mmmmhmmm I want to see a spooky swamp type place.
With swamp gas that burst in to flames, with quick sand, and tar pits...

Nov 11, 2009mad3nch1na posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIIPosted in: NewsQuote from "Gaia942" »Personally I see permanently losing experience and gold is a bad design. I'm ok with the idea of having some experience and gold being temporarily left at the place of death to be re-obtained in whole. But not having the ability to re-obtain 100% of what is lost will cause extreme aggravation and won't do the game any good.
I agree with this idea. If you die during a quest, then any exp lost is recovered after the completion of the quest. This will encourage players to play together and weather the storm even if things are not going smooth.
Or if you die in a dungeon, exp will be recovered after killing the boss. -

With the new physics engine a 15LB spinning spiked ball whirled around by a 7 foot tall 300 pound man knocking heads off of people could be quite amusing...

It would have to be ridiculously rare.
Perhaps 1/300,000 people have one.
When I see a person with it I would want to crap my pants, and be like OMFGGGGGG DUUUUUUDE HOW DID YOU GET THAT?????

Sapper is a combat engineer according to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapper
Perhaps it may be a target you DONT want to kill, killing it may have consequences far worse than letting it live. IE it performs some demonic rituals and if you kill it after the ritual is performed a HUGE demon pops out that's really really hard to kill, the demonic ritual eventualy drains the life of the sapper and will die on its own. This could provide interesting game play mechanics because it would limit the use of AOE if a player is getting swarmed, creating a sense of urgency and helplessness.

As far as the player experience goes, there is no difference between getting on a "boat" and walking through a way point, it all looked like the same loading screen to me.

For all I know, you might be required to walk from one act to the other, unless you've been there before and activated the waypoint.

I think it is a bit early for us to determine what the final sound will be like, since real itemization has not begun yet...
(I remember in a interview from the last blizzcon, that allot of the sound effects in the demo version of D3 is strait from D2.
I'm sure it will be fantastic though.

MWF has sold 13million copies.
Diablo3 buyers will be from: Diablo 2 over 4 million(as of 2001), WoW well over 15 million, and Starcraft which has over 11 million in sales. Now I'm not saying that every single person will buy Diablo 3 after playing one of these previous Blizzard, but this population will be a vast percentage of people that buy Diablo 3. Then you add in all the other people that are brand new to blizzard or Diablo, simply because its a great game, all the game reviewers will be giving it 11/10 and raving how good it is will also cause tons of people to buy it.
