So all weapon effects transfer to spells ? Gems, affixes etc. ? If that is the case I'm using amethyst for life steal and disintegrate line of spells to give a lot of health back to me. Also emeralds for critical hits. If two handed sword is the way to go they should have a lot of sockets till I find some great rare wand with a lot of sockets.

Ya paralysis is kinda bad, might just go arcane dynamo and a signature with volatility and hope the damage is good enough, never heard of that speed increasing with the weapon, so I should get the slowest high damage weapon possible? Some kind of two handed sword ?

and maybe go force weapon instead and no paralysis, accomplishes a similar thing, keeps them away... and with PoTS firing, as well as disintegrate with chaos nexus (until I get volatility) it might not be too bad.

Anti did you include base regen which I think is 10 ap a second, so +2 from Astral + 2 from Arcanot + 3 from PoTS + 10 from natural ap regen then +2 from entropy (going average here) and hehe +1 from templar skill, all of this to regen would mean +20 regen a second for all intents and purposes... (well PoTS isn't regen but you get the idea)

Any of that ap on crit stuff would help too....

toying with idea of energy armor absorption especially now with the ap on crit you told mentioned and because of the increased armor from it, with all this stuff your energy armor will stay up while firing,

Ya the chance of electrify happening might not be large, but seeing as how both spells pierce that will be a lot of chances of course the individual chance doesn't go up per hit but if your orb is going through 10 monsters etc it would seem good.. I am still going with quantum carnage attack pattern :) firing two celestial orbs then following with disintegrate, that will be many many chances for electrify......it was never supposed to save me that's what diamond skin is for ;)

Also thinking of removing arcanot and using ap on crit gear for those 2 ap points with blizzard to cause more stuns, more chances to critical: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#icSXlT!XVU!bcaacZ

If you've seen the affixes post then you no doubt have noticed all the wizard gear, my favorite will be entropy. Is it too powerful ? One entropy item with enough regen and you cast disintegrate using only 1 ap a second.

Also looking at Fleet boots with Scramble storm armor to run around zapping people with disintegrate in arena especially against someone using hydra ;)

and all the critical hit/damage stuff for use with critical mass (which should easily help more than evocation.except if your using archon where evo would take off 20 seconds.

If magic weapon really does transfer effect this could be useful against people...

anyone know if tempflux and stun will stack or do you think chances are so remote that both will hit it'll just naturally be either or... ?

RoF and Disintegrate should work for arcane dynamo that is why I have an alternate build for it
    http://us.battle.net...gYXT!XTg!abYaaZ

Compared to the other spells that can be targeted hydra stinks, it is an add on for being annoying, but meteor in place of hydra would make a bigger difference than running around waiting for it to fire at everything. As long as hydra is one of your main attacks every other wizard will have a 99% chance of being better than you. 1 Hydra at a time... the spell is either broken or designed to be a sidekick :)

Even death blossom wizard would be better, Arcane dynamo with that should be around 1175 percent weapon damage? put on magic weapon with blood magic and you'll never have to stop:

How many numbers do you want FoZ ? Change out hydra with any one of these spells and you will do more damage although I have my own favorites:

    Ray Of Frost
    Volatility
    Arcane Orb
    Meteor
Blizzard (though it's damage is over too many seconds)

Other reason to chose these over Hydra, you can Target them !

It isn't that hard ! Venaliter that is a nice build with volatility however I think shatter will be better so that you get two types of explosions when killing monsters in packs.I have two favorites so far, the chain arcane novas...

    http://us.battle.net...jgXT!gaX!baYYZZ
Strength 3 ap a second to cast volatility, (if your not in prism, if you are, you gain 4 ap a second while casting for those 6 seconds.) going to use Templar with ap regen skill, and assuming you regen base of 10 ap a second you'll gain 5 ap a second while doing a ton of damage shatter and volatility should make killing packs of monsters easy, 2 defense sills, and blur should make you tough, and critical mass will make it so you can cast more often.

With celestial orb volatility, if you meet a tough enemy you can take them down fast, you fire two orbs that pass through all targets (basically it is like disintegrate) and after you fire the second orb you do volatility/intensify ( so it is like the target is getting hit by 3 disintegrates at the same time) I nickname it, the Star Trek attack, because it reminds me of the enterprise firing torpedos and phasers :)
here is that build: lets call it, quantum carnage:

    http://us.battle.net...XSjT!XfU!bcZZYZ

If magic weapon does transfer effect, knock them back and slow them... these spells have range and piercing power...slow and push them back from you while you finish them off. Only chaos nexus could be better for facing many enemies at once (so you push away/slow more of them) and save your diamond skin (of whatever type, from going down). This a complete attack plan, every single spell is linked to benefit or use the benefit of another spell...

You do less than half the damage of any other wizard, I don't get how your going to kill and live in inferno with one hydra at a time being your main power spell ? (while trying to get surrounded by enemies for nova).

Hahaha I stated in a post a long long time ago that I thought simulacrum would be the best use since it would have 100% of your health. Mirror images is still something I would throw in the trash... you notice how many times we are seeing disintegrate or some version of it... it is everywhere :)

Ya I was going to say the same thing about mirror images not exactly being team centric, I think a case can be made though a little, if they are going after the images they aren't going after your teammates, but simulacrum would give two really stable images though to take more fire... still though it borders on team centric in my opinion... I think slow time will get you more invites the 20% damage one and just slow time in general... whether perpetuity, or miasma... (my two favorites.) Miasma with evocation could get the most use out of against monsters and running around and for teammates as well, but they both seem really the same they both just extend the time the effect lasts, one works on the front end and one works on the back.

