i had troubles with reflect damage mobs too (MP7)....I was dealing with them by using RoT with 850 LoH (which is pretty good at negating the reflect damage, but it takes so freaking long.)
So i decided try another tactic. (I'm mainly a bear WD)
And i found a pretty decent way to deal with it.
I used Spirit Barrage with Phlebotomize. That 3% life back on damage is a godsend. It usually heals me for like 1500 Non-crit, and reflect damage usually deal like 2000. So it's pretty much negated...
However, that is not enough. You also need to be able to sustain your health pool. RoT was my old way to sustain my health pool, but it was doing poorly against single target (and freaking low damage).
Phlebotomize spirit barrage heals spike when i crit (ranges to 3000-6000 life). It's not as good as RoT w/ LoH in groups, but it's better on single target.
And i dont even have any gears that have life leech....I'll bet if I invest in life leech, (2 hander a waste imo, go 1h/mojo!), I will be able to do MP10 reflect damage mobs
Just my 2-cents.

Vagrancy posted a message on Monster Power Bonus Damage Reduced in InfernoIf anything I would have raised the damage and lowered the HP pools slightly. the 25% dmg reduction was their original intention as they had said before the patch...however I was under the impression it would just be implemented when 1.05 came out.Posted in: News & Announcements
I really don't see this as being a needed change...dmg wasn't the problem at all it was more just taking 'x' amount of time to kill the mobs due to high HP pools.
What a waste. -

Forcing us to trade instead of using the AH would make Diablo 3 at least 10 times worse than it currently is, because instead of spending 1/2 our time on the AH to be optimal, we'd need to spend a lot more than 1/2 our time trading to achieve something.
If you have to spend "half" of your time on the AH to "be optimal" then you're doing it wrong - in a game where efficiency is a key concept the thought that people are spending such a disproportionate amount of time in the AH to gear up is nothing short of unsubstantiated and ridiculous. I can honestly say that I've spent under 1% of my total time playing in the AH and my toon is certainly not "the best" but it is a very viable toon in the current game.
However, you're right that the AH is a significant step forward from the D2 method when it comes to allowing people to exchange items while attempting to maximize the time they actually spend playing the game. This is obviously a design goal. They clearly want us playing the game, not running to Pindle, killing him, ignoring all the loot, leaving the game, creating a new game, etc., and that obviously extends to the method of item exchange. The AH (especially for sellers) is a much more passive endeavor than trading in D2 ever was. This is HIGHLY beneficial to people who are primarily selling and a huge improvement from the past. Is the AH perfect? Certainly not, but in terms of affording people the ability to enjoy the game without spending hours trying to trade that Trang'oul's chestpiece for something else it's an amazing success.
The problem is that it's also an obvious design decision that items in the Diablo franchise will be tradeable and won't decay (outside of inactive accounts and hardcore deaths). The fact that it's been a cognizant decision on Blizzard's part (since Diablo 1, through Diablo 3) to allow 99.999999% of items to be traded means that they want item exchange to occur. People who don't embrace that very fundamental design decision and then complain that their toons will not be optimal are being not only childish but ignorant.
If you wanted to be optimal in D2 you didn't fart around trying to find every last piece of gear for yourself. That's obviously the least-optimal way to play a game where the obvious inference is that damn near everything is tradeable. Yet time and time again, people cry about the AH saying they're "forced" to use it. Yet somehow people believe that in D3 they should be able to be "optimal" and also not have to use the AH at the same time. That is precisely what the saying "having your cake and eating it too" refers to.
Just look at Torchlight 2. It may be fun short-term, but the game was hacked to pieces within a few days. It's not a successful long-term paradigm to allow people to get what they want when they want it with zero challenge. I had been on a legendary cold streak recently. I found a Stormshield last night. My WD wants nothing to do with a Stormshield but I was still excited about it. It's no different than had I found a Windforce on my Necro in D2. My Necro didn't want a WF, but I sure as shit would have been happy as hell to find a WF regardless of if I could equip it or if I had to trade it for gear that I could equip. If I found 18 legendaries per day the only thing I'd be excited about is a perfect Stormshield. Is that really the game people want? Why people think that it's not enjoyable to find an awesome item that you cannot utilize, but can exchange for another item that you can utilize.... well that's beyond me because that's the essence of how a game with completely randomized and completely tradeable loot works. That's the heart of the design going back to the very first game. It was the heart of the design of the beloved D2 and LoD teams. It's the heart of the series. -

