posted a message on What should I change to farm Act 3?
I can do Act 2 just as easily as I used to do Act 1 but still not getting decent drops. Im thinking about dropping all MF gear for more DPS,Health, and resists and moving into Act 3. What should I start upgrading first?

    http://us.battle.net...4/hero/23068063

My resist are all from 800-900 with the average being 860

    1. I figure Helm first for more crit chance
    2. On the fence with Ammy. I have 1400 LoH and it has saved my ass plenty of times. But I guess if I drop the MF I can still get one with crit, resists, and LoH for cheap.
    3. Rings can go drop for 4% crit, more int, and resist all

And what people like you do not understand is that with more MF you have a greatly increased chance of getting those godly items than without. If you are dropping 50 rares per run with MF compared to 10 rares a run without you have a 5 times greater chance of getting that godly drop. Not quite sure whats so hard to understand about that but unfortunately you don't seem to grasp it.

And at 300 MF I get an average of about 60 rares per act 1 run.

    lol... really?

(1)Obviously I know that it increases the chance for white items to turn into rares. But the point is that you never increase the amount of ilvl 63s that drop in the first place.

You get 60 rares per A1 run? Wow Great. Guess what? Like 1-2 of them are going to be ilvl 63. So you just found 58 items that are considerably worse than ilvl 63. Most of those items are probably sub 61 too. So congrats, you found a cool ilvl 58 mace that's worth 2000 gold to an NPC vendor.

(2)I run A1 with 340% MF and average 1-2 ilvl 63s per run.

(3)Act 1 is pretty terrible for MF. Not quite sure whats so hard to understand about that but unfortunately you don't seem to grasp it.

(4)All that matters is ilvl 63 really. And if I'm only getting 1-2 per run at 340% MF it's clear that they aren't dropping frequently enough. You really need to farm A3 to have the best chance of getting good items.

(5)You also don't seem to understand how NV works. With a 5 stack in A3 you're guaranteed a rare drop. Making 5x NV sooooo much better than 75% MF. I often don't get any rares when killing champs in A1 with 265% MF up to like 3 NV stacks.

It's already been said in this thread that A3 is noticeably better than A1 with much less MF. That's the only point I'm trying to make here really.

Okay, since you wanna get snippy.

3: You can say A1 is terrible all you want. I have made over 100million gold doing 1-3 A1 farms a day over the past 2 months. I can clear a full A1 farm session in 25-30 minutes in my full MF gear. I would rather have super speed doing A1 farms then the slower grindier A3 farms. I can do 2-3 A1 farms in the time it takes me to do 1 A3 farm thus more than doubling the number of drops and usually coming out ahead with the ilvl 63s, it's simple math. (18 elite packs and 2 bosses in A1 compared to what? 12 elite packs and 1 boss?)

I call BS. I farmed Act 1 for 6-8 hours a day over a 2 month period with 350 MF and never got any set pieces or legendaries worth more than 200k. I never sold any kick ass ammys/rings for 10+ mil gold. Never sold any piece of armor for more than 1 mil, and every lvl 63 weapon I got was worse than every 61 I got. The only reason I am able to do Act 2 now is because I spent a decent amount of money on the RMAH so I could get out of Act 1. Now I am forced to farm even harder so I can make back what I spent and I only have 3 weeks to do it in because when GW2 comes out Im donw with this worthless game. I will probably do chargebacks for all my RMAH purchases as well. Screw Blizzard and their shitty loot system forcing you to spend RL money just to farm higher content.

Im at the point where Act 2 is just as faceroll as Act 1. I do 25 min Vault of Assassin runs then log out and reset. Of course all the drops still suck ass so dont know why I spent so much upgrading my gear to do a higher act.

LoL wizards dont kite. I stand in everything laughing as 2 elite packs try and kill me at the same time yet Im always at 100% health and they are always dead.

High resists are worthless if your armor is low enough to only give you 58% dmg reduction, having 1:1 armor/res is the best way to stop taking damage. So basically if you get around 8k armor act2 should be much easier for you.

    New profile: http://us.battle.net...4/hero/23068063

850-900 all resists. Act 2 is now easier than Act 1.

Also 8k armor is impossible. Im at 5k now and im not dropping resist or MF just to buy armor with +armor bonuses. Theres no way to get it that high unless you are a HP/Life% barb using a shield and running around with 90k health.

Act 2 is faceroll. Only thing that used to give me me trouble were blazing guardians in VoA especially with retarded affixes like shielding , jailer, and frozen since they are kiting mobs But I have learned how to kill them now. I can easily take on 2-3 packs at once just moving a little depending on where desecrate/arcane is

Sure it most certainly can increase the # of 63s that drop. If I had a mob drop 3 level 63s but they were all white because my MF sucked then it basically dropped zero 63s.

Just like when you got presents on your birthday, but you did't like any of them, so you basically got no presents!

    Yes.

    Exactly like that.

