I'm actually looking forward to the entire event. I love the eSports stuff. I love all the universes. But, some new Diablo news would be great.

Oct 20, 2013Britward posted a message on Announcing the DiabloFans "Site Update" Beta, Diablo 3 For PS3 and Xbox 360 GiveawayOffline mode. I've long been a solo player and I found the Diablo experience to be much more immersive when I could play on my own.Posted in: News
And, this game would be played on my lovely PS3. -
Apr 20, 2012Britward posted a message on Open Beta Weekend!I doubt this is anything other than they expected. I love that I can take basic psychology 101 lessons and read a ton into people's reactions on these and other forums. This is exactly what they expected for the stress test. Your issue is that YOU, precious little snowflakes, can't get into the beta, while others can.Posted in: News
They did say stress test. They did say you'll likely have issues getting in and with latency. All things happening. -

One question guys - when you finished downloading the game client. Are you actually able to install it? Or we have to wait with the installation until may 15th?
Probably will be able to install, just not log in. But I'll let you know in about 15 minutes. -

Haha. But seriously, this should be interesting to see the effect on these forums. I've seen such an increase in traffic here since the announcement, and an awful lot of oddly constructive posts since the contest started. It's been fun! -

This.
They are an American company, even when they were owned by Vivendi. I'm not that shocked. Why wouldn't a British company start their beta in Britain? -

would it be to optimistic to say that rune/skill systems are the last major hurdle? or am i just clinging to false hope?
you are pretty much right
in saying that, i dont play the beta so not 100% ontop of what bugs or changes are left to be done, or blizz keeping certains things hush hush
but ye thats really thats left, unless.....more changes come about and beta 11 will have a load of stuff to test
i doubt it tho
it feels like end production now, i mean proper the end
As far as beta feels, it seems complete, just with the absence of runestones. I really do feel that's the last major change, and they can release when it's completed =P cmoooon feb 5th
Snaks42 if something big is anounced on feb 5th im going to kiss you, u might resist but im sorry i am gona kiss you
not in a gay way, not thats anything wrong with that
It might be a little gay from me. Diablo III does that to me. -
Jan 24, 2012Britward posted a message on Patch 10 - Unofficial Changes + Official Patch NotesI don't really see the sloppy mess, to be perfectly honest. Seems about the same, with more stops in town now. I like these changes, and with no context for hydra, having never played the game in beta or otherwise, I can't complain about it.Posted in: News
I don't know. -

