posted a message on Diablo Patch 2.5 - A wishlist

It was suggested again recently, but all I want to see is a fast way to switch gear and builds. It is so tedious to swap and it's more fun to not feel stuck with a tired build or the chore of changing it. I don't mind the initial putting together of a build, but not being able to quickly switch between them kills the fun. Have a t10 speed farm but then buddy wants to do GR, sure, give me ten minutes to swap all my gear, skills, gems, passives.... That's not fun and I see it as a huge problem.

I'm sorry, when did Diablo 3 become an MMO with content updates and extensions, on a 3-4 month basis? Where is the subscription fee you pay for such developments? Not to mention, even if this WAS an MMO (which seems to be the implication by many with the whole "there is no endgame" or "endgame is dead"), you'd be still waiting at LEAST 2 more months for any new content.

Content updates became expected when the game was released UNFINISHED. Furthermore, the best selling PC game in history is expected to be supported extensively simply based off of sales. At $60 per coppy, that's more than a quarter billion dollars. I think they can afford some additional content and better support.

The idea that players have no right to expect the game to be updated because they don't pay a subscription is insulting. I have an extensive collection of Steam games, most of them single player, and they ALL give updates to the content during the first six months. I don't pay a subscription for ANY of them. People with your opinion probably also support same day DLC.

Your comment implies that Blizzard doesn't owe the community anything. I beg to differ. If you release a buggy, lag filled, itemization fail, incomplete game, you owe your customers an update. If you've been following the game, you know that they have left out dozens of features that were previewed during development. This has nothing to do with being an MMO or not. Single player games get updated all the time for free, and many times with free additional content.

This letter, that glosses over MANY serious issues, is a bare minimum for communication. Other companies, like ArenaNet, offer much better developer insight and communication and do so without a subscription. Blizzard is an industry leader, that's why it is SO frustrating to see them take this direction of profit over quality and lack of communication.

I have enjoyed the game, but am taking a break until 1.0.4. I tried to play last night for a run through act 3. Lag caused several deaths, ran into broken mortar mobs that launched mortars within melee range and were landing mortars right at their feet, and finally disconnected right before azmodan after clearing the rest of act 3. I have a top tier internet connection and don't ever have lag problems in other games. Maybe this is acceptable to some, but in my mind, the game is pretty broken, and I expect a lot more.

$2.50 per mil for gold on RMAH when it is as low as $1 per mil on third party goes 100% against the design philosophy. They said it was so people wouldn't use third party, but their arbitrary restrictions make it so OF COURSE people will use third party. So stupid it's silly.

If blizzard does this often enough... it won't be that bad. They just need to ban gold sellers before they hit $60 earned back. Even if they are able to sell enough to earn $55... eventually it will become unprofitable when they keep getting banned.

I was under the impression that many of the botters used compromised accounts...meaning they don't repurchase the game, they just steal more accounts.

If people were not idiots and got an authenticator for their accounts, no accounts would have been compromised. The mobile one is even for free.

Yet there are people out there crying they don't need an authenticator while they click any executable bullsh1t they just downloaded from a fishy porn site and what more, a few days later they are genuinely surprised when their account gets hacked and blame Blizzard for doing lousy job keeping their accounts safe.

I don't want to sound mean, but some people almost deserve getting hacked. Hopefully they're gonna learn a lesson. Hopefully.

Better to lose a battle.net account now, than a bank account later. Password protection and management should be tought in high schools these days.

    yesterday:

No, no, no... far, far less than 1%

    today:

1.9% of characters have unlocked Inferno difficulty

    WTF!!

Furthermore, it's a percentage of characters and not players. Since they also said that players have 3 characters on average, this means closer to 6% have reached inferno, and they probably wrote this before the weekend.

I thought we were going to be able to put sockets in items that didn't have them already. Is this going to be possible, and if so, when and through which artisan?

posted a message on Anyone else trust Blizzard?
    Quote from ShermenZ

And they don't think they can do, they just do. They're saying that they (the game developers) know better then us (the gamers) what's good for us. And I think they're right. I'm sure we all consider ourselfs pro gamers, but I'm humble, I can't create games, so I put my trust in those who can, and proved them selfs.

Companies that have the attitude that they know better than their customers are doomed to fail. Can you imagine ordering a sandwich with no tomatoes and the chef says he know better than you that tomatoes make the sandwich good? That is not a successful business model. I don't think Blizzard is taking this attitude, and I sure hope they don't.

I trust that Blizzard has enough talented employees to make great games. I just hope that the buisiness side doesn't negatively affect development. i.e. developing so that ANYONE can play the game, when the truth is that anyone could have played it before and they made it look dumbed down to the diehard fans. Some of the decisions like having elective mode in the gameplay options instead of default are just stupid and do not add anything to the fun factor and are obviously designed because of a theory that the game needs to be more widely accessible to be widely adopted (basically make it super easy to sell a ton of copies).

I don't think any of these decisions will break D3 and they have reversed some of them as evidenced by increasing the starting difficulty in patch 15. I'm super excited after having played the beta a ton and am very confident D3 will be awesome. I hope devolopment teams, in all games, focus on what's fun and not worry about profits. If you make a great game, it will sell a ton (at least if you have Blizzard brand and marketing abilities). Don't jepordize that brand to try to squeeze out some extra bucks. Please continue to make great games for GAMERS and let Zynga and other F2P games attract new gamers.

Also, include voice over IP in future titles. I think it's silly that you can voice chat with people in your group on xbox (for the past 7 years), but not in Diablo. Do I trust Blizzard? Currently, but I will continue to keep an eye on their development. I do feel that they could have done a MUCH better job developing an overall community feel using Battle.net and this has been a missed opportunity. We will see what the future brings. See you in Diablo 3!

    Quote from Cyberwaste

If anything the beta is just a cross-section of the people who will be playing the game. Blizzard would expect a certain number of them to not report anything or do any focussed testing of systems.

No doubt they put a lot of people in the beta just to test server load. In this case you took a screenshot of a server loaded with shit. Sadly every online environment has those kinds spewing memes and talking like idiots.

When you're online just /ignore them and move on with your life.

Houston, we have a problem. There is no ignore, mute, squelch, or any other sort of chat controls. This better be added, but it doesn't look promising.

I just think to myself, these people are presumably sending in bug reports/posting on forums about the game. It's like asking a 15 year old to analyze a CT scan.

Yea, it's so hard to copy that debug.txt file. Damn, I need to learn rocket science to copy and paste.

posted a message on Finally got to try beta
The beta takes longer than 2 hours to complete on first run due to starting with no gear. It goes faster in subsequent play throughs. The beta also gets better as you gain access to additional skills. If you want to get the complete experience go watch the opening trailer and black soulstone in HD. A large part of the wonderful experience of Diablo II was the beautiful cut scenes and compelling storyline. I can't wait to play the full verson with all my friends.

posted a message on Closed Beta Begins
Grats on getting beta access! I'm a little disappointed that we have to hear it from the press before Blizzard makes a statement. I think they should do a better job with providing their fans with information.

"When closed beta begins there will be press releases, blog posts, twitter tweets, ticker tape parades, 30's style boxing, confetti manufacturing and expending, spit takes, coffee manufacturing and consuming, crying, handball matches (no waterfalls), news ports AND re-ports"

Actually, there hasn't been even a peep. Good luck to everyone with getting an invite. I'm pretty sure they said invites will come in waves, so keep your fingers crossed!
