Not entirelly sure why you think its needed to tell everyone that you got a refund?

Some may call this fanboi-ism, so say what you will. The fact that you gave the developers your money and played their game for 65 hours, only to decide you didn't like it and wanted a refund in the first place is flat out retarded. You basically pirated their game, you played it as much as you wanted to then threw it away and got all your money back - if thats not the closest thing to piracy I don't know what is.

There is also currently no loot management in place in Diablo III. If you were player two and you wanted that legendary bow, you would need to talk with that player one and hope that they are willing to trade it to you for either a price or even for free if you are lucky : )

But say Player 1 is more advanced and wealthy than Player 2 and has no need to even bother picking up the "legendary bow."
Unless P1 spoke up out of the goodness of his heart, P2 would never even know about the "legendary bow" that dropped.
P1 doesn't need the item, and doesn't care if P2 needs it (let's face it, not everyone will care), so the item goes to waste and disappears into the void of forgotten items with my old nerf guns and batman action figures.

Could there be some sort of in-game message that is displayed for everyone in the chat pane when Legendary/Uniques and Set Items drop:
"Player 1 has uncovered a Legendary Bow."

I'm no game designer, and I trust the D3 dev team, but I think that this would encourage player interaction and cooperation.
It also would wipe away the constant feeling that that shiny new item that you really need right now just dropped for someone else, but you'll never know.

I think that if you include a feature like that, there would be NO downside to the new loot system. Anyone else feel strongly about this?

I think if I ever actually grouped with unknown people/strangers, I would rather them not know that a legendary item dropped for me because then you will have people that fully expect you to hand them the item simply because, "I can use it, it has stats I use - give it to me" - Of course i won't be playing with anyone but friends, but don't underestimate peoples greed even if it does drop for you on -your- loot table and not theirs. If I choose to share that I got the item, sure - otherwise, no.

I reallly want this game, but i'm fully expecting this "Surprise" to be more hype added to the already massively over-hyped, hype of the non-release date hype. Etc

I don't know about anyone else, but all of Blizzards repeated hype attempts are getting a little irritating/annoying at this point. It's not like they're actually going to release anything we all want to know (Aka, Release Date), they never do. The quote "little something fun" is probably just another contest or wallpaper.

    Another random idea...

"G" in-game throws down your banner at your cursor location. Instead of the Altar, they could just make the banner a mobile respec station when you right click on it, change your skills out and then after a 5-10 second cast time (To prevent in combat changes and also similiar to Stone of Recall), it'll complete the skill changes and you're on your way.

With that, you could respec on the go anywhere you like so long as you're out of combat.

Or they could just make it so you choose your skills in the skill pane, than have to hit an additional button such has "Change", it'll do the 10 second cast time and again, you're on your way.

Either way, both options eliminate the porting back to town, though I don't really mind the current Altar anyways, it's a moot point once you get the Stone of Recall. I don't really see how a 30 second run back to town to change skills will kill anyone but the seriously impatient.

This could be fixed by introducing the stone after Normal difficulty. Letting people mess around and learn about skills in Normal.

All it would take is some rambling from Cain/Leah or even Captain Rumford at the beginning of Nightmare about the forces of evil suppressing the heroes abilities and this magical stone popped into town to nullify it!

Or something like that... might be a bit corny with what i mentioned.
