I'm sorry, but you're an idiot if you think D3 in any way shape or form has a possibility to fail commercially, regardless of when it's released.
It's going to be a huge success money wise for Blizzard. D2 was their biggest seller in NA till WoW with 12 million copies sold or something along those lines.
I'm sorry, but you are an idiot if you think if anything is 100% for certain. Just because a particular famed franchise had commercial success in the past isn't an indication that it will repeat itself in the future. The times change, so do people.
PacMan and Tetris were some of the most popular and most played games back in the days, but it doesn't mean if you make a new PacMan or Tetris now they will still sell.
Seems like the delay has more to do with marketing strategy than actual developing needs.
The devs already confirmed that the core engine and system of the game is pretty much completed, ACT I is also mostly done, all they need now is to add in the rest of the contents. Sorry, but personally I don't think you need a full year just to program the remaining 3 or 4 acts.
If D3 is truly coming out in 2011, it will face a high possibility to fail commercially due to intense competition. Even with a famed name like Diablo it will be difficult to compete with big shot titles like SW: Old Republic, Blade and Soul, TERA, and various other high production MMORPG that are bound to come out around 2011 too. Sure, technically speaking D3 isn't an MMORPG, but it still faces the same competition nonetheless: especially with the fading popularity of the conventional isometric top-down style of hack & slash RPG.
I say the latest D3 should come out is final quarter of 2010. Any later and it may damage its potential player base.
I find it extremely ridiculous that one can only participate in the D3 official forums if they have a battle.net account, which requires a Blizz game CD key. This is like Blizzard saying that we only value the opinions of people who have bought our other products  or else your comments and views mean squat to us. Fantastic attitude towards your would-be customers, Blizzard.
The only Blizz games I have ever played in my life is D2 and D2 LOD, and those I have played a lot. But I stopped playing for a few years now, and seriously who still keeps CD key for a 9 years old game?
So my question is are there other ways to obtain a battle.net account? Or I actually have to buy a copy of a Blizz game just to get the CD key to register for an account.
Well Diablo II was a big hit and that only came out with 5 characters
True, but D2 originally came out in 2000, that's almost a decade ago. The quality and benchmark of RPGs have risen significantly since then, especially with Bioware continuing to churn out epic titles that redefine the genre (and with Dragon Age coming out in Nov). 5 cookie cutter classes are simply too linear and limiting for an RPG in this current era.

Flaws? what flaws? New graphics, new characters and skills, semi-destructible backgrounds, better skill management and usage...what flaws?
I like the graphics, but honestly speaking they ARE a bit too colorful and cartoonish for the Diablo franchise.
Like I have previously mentioned 5 classes are simply too few.
PVP and guild support are mentioned, but haven't been announced in details. Hope they will come out great.
And I have also heard rumors that D3 will only support max 4 players online, if this is true it will be thoroughly devastating
D3 is bringing out a lot of excitement, but as of yet it's not guranteed to achieve the same critical success as its predecessors. We still need more details and info.
Besides looking awestruck and obviously cool, Tyrael isn't actually that interesting of a character. Most of the times he seems like a prick ordering everyone around to do his errands.
I'm a D2 veteran, played D2 for years since I was 14 but quit quite a few years back after reaching 96 on my necro and high 80s on several other characters.
D3 was announced and I'm really looking forward to it, on the other hand I'm bitterly disappointed that my favorite class necro won't be coming back  The lame ass witch doctor can't even come close in comparison. This is the Diablo universe, let witch doctor stay in African tribal villages and WOW, it doesn't belong here.
Another terrible letdown is that there will only be 5 classes at release? Come on...this is the 2009/2010. I haven't seen any respectable RPG with high production value that only comes out with merely 5 classes since like........2003
I hope the brand new contents and the fun of playing a monk and will more than make up for these flaws.
And here's also hoping D3 will release by the first half of 2010.

Not me. I have moved at least 3 times across different continents in the past decade. I don't carry game packaging boxes across oceans.

I seriously hope this is false. I have seen the trailers for wizzard and monk and they are laughably ugly.
