you have no idea how much its going to cost to remove a gem from an item. it could cost a TON to remove the highest lvl gem from an item therefor you definitely will want to make the right choice. its 1 specific gem effect on 1 specific item, i dont get why your complaining so hard over this extremely small thingQuote from Valkray
its basicly a 1 time use, its a useless feature and reguardless if its going to be in lower level twink gear you can take the gems out of items throught the jeweler. Once you have one you dont need another. No on the level of inferno you see a ruby gem drop your going to be dissapointed and the first thing you'll say is Darn.
My problem with gems that hace crappy stats like ruby-helm is they could of put this crap on the enchanter, why the hell is it a gem effect? they could of gave us resistance or something similar, I'm by no means gonna say we should completely do away with some of the effects on some of those gems but i am saying they should be somewhere else.

Hum, you need almost 20 THOUSAND perfect gems of one type to get the max level gem. And considering perfect gems are the best gems that are going to be dropped, yeah, it'll take quite a while.Quote from Trashing
Something I can't really understand - isn't there a point in the game when there will be a gem inflation? So everyone just needs about 10 gems of each at a high level/max level and then it can be used easy for all chars? Or will it be that hard to make one perfect, that it is almost impossible?
huh? what are you talking about? who said that only perfect gems will drop? that would be insanely stupid. -

I think you are getting upset a little prematurely. One thing I noticed about the socketting page was that weapons were NOT included among items that could have a socket added. This says one of two things to me:
1) Weapon sockets haven't been added yet and are on the to do list, or the ability to socket weapons doesn't come until a higher jewel crafting level.
2) Weapon sockets wont be added until the first expansion, and with it there will probably be new items with which to fill those sockets. Remember, when Diablo 2 first came out there were only gems. After LOD, jewels and runes were added.
Also, remember that there is the Mystic Artisan that will do item enchantments. We will probably see a lot more variety in modifiers from this particular artisan.
Looking at just the gem selection is STILL (and this is not me getting prematurely upset), a dissapointment. Ruby Helm increased level gain? Really, buy the time your expected to find the last 3 levels in a game you'll probably be in inferno..... Oh wait? isnt that max level end game content... Shouldnt they have made the last 3 ruby gems something else? Like increased potion and health globe number value, blah blah. 1%, 2%, 3%. There sloppy and i'd hope this gets tightened up before release. If there going to push back a games release time we want to see improvements on bad ideas or semi place holders like these.
they said you can socket end-game lvl gems into low lvl gear encouraging "twink gear". having a lvl 1 helm with +31% xp gain, then the rest of your gear gets +attack (helm is only thing that gets +to xp gain) so just dont put a red gem in your end game helm, its THAT simple. THINK before you complain -

so this build should have near the highest constant survivability in the game. and i say constant because you wont need to waste passives to save your life like the one that reduces all dmg when below a certain point of health or makes you spirit walk and regens life, you'll never need it.
you'll basically have a constant 60% dmg reduction from all mobs(bad medicine passive + jungle fort). since mostly all of your damage is poison and AOE dmg at that. cloud from your gargantuan, aoe effect from your mother spider, and the actual Acid cloud.
your 4 dogs with 60% dmg reduction, 60% life increase, and mostly all of their dmg converted to life they SHOULD remain invincible even in later difficulties. and with them constantly healing you and taking the attention off of you, you wont need to worry much about getting hit at all and when you do it wont be for much and you have zombie wall to further block enemies.
id say the only flaw of this build would be mana, but since mana regens at a much higher rate then D2 mana, and with gear helping with that as well. as long as you arent spamming spells like a madman nonstop i dont see much issue.

for my theory i suspect we will definitely hear a release date by the end of the facebook beta sweepstakes giveaway which goes until mid december.

granted your build has nice survivability but its extremely low dmg output and almost no melee dmg makes it a bad build AND theres no way it can be considered even a 'battlemage' let alone a melee wizard. your only using melee to regen arcane power (not mana ^_^) which already regens at an insane rate, and since you have no spammable high arcane spending spells (explosive blast has a 1 second CD and wave of force 15 second CD) its pointless to use your melee attack to regen arcane power when you wont ever be spending enough of it to need to do that. lol

why is D3 only going to last for a month for you? and how would D2 give you a better "diablo" experience?

i think SOMEONE is in some serious denial....
you'll play D3 just as much. as will i!
0
sadly no one cares HOW the changes came to be. just that there are changes
0
precisely. i just reinstalled D2 and first 3 things i hated after 15 min of playing was constant potion spamming, skill points wasted, and using attribute points. just makes me all that much more excited for D3.
the 2 greatest changes IMO would be the no pots/healthglobe feature and most of all the generator skills. which technically is one big change to amount for the no pots feature. so you can ALWAYS be attacking. in D2 your constantly fleeing when you run out of mana with pretty much EVERY class. so annoying. and end-game you HAVE to have a merc with insight basically to constantly attack and then he dies. DOH fleeing again and paying 50k to res him. lol. so many flaws in D2 being fixed makes D3 the greatest ARPG by a million miles

MUCH MUCH better. very similar to the build i will be using for my first playthrough of the game to farm inferno for him and my other chars

they think "OMFG NO SKILL POINTS? FAIL FAIL FAIL" without realizing theres 2.4 trillion skill combo's and all the skills are actually useful VS D2 which had entire skill trees that were worthless. D2 had a total of 20-30 VIABLE end-game builds between ALL characters. each class in D3 will have HUNDREDS EACH. ive talked with many people and once i explain it like this they go "OHHHH...... sweet no skill points!" lol.
and same with attribute points, most people aggree it was an extremely flawed system in D2 and we are better off without them. but they see its removal and cry wolf without thinking about it at all.
and lastly the "pvp crowd" which humorously enough think they are the "majority" of diablo players and freak out about no pvp rankings or ladder in D3 and say "lolol this game will fail". yes because there was a vast majority of pvp options in D2 right? and EVERYONE played D2 for pvp right? i mean ya you dont see but <1% of games that are "D U E L Z" games between norm nm and hell combined but hey i'm sure that they are still the majority right?