After watching this video that is linked somewhere on this forum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0o9kgd6S0lU

I realized that I might not use death blossom at all seeing as how I can't target it, so I'm going for the old standby:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#icgXjT!Xbg!bcYZYZ

Everything that he mentioned is here, two defenses, one self centric one team centric, direct damage, not guess work...

Attack plan, volatility until I find a monster that needs to die fast, then firing 2 orbs and chasing them with volatility, they are celestial so it will be like firing 3 disintegrates at once.... with arcanot, PoTS and astral presence it will be 24/7 prism, volatility will only use 3 ap a second if natural regen is 10 a second. Playing around with idea of prism added too... , if it doesn't work out I'll do crystal shell, but with prism I would gain ap while casting volatility and every celestial orb would cost hardly anything. Using critical mass and evocation I would cast ST and a diamond skin a lot...

I will take the time to slay this beast :)

They are all right, this build is bad man, you have virtually no chance at killing a ranged attacker, 1 hydra can be cast at a time, Arcane destruction means you have one 450% damage every 120 seconds :) I would say Improved Archon at best. It is like he took everything that could be situational and put it all into one place... Absorption with energy armor isn't too bad but it has no support other than power hungry, Prodigy so that you get ap back when firing, or arcanot or astral presence would all be good additions to it since your enegry is a your shield....

Your playing checkers at a chess tournament man, lots of power/strategic moves but they don't link together and no real end game...
in fact, the end game, would be your end because you probably wouldn't kill much outside of archon form :)

    http://us.battle.net...kmOX!cXT!YZbbbY

Four spells that you used are there, damage higher, meteor shower with arcane dynamo could give monster damage per meteor (if AD is calculated per meteor) somewhere around 980% total weapon damage from all 7. Which would make you a monster on the battlefield :) Defense good and energy armor will be fueled the entire time. RoF with AD should be 490 % weapon damage....

I kept it in because you had it in your build, but I'm of the belief that a build with Archon, should be built for archon.... like this where every spell releases explosions when something dies and could easily farm critical mass to get archon and in this case enduring skin up very very often...

Teleporting into the middle of the monsters on higher difficulty as a wizard will increase the chance to die dramatically....

Archon does have the highest cooldown possible, the skills may be great but a rune that gives you an explosion at the beginning can't possibly do as much damage as the one that gives 25% more damage to every spell cast...

I'll bet that at higher difficulties neither one of these will be frequently used or depended on strategies...

As far as I know Death Blossom is a channeled spell, just like Volatility, which is why a lot of my builds have both of them with arcane dynamo (sometimes) and why I even mention it with AD in the same post. You get AD, hold down DB and keep holding it down :) of course, before pressing it, Diamond skin might not be a bad idea if there are monsters around ya....

Why bother having arcane destruction on Archon, archon has the highest cooldown of all the spells you have, volatility alone would give you a 35% chance to do 395% weapon damage every time you kill something.... without surrounding yourself with a bunch of monsters, that might beat the stuffing out of you before you get to teleport back out... Improved Archon seems like a better one, you get 25% more damage (so it is as good as glass cannon and familiar with damage combined, and why not do those too )

    http://us.battle.net...XjOZ!XYc!bcaabZ

I also think if your actually going to use energy shield, penetrating blast with prodigy should give you more ap a shot, maybe, if you get 4 points every time you deal damage with it and it pierces at least twice then you would get 12 points of ap a shot, if it pierces more, even better... it might not work like that, but if it does it could be useful for maintaining energy armor depends on if there needs to be a second or two between damage done.

It is nice, don't get me wrong, but seeing as how I'm bored, and just got off work after 17 hours :( I gotta make some changes and propose an alternate path in before i fall asleep :) so don't be surprised if some sentences don't make sense ! Zzzzzz

Arcanot with Astral Presence and PoTS will totally destroy the need for prism.... because those 3 will reduce your ap use of DB by 7.... so in mathematical lingo :) you can cross out Prism. by adding arcanot and Astral Presence, you could keep Prism if you wanted, but there would be no reason not to do Crystal shell or enduring skin (without evocation passive), you'll up your defense, get to where you can cast CS and Slow Time all constantly even without critical mass.

Second Arcane dynamo adds 75% to a spell's damage, if you cast DB with that, it would be way more damaging.... and if your really bent on using magic missile, you could have AD up and ready all the time.....

    http://us.battle.net...gXTj!bTX!cZYaZY

With a base regen of 10 ap a second, and Arcanot Astral Presence PoTS or: PoTSArcaAP :) you would lose 3 ap a second, whenever you cast DB for however long you want to cast it, not limiting your self to the shackles of Prism..... Free your mind ! :)

If you want some real overkill, get that templar with 1 pt ap regen skill... put it down to 2 ap a second, with 120 ap at least, you could do it for a full minute of 670% weapon damage, plus 75% of that damage added, and clear out the whole room....

So , PoTSArcaAP = Prism ap benefit, (24/7) Sounds good doesn't it, Yeeeeeeees Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Zzzzzz

Going arcanot and astral presence when you have skills that gulp ap probably isn't going to work too well... best save it for the channeled spells. If I were you I would get power hungry instead of astral presence and prodigy instead of galvanizing ward so that you have two ways to get ap by the cast instead of by the second.

    http://us.battle.net...PXjO!ecZ!YaaZYb

Looks like meteor is about the only worthwhile use of conflagration..... because hydra's damage: weak !
You might as well just focus on getting ap to cast meteor left and right, if it stacks with prodigy attunement seems like a far better choice.
