And it's not even a matter of potency as i said before. C'mon, look at Wiz new set. Now look at everything we had from D1 and D2. Compere. People must be blind to not see the enormous difference in style.

So far I don't have many complaints about it. The helmet is a little funky, that's all. But, that's something that is judged better from the game play view, which is the way I think they should be revealing these armors.

So you know, it's not a green set. It's normal plate mail. At least that's what Scyber said in the reveal thread:

    Quote from ScyberDragon

For those of you who don't know, these sets that they are showing us are not sets like in Sigon's or Immortal King's. They are simply the reguar armor you get like leather or plate.

With that in mind, I think it's perfectly fine. But I'm not planning on playing a Wizard, so I don't care all that much. You'll probably see me make a fuss when they show something for the barbarian.

(and the SS isn't photoshoped by the way)

Which one? The one in the OP? Yeah, it is.

I think he meant that it's not artwork; it's (other than the Barbarian and UI) a real game. I think his comment was directed at kgydkgyd, who said that no PC could run that. That's why he brought up his PS3 running games that look twice as good as D3, including the game in that screenshot. Speaking on that, I don't think it's the fairest comparison to make. The PS3/360 are tailor made for games. A mid level PC will have more power, but it also has a bloated operating system. There's also a lot more low level coding done for PS3 games, and code and ideas are shared between development teams.

Anyway, I still think D3 could be knocked up a notch or two in visuals. Just a little more detail in certain things and I'd probably be content. The artisan's shop looks heavily detailed and great. The surrounding area... not so much. Needs a bit more polish.

Incorrect. God of War is a game like Castlevania, not the other way around

Uh, no. Just no. No, no, no. How could anyone be so wrong about something so obvious? That's not to say it's a bad thing that Castlevania is taking its new game mechanics from God of War. I think it's great. Just like God of War took a lot from Devil May Cry.

So let me get this straight..some of you guys want to see Diablo turn into that..into the look of another game, while we are/were ALL complaining that it was looking very WoWish..bit hypocritical, dontcha think?

I don't think it's hypocritical when the game is a better representation of Diablo's previous look than Diablo 3. If WoW looked like Diablo then no one would have a problem if Diablo 3 looked like WoW, right? Anyway...

I don't get where the whole comparison between WoW and D3 graphics comes from. I mean, I really don't see it. They're two completely different games, one isn't even in isometric view. You obviously can't compare the two by color scheme alone, let alone graphical capability.

If it were up to me, the debate of WoW's graphics compared to Diablo 3 would be bannable. It's a tired argument that detracts from real conversation on Diablo 3's graphics. I also think that most of the naysayers (I'm one of them, although I've never brought up WoW because I've never played it) dropped that shit a long time ago. I haven't heard it used in a while, yet it manages to make its way into every single topic on graphics. So, who's actually bringing it up most of the time? Well... just look at your own posts. Your entire post has almost nothing to do with any of the discussion in this thread. You say you don't get the whole comparison, yet you're the one bringing the comparison into this thread!

This obviously isn't a debate about whether the graphics are detailed enough.

    sigh...

posted a message on Imho I am worred about diablo 3.
    1. My link This is a link to the dark cultist. Copy and paste undead WoW. They could have been a bit more original on this. Yes doing things like this saves time but... it just cuts the originality of Diablo and its sequel #3 like a hot knife through butter. And let's be honest with each other, if they are going to do something as obvious as this WHO KNOWS how many more of these there could be in the game that were just copy and pasted?

I thought I was about to enter a thread where I'd agree with the OP, but then you criticized the Dark Cultists. The cultists are, in my opinion, the most diablo looking monsters in the game. Are you mad?

The stylized art style. I know its a hot topic and we all know it isn't going to change because it would basically be resetting everything they have done. That isn't the point though and I'm not asking them to change it I'm just dropping it into the melting pot of my overall concerns.

I don't like the art style either. Not much else to say about it now. Like you said, they can't exactly change it this far into the game.

When I first envisioned diablo 3 I envisioned something like this.
    My link

    That makes two of us.

Health orbs. Yes they feel very arcade like and everyone knows they could do a better job on it rather than putting floating red globes everywhere for health. We all know there can't be any more potion spamming because that just doesn't work but floating red balls that pop out of enemies? Come on, we all know they can do better than this.

I'm in the minority on health globes. I like them, and I prefer the original design.

60 level limit now. I think this speaks for itself. Nothing really wrong with it but it isn't original for diablo 3, it isn't a good idea in my opinion and it kind of ruins skill tree's based on the fact that you wont have the amount of points to play around with that you did in D2. Once you finish hell you should be level 60. I'm just wondering if there's going to be mounts at 40 now based on this unoriginality thumb print that I can't seem to watch out of my eyes for diablo 3. Just because something works in another game doesn't mean its the best solution and the best idea.

I agree with what Bashiok said about levels, mostly...

