I also remember the days of Diablo 2, shortly after launch...when well rolled rares were the best items around, better than the best uniques, and that's what people sought after.
There's nothing *new* about rares being the best items in Diablo. It started with D2, but got swept under the rug a bit in D2:LoD when a few affixes were taken off the rare/magic table, and new, more powerful uniques and runewords came into the game.
Am I crazy? I've just seen a lot of posts on this subject, and feel like people have selective memory about Diablo 2, no thanks in part to the xpac being around for so long...