I've got to be honest, I think this is all good news:
-scrolls for ID and TP are pointless. They're monetary value is negligible and now we don't have to waste inventory space carrying tomes and time going back to town to find out if an item is even worth keeping or not. Hope the door doesn't wrinkle their pages on the way out.
-Thank you for making normal items non-salvagable. Now when I'm feeling OCD I won't have to pick up EVERYTHING to salvage for scraps and hunks of metal. Also, I don't see a problem with crappy items dropping. If you remember back to D2, normal items weren't always worthless due to runewords and "cruel" attributes and stuff. You never know how mechanics like that will play into this game.
-Mystic.... wtf did the mystic even do? I don't remember. Peace, bitch.
-good ole attributes. Welcome home. I agree that it caters to there being "1 right mathematical formula" for each class, but the Blizzard guys have all acknowledged that issue before and I'm SURE they will do something to add depth to the system in that regard.
-Cauldron gone, no sweat. Especially with TPs back in order. Don't under-estimate the need to break up gameplay. This game looks really action-packed, so it will be nice to regroup and sell items in town every once and awhile.
Good job Blizzard. Take as much time as you need and make this game F'ing glorious. We've waited this long, what's another few months. I also agree with people saying these changes are a sign of PROGRESS, not DELAY.
I was gonna write a long post about my thoughts on the changes, but I decided I'd just quote this guy instead.
Most of the changes are minor improvements, though I have to say I really enjoyed having the cauldron and the cube at my disposal all the time. But as nobody has played through hell or inferno combined with the fact commons can't be salvaged anymore, we just have mo idea how it's going to work out until we get the game in our hands. Hopefully they find a nice balance.
Now I'm looking forward to the rune and skill changes. I'm praying they remove the need for the altar and find a better way to manage skills.
Likewise. These changes are spot on, and I'd rather Blizz take their time with this product. The fact that this game is going back to some D2 style action, even if a touch different, is fine by me. -
Jan 19, 2012Britward posted a message on System ChangesThere just seems to be no pleasing anyone. I don't think I could live my life this negatively.Posted in: News
That said, I like most of what they were doing. There was something I actually liked about the Cauldron and the Cube, but I can live without them.
And I'm just happy to hear what they've been working on. I think people are worried that all of these changes are going to take so much more time, but I don't know that they will be that bad. Stat changes are substantial but don't play the same part as stats would in a game like WoW. Skills and runes are still probably the thing they are spending the most time on.
But, oh well. There's plenty to do in the real world until the game comes out. -
Jan 17, 2012Britward posted a message on 10 Character Limit, Runed Way of the Hundred Fists, Poll, ScreenshotsI had an obscene number of characters in Diablo II, so this will mean I need to be a bit more disciplined in D3. But with the way skills are set up, this shouldn't be a problem as there's a lot more chance to try out different things with the same characters instead of having to reroll.Posted in: News
I'm also more likely to play on different regions now that they've confirmed it's not 10 total. Thank goodness for that. -
Jan 12, 2012Britward posted a message on Diablo 3 Passes South Korea's GRB. "Many More" Beta Invites, Book of Cain, Wizard's Hydra, ScreenshotsIn terms of the vocal minority's belief that this was all related to the South Korean issue, this will be a lose for Blizzard because if they announce a date next week or two months from now, all the people were so convinced of their little conspiracy theory are going to say, "See, we're right!!!!"Posted in: News
Oh, well. It's nice to see part of this thing ending. -
Jan 11, 2012Britward posted a message on Development Article Soon, What's NOT Delaying the Game, Zarhym on "The Big Meeting"More sense of entitlement and self righteousness from people who think they are owed something more than what Blizzard's delivering? Other than the fact that this is NOT EVEN REMOTELY DIFFERENT from any other Blizzard release in terms of information, they owe us nothing. Now, once the game is released, if it's buggy as all heck and has technical problems, that's a different story. But they are developing a game. So, it really doesn't make sense to be making any demands. Even with those of us who did the WoW year thing, there isn't much room for demands.Posted in: News

And no one should whine about pre-ordering or the Annual Pass. You got, and will get precisely the item you paid for upon making that decisions. I see nothing about open betas or guaranteed DIII betas.

They set up a test for server stability and the like. Yes, we're guinea pigs in this, but perfectly able guinea pigs who can use our own free will to decide whether or not we participate. If this -video game- is something that you feel like you're owed, then you ought to reexamine your life, your priorities, and the things you stress about.
This was never for our benefit, but I'm sure they're happy many of us are enjoying it. I hope that the many people who post on forums demanding that video companies give them free stuff find the means to grow up someday. But I have my doubts it will ever happen.

This build is meant to be very AOE to help quickly start draining life so others can do some clean up of some very diminished monsters. A couple of spells that basically have chances to repeat themselves or have another AOE effect to help hit as many creatures as possible. As well, the build incorporates some basic defensive skills just in case the damage doesn't happen and my character has to run for it.
I enjoy these AOE builds because, in terms of the visual, Wizards throwing down amazing god-like spells that fill the screen is the sort of visceral imagery that I think of when I put any kind of spell caster in a dark fantasy universe.

Diablo 2: Multiplayer. Simple as that. So much fun running around Hell difficulty, avoiding MSLE mobs with resist lower aura of death. Good times.
Diablo 3: Well, I don't know yet. But I'm sure there will be many memories to have in this installment.

Rosetta Stone is great. That's not a bad suggestion. Maybe learn Japanese so you can play all those import games. And you'll have broadened your horizons.

I'm not saying make a movie, though, if that's what you're into, go for it. But find that thing that you are passionate about and go for it. Writing? Podcasting? Something along those lines. Tons of fun, and eats of tons of time.

And good riddance. Listen, I enjoy the item hunt as much as the next guy. But stop pretending that this was because we were hunting for uniqueness. The core principle behind the item hunt was to find the precise items that would most benefit the build you had selected, a build that had been mathematically determined to be one of the best builds. Thus, tons of people had it. Runes were a way to customize our characters. And they still really are. I don't want that system tied to items, particularly when the item is hard to find.
We will still be item hunting for optimization. We will still be item hunting for the top end use of our build. But at least our playstyle (which runes are directly tied into) will not be tied into waiting on that item, particularly one that will be rarer than all the other items out there.

And Paladins would be interesting to see again. A fun zealadin would also look pretty cool with the newer graphics.
