Bagstone posted a message on Where do I farm?Oh, look, it's that thread again.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Here's what was mentioned in this ^^ thread:
-Act 1
-Act 2
-Act 3
-Act 4
-Whimseyshire
TL;DR: Everywhere. /thread
I'll never understand why people desperately search for reasons to neglect 90% of a game's content and prefer mind-numbing, rinse & repeat, 2 minute farming sessions in one area.
Do freaking campaign playthroughs. You'll never ever again see the campaign after March 26. Play the game for fun. Unless you're a robot I don't see a reason why anyone would prefer to farm one single area for days and days and days instead of switching to different acts. -

Enty posted a message on How many expansions?I see them making One - 2 more expacs after ROS... Then just support. They've already stated this is the end of the trilogy, so any other Diablo games would be unrelated to this arc of the story. This doesn't mean that they will stop making Diablo related games, In fact quite the contrary, they could go on to create a Diablo RTS if they could make it work. OR maybe an MMO in the future. They open possibilities with this.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
As to "the game is shitty" Uh most people don't think that. Most people think this games pretty decent even with all its faults and problems. It will only get better so to say that ROS is shitty and that the next expac will be shitty too is a gross exaggeration that is far from the truth. And to think that your opinion is the majority opinion is also pretty stupid considering the people whining LIKE the game and WANT the game to do BETTER. What you're doing is just condemning it and saying this game sucks fuck it, That's much different from people saying "Put in PVP. Give us Necro, Fix Itemization." They at least provide constructive feedback that the team can use to better their game... you just give them shit for attempting to make you happy. IF you hate the game that much don't come back to the forums simple don't play the game and don't support the company. -

Love the fact that you don't want to acknowledge how, multiple times, you pointed out the stupidity of "rare" vs. "common", without knowing what it actually means, is just marvelous. You need to do that more often...screw up, I mean, not ignore making a mistake.Quote from Maka@Cardinal: hop on the PTR and start crafting, and stop when you run out of one mat. I'm willing to bet the mat that'll run out won't be the rare mat. And that, to me, would be /discussion.
By the way...the reason the white/common mat runs out the fastest is because it's used in pretty much everything. Requiring more mats in recipes, FYI, is actually better, because it makes crafting anything at all something to work toward, and so that people can't SPAM crafting the way they did previously.
That bottleneck also tends to help when launching into new territory, like an expansion and/or complete game overhaul, because in case you haven't noticed, it's been quite a while since D3 first launched, and the PTR changes over various things you have saved. For instance...
I once had a full stack of 500 Subtle Essences in my stash, along with 500 of every other blue material. They've all become Exquisite Essences.
I once had a ton of Pages and Tomes...they've all become Demonic Essences, of which I know have over 1500
I once had a ton of yellow mats, like Fallen Teeth...I now I have over 1500.
Compared to white mats, which I've only just started collecting, aaaaaaaaand...yes, obviously those will run out if I'm crafting away every single one of them before I really need to.
So yes...that is...

CardinalMDM posted a message on A little Heart to Heart about RoS...Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionI have to say...I really wish people would specify what they mean by "drop rates." Not that I don't necessarily know what "drop rate," but when people aren't seeing enough legendaries in D3, they usually default to the same bloody argument..."they really need to increase drop rates." But drop rates aren't always the answer to the problem, nor is it always the problem.
Example...during one of the community's MANY whining sessions about drop rates of high end gear, a patch came out that increased monster density. The only drop rates Blizzard changed were on the little stupid scorpions and bugs people were exploiting in Act 3 (and people still complained about it, pretty sad if you ask me). Overall, they didn't "raise drop rates" like everyone begged for them to do, but in the end..."the rate at which people saw legendaries" ended up rising ever so slightly due simply to the fact that people were killing more monsters.
That being said...I think part of the issue here is that people are seriously underestimating the value of Rares. They see the potency of the updated legendaries, and imagine how marvelous it'd be to run a fair and square OP build that people can't shoot holes through ("you flipped items for gold to buy that," "you're a credit card warrior," etc.), and they salivate as they ponder all the wonderful build possibilities of the awesome legendaries...then their logic sets in, and they think "well gosh, I'll never see those in my play time with bad drop rates like this, so I don't want to play...time to cancel my pre-order/so glad I haven't pre-ordered."
Think about it, though...all in all, low drop rates of legendaries may seem really discouraging, but if people aren't seeing enough legendaries to make particular builds work, it isn't hard to gather up Veiled Crystals, Arcane Dust, Common Debris, and gold to Enchant Rares to do all sorts of stuff players want them to do to make cool builds work in the meantime while pursuing awesome legendaries.
In fact...and what I'm about to say may be bordering on curse words here, but people could even...perhaps...TRADE for particular Rares that have specific base stats on them, specifically so they can Enchant the right stats onto them to make builds work better. Granted, powerful and common builds using mostly rares may be builds that aren't going to be bothered with when people gather up a ton of legendaries....Cooldown Reduction builds, Resource Cost Reduction Builds, builds that work in Paragon Point allocation in general. But they'll still be potent enough to work on while legendaries are taking time to show up.
Sure, finding amazing WD pet legendaries to make a sweet Zoo build, the Life Regen boots, or Frostburn Gauntlets for permafreeze, or other such legendaries would be seriously awesome. I can't wait to see them all. But there are still great builds to be made in the meantime using Rares.
Honestly, I love finding Legendaries and Sets and all that stuff. And I realize Diablo is, at the very core, a loot hunt. So I get it...if a person isn't finding good enough loot, chances are their satisfaction level is pretty low. But I think part of Blizzard's MO here is to place more utility and purpose on Rares, while making high end legendaries and sets the far off goal to continue chasing after. I mean, if most of those Legendaries are as OP as they've looked, they're not mandatory. They're icing on the cake.
The big issue here is that Reaper of Souls has tons more item customization and options than D3 ever did. And "tweaking" the drop rates too much, like other people have said here, is really touchy. They can only "raise them" so much, as if they make them too high, game becomes too easy. They're handing legendaries out to anyone killing a few mobs. At least if they're low, they remain out there to be acquired. Which is why Rares are still tradeable. Legendaries can be superpowered, sometimes overpowered, but Rares can be treated like projects.
If I have a build in mind, or an Enchanting direction I want to take, and I need a Rare...I'm heading to the Trade channel, because chances are, I'll have a ton of crafting materials to do some heavy duty Enchanting. And if I get the right Rare I want, I'll be able to make the build I want. Even if Rares continue to be purchased with real money on some 3rd party site...they won't be the end all of item progression, but at least they'll be good enough to keep a player going.

