No this is not incompetence.
This is an example of something not working the way they expected and they acted accordingly. You have to remember for the couple of hundred loud voices on a forum, there are many thousand of silent onres playing the Beta. That data is going back to good ol'Blizzard HQ and are more than likely being compared against targets and benchmarks. The targets and benchmarks will not only be about bugs but also about timeframes (eg: time spent in towns, time to Lvl up, etc.,.) and general ease of use. (other stuff is there I'm sure but I won't speculate further).
This is another way of making the game playable for a wider audience. Like it or not, the people ultimately have a business to run. Like it or not, for every die hard fan boy (like us) there are going to be hundreds of other people who will still buy the game whenever it comes out.
To call the changes incompetent on their part is simply wrong. -
Jan 17, 2012zaboca posted a message on 10 Character Limit, Runed Way of the Hundred Fists, Poll, Screenshotsi dunno, even with respec it seems weird. like if you're paying someone for a car but they're telling you that every month you'll have to rent the tyres from them. (maybe not the best analogy). anyways, there'll be a way around it, probably called character removal or sacrificing. it could work you know, like everytime you create a character and press that little button beneath "Insert" on the keyboard.Posted in: News
on a side note, is D3 one game dvd one account? (my mind is really feeling blank at the moment....hmmm that means i would have forgotten all of the stupid people I met today :D) -

You know, I don't think it will really matter what Jay Wilson has to report, people will still berate him for whatever reasons they can contrive. If he says they have made large sweeping changes, they'd be angry. If he explains in minute detail all of the fine tuning that they're doing, they'd be angry. If he decided to tell us nothing at all, they'd be angry. Some people just enjoys being angry at life, and gleen some form of pleasure out of hating things for no better reason that just to nitpick and hate.
I don't understand why some people would be thick enough to make comments like: 'Blizzard is intentionally holding back the finished game to spite me personally.' Why exactly would a company intentionally delay a finished product that would make them millions? Yes, it sounds that stupid when you actually think about it.
word.... another thing people are forgetting is simply that Blizzard is no longer the "small" company that we knew. They have oodles of cash from WoW and are part of a much bigger company group. For all we know, the game is finished but someone further up the pecking order is asking them to hold off a bit to make a strategic play for the bigger company. Face it, that's the relaity of the business world out there. Only when the article comes out then (hopefully) we'll get some clarification -
Jan 12, 2012zaboca posted a message on Development Article Soon, What's NOT Delaying the Game, Zarhym on "The Big Meeting"I think in the end the fan out there does feel like something is owed to him/her. Blizzard makes great games and that draws people in and people invest their time and money in them. They don't consciously see themselves as mere customers or fans, neither do they see themselves as comsumers. I don't want to say family because that's weird (imho).Posted in: News
It's that investment in time (we're talking over 15 years) by many of these people that are making people feel hurt. For people, their is money and that's what is touching nerves. I'll admit that every now and then I'll get pi$$ed off at the delays too but Blizzard is Blizzard. Another thing driving this is fear, probably the fear of an indefinite delay or even cancellation but probably the fear of the game simply failing to meet their personal standards. Think about it like this - if your friends kept on telling you for years and years about a certain sports car, it'll wet your appetite. You'll want it, it becomes a symbol even a goal. then when you buy it you discover that the car drives like a donkey cart and you'll be hurt. You won't know why you're hurt but you'll feel it.
Another thing I've noticed is that alot of people are acting like addicts, blaming the dealer when there's no crack to smoke but failing to see that they have the issue happening. Well, maybe that analogy is a bit harsh but there are similar behavioural patterns.
Anyways, time to change the flat tire in my donkey cart -
Jan 11, 2012zaboca posted a message on No Release Date Yet, Beta Key Contest Round 3, More On Consoles, Explosive Blast Runedand really, what's the deal with Korea? can't they make up their minds? (yes, the reason for the delay in release date for D3 has to be them, it's the only logical explanation that is left!) so (being sarcastic here) if N. Korea attacks the South and they go to war, will the game be delayed for that? are they waiting for the S. Korea exams to finish or something so more people would play? just rate the game with the equivalent of what the ERSB has and you'll be good to go! it's not rocket science! why? why? why????Posted in: News
