Act 4 and 5. I loved getting to act 4 (before the expansion obviously) and being able to think "This is it, I'm almost there" The fight with diablo was superb as well. I remember trying to kill diablo and getting through the portal to go back to town with 1 health left. I love the pandemonium fortress as well, it looks so heavenly, and the armor the NPCs wear looks fantastic as well. Every now and again you would see Jamella drawing signs in mid air with what seemed like some sort of arcane magic. It was just perfect in every way.
Act 5 was also a blast, the way it progressed was nice, and I loved snowy areas. Plus the music was amazing. The fight with the ancients was bar none one of my favorite fights ever (partly because it gave like 8 levels at once before that was patched down to 1), and partly because you felt high up. You felt as if you were progressing, and you were almost there.
I just imagine a closet that the janitor and the diablo 2 patch guy share. Like, a diablo 2 development team doesn't exist anymore so it's just one guy sittiing in the closet with an old beige computer with the CRT monitor as the only source of light in the closet trying to figure out what to do next with diablo 2. Then every now and again he posts on the forum "Hey, what do you guys want?" and holds a poll and everything, then 6 months later he FINALLY finishes it.
Maybe blizzard forgot about him and just don't notice his paycheck, I just gotta wonder who this guy is, I mean WoW and SC and D3 all have this huge development team and process behind it, but I can only imagine the single guy working on diablo 2 and thinking "ok, I have free reign over this game, and can do whatever the hell I want, what do i do?"
