Riot comes to mind). They pay people lower than the going rate and bank on their name, "Hey, you are working for Blizzard, you don't need to earn as much." They provide meals, snack, sodas, entertainment, but that is so you don't have to leave.

But what Blizzard does, it does well, it churns out some really polished games. I have been in the beta and alpha of many of their games (since original Starcraft) and I love their games. Unfortunately, I will not pay for their games anymore, and I have convinced others close to me to do the same. They at least lost 5 sales of Overwatch from things I have said and will lose more in their future games. I also block IPs to battle.net at home (my 2 kids, age 14/22, can't play) and places that I can control (lawfully of course). I won't make a dent in their bottom line, but at least I know I am not feeding them.

If you are pissed off, admit that you are done with them, move on. I am okay with admitting a used some form of what they call cheating (a macro is a macro no matter how small), but I don't like being told "pack up your sh*t and leave, we don't like the way you play our game."

What is interesting though is I didn't realize how much time I had sunk into this game until I actually went out this weekend with my family. ;) I think they are grateful I got banned. :P

Bah, the troll poster got deleted so a lot of the prior posts won't make any sense. I will post this anyway since I typed it. Wouldn't want to waste all those extra keyboard clicks... ;)

BTW, I admitted to using a macro. So yes, in their eyes I cheated. Do I feel bad that I cheated, not at all. I don't stream, so no loss of income.

I have a day job, clicking at a keyboard all day. I took one extra click off by doing a 2 button macro.

    • If I caused the already unstable leaderboard system to buckle under the weight of my macro, I am sorry.
    • If I endangered any of your lives or you feel cheated in any way, I am sorry.
    • If I caused any person at Blizzard grief or they lost their job, I am sorry.
    • If I an extra pink Unicorn died on my behalf or I caused an entire species to die out, I am sorry.
    • If any unwarranted packets flowed from my home network and caused Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma to a developer, I am sorry. :hehe:

K, so the last one may have crossed the line (sorry Kanai), but you get the gist.

And yet they sell the diablo steelseries mouse, licensed by blizzard, where you can do exactly that. Bind macros with the mouse software.

Blizzard doesn't sell the mouse, it's only licensed to use Diablo® in the name. And you don't have to use it to break the ToS, you know?
"Here is a great product to use with the game it is themed after. Blizzard got some good money for us to put their logo on it... but don't use all it's advertised functions or you may get banned from said game." :-)

Yeah, it isn't sold by Blizzard, but it is funny that you can get banned using a licensed product with functions that can get you banned. Again, not bitter, just found it funny. :D

Macros that automate more than 1 Keybutton are considered bots / aka automation software.

This has been told now already multiple times and many ppl got banned for using such macros.

That's why u have been banned. RoV and Vengeance together in 1 Macro is prohibitted

Yep, why I am completely okay with it (admittedly with slight disappointment). I broke the rules, time to find another game to unwind from work with.
I have to hand it to them though, they do stick to their guns.

It also happened to me. To be honest, in a farming build I had a thumb mouse macro that did a click for both Rain of Vengeance and Vengeance.

So yeah, probably against ToS, but seems a bit harsh that they don't even have a warning. I'm not hiding behind an excuse of never doing anything wrong.

I barely hit paragon 1010 and I sat behind my keyboard playing for every single one of those levels. The only thing I can think of that may have put me under a magnifying glass was that I was able to get into the top 100 for DH (but was pushed to about 105 when I got banned).

Not mad, just a bit disappointed. I made a quality of life change with a simple macro and without a warning I am out of the $100 or so I paid for both games because I got them at launch. I'm not strapped for cash, but it wouldn't be so painful if they at least said, "Yeah, we don't want you playing with others, so here is your money back, now kindly leave." It was more a , "We think you are cheating, so we are keeping your money, now GTFO!!"

I am a bit torn though, yes I admit, it was a bit of automation for a generic ToS, but since they aren't specific, if you are using anything other than a basic 2 button mouse and keyboard, that is grounds for ban.

Anyway, for this I am done buying Blizzard games. I am glad I didn't get Overwatch. The small amount of money I contribute isn't going to hurt the company, but at least I know I'm not helping them.
