I recall that SSS takes you temporarily out of the battle while you are striking. this gives a second or so to gauge your situation and detrmine whether to; A-Dash out, B-Heal/fear, or C-Wave of light for it's damage and little knockback, or all three as a crap-I'm-trapped combo.
As the cliche goes, the best defense is a good offense.
- Fire Bomb w/ Pyrogeist
- Locust Swarm w/ Pestillence
- Spirit Barrage w/ Manitou
- Fetish Army w/ ANY
- Zombie Dogs w/ ANY
- Gargantuan w/ ANY
these are all no skill abilities... closest you'll get to traps on a WD
I dont think I understand how persistent summons, or turrets (oh, i get it, I called the sentry a trap) are traps.. Does this make the Sorc's Hydra a trap? j/k
Where as the spike"TRAP", damaging caltrops, and sentry like I mentioned, could make a really nasty combo for a mob to unsuspectingly walk into and spring while you're also pummeling from a distance. Much improved dps over raw pummeling and marked for death makes that that much better.

2:01am CST - Diablo3
It's as simple as that.
(edit: forgot, need to install diablo, insert anywhere between waking and last coffee brewing)
Kinda sorta, The DH definitely has the variety of potential traps though the WD has a handful of AoE crowd controllers and debuffs. The WD is potentially more closely involved in the battle since a few of it's skills and passives require close proximity now and again.
The DH has got the Sentry, Spike Traps, and Caltrops as well as a handful of delayed detonation skills which are trappish like the grenades and bola which lend well to good targeting and allow for more defensive play. Dont forget the five runes per, there's definitely room for a trapper type. Inferno viability is debatable, but I wont go there yet.
Not sure if you think it is really important but you have Bad Medicine as a passive but only your zombie bears deal poison damage. Don't think this is really a problem, the bears are just a little on the expensive side to spam. Might recommend Fetish Sycophants to add to your minions or Fierce Loyalty passives in place of Bad Medicine. Probably the later since thorns on and regeneration for all the minions could actually substantially raise your overall dps. The thorns affix also seems to be possible on most equipment, just no gloves and bracers according to beta string data.
So if you're only playing games with permanent death, you're talking about Diablo.
Actually, you're really talking about 20+ years of games which were the inspiration of Diablo 1.
There were arguments during the development of Diablo 1 on whether to make it turn based so many years ago. This was overthrown leading to the modern reinterpretation of the roguelike through diablo. The vast majority of the hundreds or thousands of roguelike games are all 'permadeath' games. I think anyone who has played them will agree that this new potentially obscene level of challenge is probably one of the true redeeming qualities of Diablo 3.
You guys need to learn your Star Trek data - Data will not willfully cause harm to a member of Star Fleet even if they are are an immediate threat to him.
However!, I believe we are under the assumption that they are in a life/death battle. Data has his morality subroutines and Spock certainly has his own morality and starfleet regulation. The question is not necessarily moot even if the person asking is not the uber dweebs we are.
Yeah, no pressure points, Data is what one calls an "Android". Also, like wumpus says, Data is faster stronger and ultimately probably a better fighter than Spock. Now if Spock must kill Data, and Data has his emotion chip in, Spock has a slightly better chance by trolling him to death or exploiting other weaknesses that emotions allow. Otherwise, sorry to say, Spock is dead.
I think it may not exactly be "divided" but just scaled. It gives experience it would in single player, that is it scales with the difference between you and the monster's level. If you are higher, you get proportionally less, and if you are lower, proportionally more.
I thinks means that if there are three idlers in town and you're out fighting, you still only get normal experience.. This is weird though and wonder if anyone knows the answer to this.
Aggression also increases through the difficulties. Although what this means exactly is not known but we can assume from the beta's complete lack of aggression is that monsters will be quicker to attack.
Jay had also mentioned that it's possible to skirt around difficult champion packs in Nightmare and Hell but not in Inferno. This leads me to think that monsters will also "see" you from further away as you advance through the difficulties. Perhaps even off screen line of sight in Inferno.
Im wondering if anyone knows if channeling abilities(Firebats) will always count as one attack per second, or will increased attack speed gear make channeling abilities hit faster, like normal attacks. I'm curious because I want to incorporate hungry bats into my Sycophant summoning build, but if they aren't going to be getting the added bonus from my IAS gear then I will choose another secondary ability.
Im pretty sure hungry bats arent channeled. They are like guided missiles one click = 1 bat. There are videos of Hungry Bats on youtube where you can clearly see how it works.
Hah, misread, missed hungry bats. I do recall it is a single cast as you've said. I think it's a 1sec cast delay, though I don't recall where I acquired that information.
Sadly, the WD is nothing like the Necro-summoner of D2. persistent summons aren't 'that' powerful and act better as distractions to keep the heat off you while you toast the monsters. Nevertheless, overlord of minions is still an option with sacrificial exploding zombie dogs. There are a handful of builds floating around, just search for "sacrifice" in the WD subform and you can get a good idea.
I do wonder though why the WD is in such disfavor. In the poll on the official forums he was lowest by a substantial margin. I haven't looked at any other polls though, time to check.
There was a "challenge mode" in D2 that you could only use the first unique weapon you find and nothing else (naked).
You'd never find a unique in DII without any MF................
Not true. YOu might not find a GOOD unique, but you do find uniques. I almost never ran with MF, because I never had the gear that would give decent MF, and still be decent enough to kill anything near optimally, and I found several. Sure, they were crappy (I think I found Griswald's Edge a half dozen times. What a crappy sword).
Personally, If I were to make HC harder (I don't think it needs to be), I'd just use the classic Juggernaut method. It is (I think, it's been awhile):
1) Can only talk to NPCs for quests. No shopping, selling, or repairing.
2) Can only use items you pick up/quest rewards.
3) Can switch any time.
4) As you can't repair items, you end up replacing them relatively often.
5) Continue until you die.
That said, I think durability is less of an issue in D3, at least it seemed to be in the Beta, because I never even was able to repair items.
That said, if durability really isn't a big limiter in earlier difficulties, I'd say you can only use whites. Maybe you're allowed to use Blues or higher if it's a class specific item, but otherwise, white only.
Now that I think about that, it'd be crazy hard, what with how bad whites are.
Or the old Diablo 1 Ironman challenge, one way trip to diablo. No return to town. Made those staff charges and juvie potions really valuable. Ah.. Good times.
It's SC, of course you can ^^
(at least I assume it's SC)
Absolutely, and if hardcore all you really need is spirit vessel, probably in place of Blood Ritual. And maybe MassConfusion back.
Inferno viable? I'm sure there's potential. Even all my first unenlightened noob builds in D2 were able to make it to Hell, just not able to beat Duriel most of the time.. actually, I think my first trap-sin got stuck at blood raven, but, still, made it to hell with my skill points spread over half a dozen or more skills with one maybe as high as 20 with the plus skills.
persistent summons are useful sure, but don't really think they are absolutely necessary especially with the amount of potential CC the Doctor has.
And for the Pepper, I think I like Version 4. As things get tough can always switch out things here and there to improve cc, like MC or Horrify in place of Hex.