    7. The glowing aspects of the game that just look ugly and dumbs the game down. Take the original gameplay trailer as example. The skeletons have glowing shields, the entire area under the dungeon is glowing. There's virtually no realistic firelight radius at all. The glowing weapons on the barbarian that deal extra lightning/ice damage is way to excessive. It's just all too pretty for diablo 3. Just refer to this picture again.

I'm fine with the glowing shields. And, I REALLY like the excessive elemental effects on weapons. It's not too pretty for Diablo. Go back to Diablo 2 and throw on some paladin auras. They're pretty, aren't they? Shit, the first half of the first gameplay trailer is about the only thing I've liked so far.

Only 4 characters per game based on how intense the visuals are. Here's an idea... tone the visuals down? The combat doesn't have to be a giant glowing rainbow bomb unless they want it to be.

I'd go with 5 characters a game and call it good. It doesn't bother me since I'll probably play single player, but I can understand why this upsets you guys.

None-changing area's. Only dungeons are randomly changed. The outside world is static. I find this completely boring if the level cap will be 60 and if we will finish hell by level 60 I see a very boring game that will be a lot less repetitive than D2.

    Agree with Scyber on this.

The photo came from another diablo fansite. As others have said, it's a photoshop of the latest Castlevania game. It looks damn good too. The design is much more in tone with the Diablo series than Diablo III, at least in that photo.

Guys, all they are saying is that they are following the storyline design of D2. They arent cutting anything short. Imo, its a good design. They build up a hype, and in the end, you feel like youre closing in on it, but Im sure we are not gonna be left feeling like the end came too soon. Its just that you get to the last act and you feel like, oh yeah, Diablo, here I come!

Diablo 2 wasn't complete. The main reason Act IV is so short is because they wanted to release the game sooner, which they admit to in the interview. Maybe they genuinely believe this is the best thing for the game, but I don't agree. The best way to go about it is good story telling, not shortening the game length. Some games can definitely drag on too long but, in my opinion, Diablo 2 is not one of those games.

And btw they said that acts will be 2 times longer than D2, if I remember correctly.

I've never read that. They have always said its length is comparable to Diablo 2.

"Even the way the Acts increase in length and then scale down. We intentionally did that again because we thought, some of that was done to ship Diablo 2, but we thought it had a good feel to it to reduce the length of later acts so that you feel like you're accelerating towards the finale."

I can't believe this shit. I mean, I remember how good it felt when I reached Act IV only to being completely underwhelmed by its length. They're cutting length on what will probably be the most interesting areas of the game... again. A game of this length isn't that hard to develop and they have had a lot of time to work on it. Now they pull this? How uncreative is their team? Diablo 2 is not by any means a long game. To anyone who thinks otherwise, please go play Diablo 2 again, excluding the expansion. It makes a big difference when there's no Act V. /rant

If he really is 39 then the way he behaves for a 39 year old guy is pretty sad. And lol at him being 39 and still being a "hardcore" gamer and being so proud of it. When you are 39 you should have other priorities dude - job, wife, children, etc and playing games should be just a hobby and not something you are "hardcore" about. And, yeah, I don't think he's 39, because he behaves like a random 16 year old nerd.

You attack him because of his age, call him a virgin, and lecture him on what his priorities in life should be... Try not to get so pussy hurt over one guy's opinion. You've made yourself out to be a much bigger douche than he has, good job.

By the way, his post would fit better in this thread. I don't understand why he made a new topic for this.

posted a message on Crafting Through Artisans
I like most of this, but...

Dialogue box is a bit too gimicky. I liked the simpler designs of Diablo 1 and 2.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the dialog box. I like the older designs as well.

Not that I dislike it. But this adds nothing to me and the idea of having to salvage items constantly is a chore I do not want to go through.

I don't think you're required to craft items, so that's something...

The game looks worse, too. Its me or the game's graphics are getting worse? As in, they're not Diablo like at all? I got Diablo vibes in the old videos, but here, I got Torchlight vibes... which was a game with an absolutely horrible feeling. And even the very small combat sequence had unsatisfying sound (no kidding).

It's odd, isn't it? The artisan's shop looks great, especially the leveled up versions. But the buildings around it look terrible in comparison. They have that Torchlight look you're talking about. It just doesn't blend well at all. It's the same problem I have with most of the outdoor areas they've shown. The hand drawn look of the 2D sprites with the more realistic 3D looks weird. I think they could do a much better job on blending everything together.

someone made a thread "improve co-operation.." etc.

my idea is this: we can't force a person to stay in a group, BUT..what if you are x distance away from another teammate, then the monsters your teammate kills won't drop items for you.

I have always assumed it is that way already.

I don't care as long as the game won't require me to use a mercenary at higher levels. To the thing about tamed animals, I really hope they leave them out of the game. That seems really out of place in Diablo, in my opinion.

Not needed at all. Too much accessories can only ruin Diablo and not help it in any way, because after all Diablo is all about fast paced hacking and slashing of enemies and the cool thing is that you can indicate the level of enemies by how fast you slash them :D

    What he said.