Sabvre posted a message on How I solved TradingPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionThis whole "don't tell me how to play" bullshit argument is tiresome.... it's a fucking game.. you know.. with defined rules... and defined intentions.
If the developers want you to play, or not play a certain way, then accept it or fuck off.... This game isn't for you.. move on.
It's THEIR game.. they created it. Blizzard decided to NOT make Diablo 3 a sandbox... sorry.

Catalept posted a message on What will keep me playing?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I fully expect to spend a lousy several hundred of hours playing with friends just finding gear and builds that let me stomp the hardest difficulty on the classes I like and try out a bunch of legendary-based builds, but then what? That's it really. Much less than the thousands of hours I was expecting, and indeed deserve.
Adventure mode is bullshit. Blizzard's arrogance is still forcing me to into only being able to wear a single helm (with only one stupid gem in it)... forcing me to pick skills from a single class...play in the Diablo universe, instead of unlocking portals to the Lost Vikings universe, where I really want to play. All this hand-holding crap taking away all the choices that should be mine makes me furious. FURIOUS I TELL YOU! -

Bagstone posted a message on How much gold should you save up for RoS?Okay, can we stop assuming that everyone has billions after a couple of days in RoS? The numbers just don't work out.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Yes, all the famous streamers get a few dozen million gold per hour. But that's just because they are playing 24/7, brought in 500k+ DPS gear and billions of gold, enchanted their gear to have a crazy head start on high Torment levels, then grabbed jaw-dropping new legendaries and are roflstomping through Torment 6 now with insane speed. After three days of beta these guys have gear that many people won't have even months into RoS, they are using broken skills that won't make it to live.
Did anyone watch the Diablofans stream? I can relate much more to that. They're playing on lower Torment level (2 or 3 IIRC), they're playing like a normal human and not like a robot, and their money/hour is much lower (I remember seeing some 300k for a bounty or so).
Yes, you can get to paragon 100 in 30 hours, you can find 6 legendaries/hour, you can kill MP10 ubers in under a minute. But most players haven't even reached paragon 100 after a year, some players play a day without seeing one legendary, and some players have never killed MP10 ubers.
If Blizzard were to balance the game around your famous idols from Twitch, we'd be screwed. It's like watching Michael Jordan and deciding that your own Basketball basket needs to be 5 meters high up and super tiny because otherwise it's "too easy". - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Doing a campaign reset and just going back through the game is a ton of exp, slightly less repetitive, and still great loot. It's almost certainly less efficient.

The question is irrelevant since this line of discussion stemmed from how items rolled under an old leveling system are being deprecated since they no longer fit inside the new system's contraints. It would be the same as if there was a weird item that dropped at level 50, but (due to a bug) is better than most of the items at level 60.

The division between "self-found" and "not self-found" for me has always been use of the Auction House (buying or selling). Now that it doesn't exist, we're now back to what was normally available to a Diablo playe: vendors, crafting, slaying, and trading.

- Min and Max stat requirementstems that give you a significant boost but also reduce something else. Using Rogue Legacy as an example, the Hokage class hits hard and is very fast, but cannot score critical hits. This gives you the opportunity to rethink your setup since you no longer need any crit bonuses (i'm sure something like that has been proposed in the past).
- Perhaps add items or even modify some skills such that a core stat your class doesn't use (i.e. Strength/Wizard) would become more desirable.

Bingo.
Or play hardcore...recklessly.

Isn't starting new characters for ladder, pvp, and offline all just leveling a class? It seems like you just want Diablo 3 to have more ways that force you to re-level a character.
