posted a message on Thinking of trying Hardcore
I can kind of understand hardcore, and I like how it can keep the economy stable. But for playing it I just don't think I can, people say it makes death mean something, but I don't play SC and TRY to die, I do everything I can to stay alive, dodge attacks, stay out of fire etc. granted some deaths are because i get cocky and stuff, but sometimes that adds to the fun of it, throwing yourself in a big group and say, I wonder if I can make it out of here.

You should be putting the slower weapon in the mainhand because FoT calculates his damages only by the mainhand dps/damage. It won't make a difference in the character screen but it will make a difference in REAL damage. This is explained by newti quite good. He has done shitloads of theorycrafting.
Do you have got a more precise source on that? Dunno who newti is. Sounds really weird that FoT would be based on mainhand dmg only.

IIRC they made 90% of attacks based off main hand damage, but rotate offhand speed. I think it was done so you. Could more reliably know what your damage would be. And it could be annoying for things like leap? Can't remember for sure, it was done mid/early beta

(btw ignore the deaths, was having trouble with fury gen)

There's no real lag or anything, just the message pops up and you go back to the start game/char select screen

Also, i got another response from a GM

since when? this morning?

I've had it since friday/Saturday

I can post more a SS when I get back home.

Basically there's no latency or anything, you can just start a fight or be half way through a champ pack (although for me it always waited until I had 5 stacks ><) you get no warning just a disconnect message.

I've been having disconnects playing the whirlwind/sprint build on my barb, got this as a response from my ticket:
Hello,

There is a bug report currently being investigated that some players are being disconnected while using Whirlwind on Barbarians. This is still being investigated for what could be casuing it on our side.
That said, you could test it on your side by not playing with Whirlwind for a while and seeing if that prevents your disconnects.

If you have any follow up questions or new questions please feel free to call back in or open a new support ticket at https://us.battle.net/support/en

Slow and steady wins the race I've heard.

Don't constantly kite him rapidly around the room, slowly back him through his clouds, so when he releases cloud#2, he's still in the same area he released cloud#1, therefore limiting how much space they actually take up.

You might wanna post this in the feedback or bug section of the official forums. It's an interesting feedback that I'm sure you're not the only one who would like to see changed.

And the game doesn't suck because of such a small oversight ;) com'on, things like that happen in the best families...

They banned me long ago for voicing concerns over the real-name part of Real ID, which they later admitted was stupid and abandoned.

Compared to Blizzard's forums, North Korea is a bastion of freedom of expression.

@ Bleu: Once I use the RMAH to make back the $60 I consider Blizzard to have stolen from me for this crap, I will indeed quit.

well, they didn't 'steal' anything, you willingly gave them your $60, and if you've spent more then 60 hours on this game i'd say you got your monies worth.

and yeah, using the RMAH is actually giving blizzard more money...so you're going to torture yourself to grind out $60 from the RMAH, potentially giving blizz even more money in the process? what are you even gaining? you could go work part time for 6 hours instead of the 15 hours you'll take farming or whatever.

If you're going defensive and you don't really have a lot of DPS, get the LoH and forget the Life Steal, as with low DPS/tank your return on life steal will be super small.

Thank you everyone who has posted responses to this it's been helpful.
Sorry that I haven't posted back, had to work out of town today.

Anyways! My budget is around 600 - 750 dollars.
Thank you all so much. I've learned that I need a better Graphics card, and my Board is outdated. As far as I know my RAM isn't an issue. I'm only using about 1.2 of it when I play D3. Perhaps having more would make it run smoother I'm not sure....

I would atleast get 4GB, RAM is super cheap (i think 16GB is <$100) but as long as your PSU is atleast 500-550 then your main upgrades would be a CPU/MOBO/GPU, quite easy with a $600 budget.

Edit: The best way for us to help you is to know all of what you have now, and what your budget looks like.

But the other thing is, depending on which CPU he gets, is the OC really needed? i've got the 3.4 GHz i7 and i havn't bothered to OC is, and i doubt that i would notice much improvement if i did. granted i have the H100 cooler (really is quite fantastic if you can afford it/fit it in your case) because i had money to blow, but my first desktop ran with just the stock cooler and i don't think it ever ran into issues either (i believe it was an i5).

I agree with 550 power supply, a newer socket type MOBO, 8 GB of ram, the SSD isn't needed really, they're sweet to have but meh. i was lucky enough to get my HDD when the prices were dirt cheap, after the flooding the prices went up but it's still not hard to find a 1TB for a good deal.

I would say go for the 7950 for a GPU (obviously unless he has major budget constraints) it will last you a good while, and for now you can run games maxed out if you want. Longevity is the way to go imho.

I'm not sure what case you have now, and if you'd be looking to upgrade the case or not, but there are some decent mid/full tower cases for <$100

posted a message on Im i the only one that thinks d3 is amazing?
I love this game, as someone said it's not perfect, but it's a damn good game. other then FPS/MMOs and Skyrim i don't think i've ever put 200+ hours into one game, and still going strong.

Honestly, reading the official forums makes me lose faith in humanity, and want to smack a few people upside the head.

Quote from oMgArka

Diablo 3 is great but if i have to compare my enjoyment was better when i played diablo 2. I think the RMAH is killing the communication between players and the trade aspect which was one of the best part from d2 for me. The random attributes system is also something they should pay attention (quiver with intel, wand with strengh, crap legendaries, etc..).

Do people not remember that this was in D2 as well? i remember getting str wands and shit in D2 as well, although i guess all stats were used by everyone a bit more in D2 so it wasn't as big of a deal, but you still found some useless stuff (increased light radius anyone?)

posted a message on Life per spirit spent vs LoH..anyone tested?
Quote from Beace

I've played around a bit with LPSS, and I just don't find it effective, not with the low values found on gear. Spirit generation isn't high enough even while dual wielding and using FoT. Maybe it was different before the haste nerf in 1.03.

A basic amount of LoH can easily give you back 2-3k health per second (with FoT - Thunderclap). LPSS simply can't match that.

True it can't match it in a 1v1 tank/spank fight, but if you think about it and you end up having a decent dodge %, how much LoH could be wasted theoretically, whereas with LPSS you can effectively control the heals and give yourself burst healing when needed. Also, LoH doesn't help when you're kiting, whereas with LPSS if you have some spirit you can drop yourself a quick burst heal almost equal to a potion.

It's an interesting idea and could potentially be quite viable if you gear/spec for it.
