I chose this build, which I call my Magic Find build. It focuses on increasing movement speed (i.e. through Frenzy) as well as ignoring damage, while also utilizing powerful damage abilities like charge and seismic slam.

    It is super effective!

The screenshots are from the D3 Emulator that has been followed by several of you here.

The latest version allows you to use the waypoint system to access most of the zones in Act 1.

It is easily doable by any of you here if you want to check it out for yourself. Exciting at first, but nothing special once you walk through it all.

I was looking at the D3 Beta Key Sweepstakes and noticed that there are around 1.4 million likes on its Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Diablo?sk=app_6009294086

That number seemed particularly high to me and got me thinking.

Does anyone think that D3 will break any gaming sales records?

Anyone want to make any predictions on how many copies will be sold in the first day/week/month?

I think a 100k or so will be sold in the first week(sold, rather they can play it right after purchase, is another thing all together), so I don't think D3 will break any reccords.

If by chance they release a console version at the same time, it could be a hell of a lot more then that, but I still don't think the numbers would be record breaking(although the numbers would be high up there).

    100k in the first week?

SC2 sold 2 million on the first day. I think you're lowballing your number there.

It was also said that the 1000 blizzcon invites already went out as well. So we know there's at least 1000+ opt ins.
where was this said. Last thread we had on it, they have not gone out... id love to know for sure.

Page 2 of the thread I linked in the OP.

Seems like no one ever commented on the 1,000 keys... urgh. I apologize.

The 1,000 Diablo III keys promised to attendees of BlizzCon 2010 were indeed distributed some weeks ago during one of the waves, and it was through the normal 'license added to account' process (no actual keys were distributed).

Yes, they have gone out already.

uh... ok? why is that an interesting statement to make.

I'm glad you asked. I consider it surprising for 2 reasons.

    1) Up until now, a small amount of people have claimed on the forums that they got in through Opt-In, leading the community as a whole to believe that Wave 1 was a insignificant amount.

    2) This statement implies the opposite, in that Wave 1 was actually so large that it was bigger than Blizzcon, F&F, Media, and Contests combined. Not more than one of those. All of them put together are still not as large as Wave 1.

It's just a statement against the general perception that the community had, or at least from what I've read. I don't think saying that it is an interesting statement as a result is a far-fetched opinion but is a suitable prompt for discussion.

We have invited more "general public" people from opt-ins than all other sources combined.

    Interesting statement to make.

    Thoughts?

posted a message on Is Blizzard getting it wrong with the Diablo III beta test?
    Quote from eph

    Exactly how I feel.

I've been waiting 10 years to get my hands on this game and to have it dangled in my face like a piece of meat makes me feel disgusted. And with someone like Bashiok at the helm of communication doesn't make the lack of access or information any easier to deal. His constant "we're better than you" attitude just makes me feel like punching someone in the face.

As like you have mentioned, I will still buy the game. No longer out of pure anticipation, but rather out of a "I should still at least try it out", kinda thing. Much like I've done with the last COD Black-Ops release. And unless they blow my socks off immediately after release, I don't see my self playing the game for very long.

Your post is dripping with entitlement. For starters, I've never felt that Bashiok's post are ones of smugness or arrogance. He keeps it light, and I always see it as him trying to build camaraderie with the posters. You need to realize that the meanings of some things are entirely based on how you read it.

Next, I don't understand your reaction to not being able to play the beta. Let me ask you this. If there was a million users in beta, and you didn't get in, would you still react with the same disgusted feeling? The problem is that you feel as if you deserve a spot, or at least that Blizzard is doing some great punitive disservice to their fans. It's their beta. They can put in however many users they want, whether its 50 or 500. It is an incorrect notion to believe that the players have the control or are owed anything as Blizzard tries to develop the game that they have invested money and resources into for the last several years. Honestly, it is this entitlement that makes these arguments irritating to read and redundant to see on the forums. I am not of course attacking the main idea of the thread, as I think it's fair to evaluate Blizzard's timing.

The number of public games on a given quest is NOT a reference point of any kind.

Actually, I'd be willing to bet it's actually a pretty decent reference. The problem is, we have no idea to judge what the reference is. If Blizzard told us that when 25 people are in public games 500 people are in private games and when 100 people are in public games, 1800 people are in private games, we'd have numbers we can work with. But you can't solve the equation X = Y * Z without having some other information. (Yes, I know technically that equation is already "solved" as its in its simplest form, shut up)

This is why the Facebook invites will be so helpful. We'll have an exact number of invites (assuming no Opt-In) and we'll be able to see how much the public pop increases by.

Your post sounds like a whole lot of speculation to me, but I like where your heads at. Any way of verifying the amount of private games?

    Quote from "33415594705" »
with a set of keys going out this next Monday/Tuesday for the Facebook Sweepstakes, consider this. If just those invites go out (no Opt-in), we can see how much the public game pop changes, thus allowing us to calculate a very generic ratio of how many players are playing privately, which then leads us to calculating the total beta population.

While these calculations must be taken at face value, it may be helpful down the road to be able to look back and formulate educated guesses as to how many players were in at any given time.

    Just something to think about.

    Hey Fans,
I just won the random drawing at D3DB for testing out their character planner! The key is already activated, so don't bother bidding on it. However, I would love to help the community somehow, seeing as the community is the reason I got my key in the first place.

Since all of my characters will be brand new, fresh, and without twinkage, it will be easy for me to answer any and all questions regarding ability scaling from levels 1-13. In addition, I will try any skill builds anyone wants to see, answer any questions about a certain combination of skills, and answer anything else you can think of that DiabloFans/Force are not already working on.

Unfortunately, my computer can't really handle 1080p Diablo III alongside Fraps, so while I may be able to push out a few short videos for certain skill builds for you guys, I won't be able to do playthroughs. But you've seen enough of those anyway.

Also, I was an avid MFer in Diablo 2, so I will be searching high and low for anything worth reporting loot-wise.

Hope to see many more of you in the Beta soon, and all of you at release!

You know what's funny is I was in a HoN game with this guy and I mentioned D3, and he said that he had just gotten in through the character database contest. I laughed thinking it was a troll, saying, "Man I can't believe you were one of the 5 who got the key out of thousands and you just so happen to be in my HoN game." He replied with, "I know, I can't believe it either."

Still thought he was a troll. Now I see that his HoN name and Dfans name are the same. Doh.

posted a message on D3 coming to consoles?
The real question would be this:

Would the console game require the same "always connected to the internet" model? If not, would a single player then be offered?

    Something interesting to think about.

posted a message on Graphic Card List
I notice that my graphics card is not mentioned. It comes with the Dell XPS 17 that I purchased in January. It's a 2000 dollar laptop. Can it run Diablo on its highest settings?

NVIDIA GeForce GT 445M 3GB graphics with Optimus

Is the name of the card. Unfortunately due to work I've been unable to test it out on a game, so I don't know how well it runs.

    Any ideas anyone?