GalZohar posted a message on Two questions for players who vocally dislike the AHAt lot of people are missing the point. I don't think any sane person who understands anything about this game says that it would be better with no AH even though you can still trade stuff. Removing AH and letting you still trade will just make the current situation 100 times worse. Instead of spending 50% of your time on the AH, you'd have to spend 95% of it trading if not more. That is if you want to be efficient, which is something most would want in a game where efficiency is the only real goal as stated by the developers. They are too incompetent/ignorant to give us real challenges, while keeping efficiency as an important factor without discouraging us from taking on said challenges.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Changes to drop rates or affix rolls of any kind will fix nothing. They will change the difficulty of the game, which won't matter much as it just changes how easy it is (it is already quite easy). However you will still need to spend a huge portion of your time on the AH (or trading if AH didn't exist) in order to be efficient. There is no fix for that other than adopting a WoW-like system, which they wouldn't do - Some argue because of RMAH, some (and Blizzard) would argue that it's what players want and is more D2-style (which may be the real reason but a pretty stupid reason in my opinion).
In the end the problem is not the AH itself, but rather the fact anything can be traded.
As for finding your own upgrades on a regular basis, unfortunately no matter what they do this is not going to happen. If you keep finding upgrades on a regular basis your stats will eventually explode beyond all proportions. The rate at which you find upgrades has to decrease the longer you play. No way around that unless they want to allow you to get infinite power. This doesn't have anything to do with AH, trading, or even how loot works at all. It's a fact that won't be changed in any way whatsoever. Then again, I think what people complain about more is that they can't find "upgrades that would make them as godly as the top players" often, which is not the same argument, but then again if the whole purpose of the game is upgrading your gear to massively increasing rarity levels so that you always have something to upgrade, then you simply can't be allowed to find such items on a regular basis, because then they won't be so godly anymore. -

shaggy posted a message on Two questions for players who vocally dislike the AHThe AH-haters are very well entitled to their feelings on the subject, just the same as anyone else.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
However, the line must be drawn when they play the "father knows best" card and simultaneously say that it's bad because they don't find it fun and that anyone who finds it fun is not allowed to have that opinion.
The only opinions that are not valid are the ones where people are completely and utterly disrespectful of the fact that they are not the only people playing this game. You dislike the AH? Great. Voice it in a constructive way. Whining, crying, and calling anyone who disagrees with you a "cheater" or "not a true fan" really should result in infractions.
I'm simply incredulous at the number of people who want to so vhemently force their opinion down everyone elses throat because the only invalid opinions are of those who disagree with them.
Why is it that in the context of the conversation that "the AH sucks" is a fact and "the AH isn't so bad" is completely invalid? It's complete ignorance, lack of civility, and downright intolerance like that which have driven me from the forums. There's a difference between constructively expressing ones opinions and being completely disrespectful of the fact that others will not agree with your opinions, but that simply disagreeing with you is not cause to judge their opinions as invalid.
None of your opinions are more "right" than the others are. No matter how badly you may believe that your feeling that the AH molested your sister is correct, it's just a stupid, shitty, opinion and opinions on the internet are worth less than Frostburn Gauntlets. -

I'm not sure why people do these videos. It's not like what he did in the video takes any skill. Once you get a certain amount of gear, this is what happens. Especially siegebreaker, lol... he's serious buisness.
Allow me to explain then. First i had all this same gear when i beat the game, sans the weapon. And it wasnt anywhere near this easy before the pet buff in 1.04, i had to kite him around and it wasnt a joke like it is in the vid. Again im not trying to show off any skill. But as i read forums and see people still having issues with a3 and beyond, i post vids like this to show how easy it can be with avg DPS, HP and Resists, if you just spec correctly for the fight. Most importantly its to show other WD's how much pets can truly do. When the patch first hit I just stuck to farming A1/A2 with VQ and bears. Honestly i was unwilling to let go of PtV, VQ and BBV, I thought pets would be horrible, but after much reluctance i tried A3 like this and now thats all i farm. So thanks for all the replies even if they were negative. -

I dont care if hes not at the cap yet or if hes got 6mos to worry about it. Its the long slow death of magic find as i see it. I played D2 for around 10 years, with the intent to play this game as long as possible, so yes, maybe its going to be a few months or a year before all MF is equal among top end game players, but thats like the first 1/10th of my future D3 carrer. So potentially the overwhelming majority of my D3 life will have been spent MF capped. Im not cool with that, sorry.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

NonMagical posted a message on Patch 1.0.4 Preview: BarbarianPosted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from Ruppgu
I'm a bit split on their design of not nerfing any abilities. On one hand, it's nice that they aren't touching builds that people currently find enjoyable. However, on the other hand, if they truely want build diversity, you need to nerf things. Battle Rage is a perfect example... it's just too powerful and is something you pretty much always want in your build.
Either way, I think a few of the mentioned buffs to skills seem a bit too much. 400% damage on smash? Are you kidding me?
Battle Rage is not used in every build. A better example would be Warcry with the resist rune. -

snowhammer posted a message on Developer Blog - 1.0.4 Systems PreviewOf course this post will come with many many people saying "They said inferno would be hard, now its nerfed to the ground!"Posted in: News & Announcements
Well.. I agree somewhat, but when you read between the lines, I think what they are actually saying is this:
"Look guys, inferno was a bad idea - we meant it to be a flat always hard difficutly, we found out that wouldn't work in testing, but we knew we couldn't remove it because people would have a fit if we removed ANOTHER feature. A side problem was our original intent for END GAME was inferno - well with inferno not working out how we wan't we no longer have an end game - but we're working on that. Here are some changes to make the game play more like it should with out the concept of inferno - stay tuned for more changes to totally fix the game"
Thats what I read. I think the part of me that wants to see a hard game is sad at how easy a time I'll have on my monk in Inferno - It will be face melting hilarity.. but then.. thats what D2 was and I loved it! I don't need 5 min champ pack fights - I need fun REWARDING demon melting fun. I think this all sounds like a good first step to that goal.
The Weapon Damage on i lvl 61-62 increase thing is AWESOME. Not only will it make finding weapons more exciting, it will make crafting weapons worthwhile.
So, this is a great first step - I feel like this hits the nail on the head as far as a "look the game is messed up, we can't make it perfect fast (ie in 1 patch) but we are doing these things to make it as good as possible in its current state"
Bravo imo - looking forward to playing again. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

The current itemization is already VERY limited. Everyone is after the same stats. Removing the usefulness of Pickup Radius would only make items even more stale. If you don't like how things are with your current pickup radius, then swap out a stat for some more. It's called a tradeoff.... and it's a good thing.

are you kiding me? I have crap gear and I could stand in molten and jump through arcane beams like they're nothing in MP6. Please don't complain about the haves vs the have-nots.
On the fact that it's a bug (apparently). If that's the case, why aren't they fixing it in normal as well? Reading between the lines it sounds like they're throwing out "herp derp, it's a bug" just to appease the people wanting a harder game. If it's really a bug, why don't they fix the bug instead of just nerfing damage across the board? It doesn't sound like a bug fix to me....

2.) Increased rewards for MP. If the rewards for attempting higher MP were actually worth the effort, there would be an actual reason to pay a premium for "best in slot" gear compared to just picking something up for pennies that is good enough to farm anything in the game. Currently, the only reason to go beyond this "good enough" gear level is for key/uber farming.
3.) Make MF/GF from paragon levels account bound. Stat based rewards from paragons should remain per character though. Finally, we'd have a reason to play alts again.

Stop complaining about the AH and complain about the real issue you have with the game then.
Your issue with the game is the loot quality. Blizzard wanted the game to last a long time so what they did was add layers upon layers of randomness which makes it so that it's REALLY hard to get a good item in this game.
* First you must get a ilvl63 item to drop (even at the best rates it's only 18%... even less if you aren't in act 3 yet)
* Now you must get it to roll at least as a rare
* Now you must get it to roll that it's a 6 affix rare (10%ish chance I think?)
* Now you must get it roll a combination of affixes that are worthwhile for your character
* Oh yeah... and they must roll the top tier version of that affix
Each layer of randomness builds on each other making it nearly impossible to get a perfectly rolled item. Have you even seen a perfectly rolled item even in the AH? I haven't.
It's a fine line. If you make it too random players aren't happy because they find crap loot. However, if you give the players loot too quickly, players become bored with the game. The next patch is eliminating one layer of randomness so maybe that will be enough for people unhappy about the loot.
The random loot + difficulty of Inferno seems to be the issue a lot of you in this thread have with the game. Instead of bringing up those issues though for some reason you go on a crusade about the AH. Does it really matter though? 1.0.5 is decreasing difficulty and increasing drops. Your issue will be fixed so turn those frowns upside down
The Diablo series has always been about non bound loot so of course the most optimal way will ALWAYS be to trade. The AH doesn't change that... it's how the series is designed. If you don't like that, Diablo isn't for you.

You completely missed my point.
I wasn't asking for quicker drops, I was asking for less drops but a higher percentage of drops that are worthwhile.
For example, currently you could farm for an hour and get 100 rares.. 1 of them is worthwhile. I think a better system would be you farm for an hour, you get 50 rares and 1 is worthwhile. What would this system do? You'll have more hope that a rare is actually worthwhile and you'll be more happy when they drop.
1
The difference is that it's the 1.0.4 changes multiplied by 4 or 5. Not only does it not fix the problem with loot, it's using a 1000 ton mallet instead of a hammer.
The problem with the loot in D3 is not that you don't get good items. The problem is that you have to wade through hundreds of crappy items before you find anything that is remotely worthwhile. It's not fun to ID a full inventory of rares and know that each one is likely worthless. I would much rather have items drop at a FAR less frequency but have a better chance at actually being worthwhile for players.
This change is just increasing the number of crappy items we get. The net result will be more items that are usable and therefore people will get upgrades quicker but it's not fun to pick up 50 items a minute and have to wade through them every few minutes. The loot problem had a few issues but the solution they're attempting here is only making the problem worse. I don't want more drops, I want less drops with higher quality. I don't like feeling like I'm collecting trash.

I went through and read my older posts (pretty funny to do btw, I highly suggest it). Here we go..
1a) Inferno is going to hit too hard and ranged will be 1 shot and it will be lame (http://www.diablofan...post__p__851129)
1b) Pets will be worthless with those damage numbers (http://www.diablofan...post__p__853446)
2) CCs will be too weak->Should do diminishing returns instead (http://www.diablofan...post__p__827179)
3) No one will group because of the scaling damage of monsters in inferno (http://www.diablofan...post__p__864300)
4) No one will group because of the insane monster health scaling in inferno (http://www.diablofan...post__p__864943)
5) People won't want to group due to MF sharing (http://www.diablofan...047#entry785047)