Actually it would be more like if you and a friend went fishing and had a bet to see who brought home the most. You caught 50 fish but only 10 were keepers. he only caught 12 fish but they were all keepers. So he wins because he has more fish. I mean if you and a friend had a contest to see who could farm the most 63s are you going to show up with 47 whites and say "I win!" no. Only rare 63s count as 63s.

MF can't increase the number of ilvl 63s that drop and MF doesn't affect the stat rolls on items besides the higher chance to get a full + split stat combo. This is why MF isn't as good as some might think.

Those are the two most important things in D3. You need ilvl 63s because it has a much better chance of rolling higher stats, and then you need to get lucky and get a good stat roll.

Sure it most certainly can increase the # of 63s that drop. If I had a mob drop 3 level 63s but they were all white because my MF sucked then it basically dropped zero 63s. But if I had 300 MF and those whites became rares causing you to actually picked them up then it indeed affected the number of 63s that dropped. If a mob drops four white 63s and after farming when IDing my items there are zero 63s in my bags how many 63s dropped during my farming run? NONE.

I'm pretty sure nobody bought this game with the expectation of kiting all day or whirling around forever like a ballerina.

Isnt this the monk forums arent they melees? Why are you kiting? My wizard doesnt even kite, he just stands there soaks everything with diamond skin and 1400 LoH with 900 resists. Certainly monks can stay in melee range longer than a caster because otherwise that would just be stupid game design.

After reading this I think you are a little bit confused how exacly MF works. First of all any MF beyond 5 NV stacks increases QUALITY, not QUANTITY. With 5 stacks NV you have 100% chance that at least 1 rare item will drop from elite/rare pack. So with no MF past 5 stacks you will get rares but most of them will suck. Also the key is to get that 8k dps more but stay at current MF ;).
it does not increase QUALITY, lets put it like this a champion pack drops a certain ammount of items rare/white/grey/rare and are of random ilvl, the higher the ilvl the lower the chance to drop. MF will increase the chance that those items instead of white/grey are blue/rare/legendary. it certainly does not increase the QUALITY of the item. blizzard even made a post about it. but more rares, means more ilvl 63 rares means better items if you are lucky.

How can you say it doesnt increase the Quality? Lets say with no MF other than NV i get 1 rare and with 300 MF I get 3 rares it most certainly increased the quality as I got 2 more rares. Seeing how a yellow item is higher quality than a blue item it increased the quality of the items that dropped.

    1 tip for y'all:

Dont forget that there's skill in determining whether your loot is "good" or not. And there's skill in trading/pricechecking/setting up price. I see too many complaining about "not finding good loot for tens, hundreds of hours". But i simply believe you either throw away valuable loot or just setting up bad prices.

No its not really hard to punch in the stats of my items and determine if they are trash or not.

Most items dont even make it to this point for me. I know what sells and what just rots for 36 hours. If I get a pair of gloves that dont have a high DPS stat, crit hit, and crit damage I already know they are crap. Unless I get a 200 stat roll with 70+ resist all and also a decent amount of vit they get vendored. If anything lacks resist all on visible armor (shoulders, legs, chests, boots, bracers) it gets vendored unless it has MF because no one is buying anything without resists. If a helm lacks a socket it better have 200+ stats, high vit, resist all, and crit or its vendored. Im not wasting my 10 slots on 30k items. If a weapon is less than 800 DPS its vendored unless its rocking a high Crit and LoH. But anything under 500 DPS is vendored regardless of crit and LoH. Also why did Blizzard even waste their time adding ilvl 61 weapons to the game. its 100% impossible for them to roll anything remotely close to something a level 60 would consider buying.

posted a message on Is doing shorter farming runs actually better?
set waypoint to Vault of Assassins, getting 5 stacks real fast going to sewers>black canyon mines>road to alcarnus. Then check for the goblin at alcarnus and ancient path before heading back to VoA. Even only picking up 61+ only unless rings/ammys and ignoring 61 weapons I still usually end up with 10-20 drops which isnt bad for 20 mins of work and most of them are 62/63 compared to mostly 61 junk you get in Act 1. Of course I might as well get 0 drops because thats how many items actually go on the AH.

I really dont see how Act 1 can possibly be better than the route I use. I farmed Act 1 for 2 months using 325 MF so I know how much it blows. The only way I finally got out of Act 1 was being forced to buy $175 worth of gear on the RMAH so I could farm a higher act. I might not be getting stellar drops yet but I get noticeably more 62s and 63s so the potential is there just happen to have worst luck on planet earth. And Act 2 is just as easy unless I get hilarious affix mobs that take 10 minutes and 3 deaths to kill....Im looking at you invuln minion, jailer, arcane, desecrate Blazing Guardians

You couldnt even faceroll Act 1 with a mil in gear.

Yes you can. With a 1 million gold investment you should be able to easily farm Act 1 with very few hiccups.

Retardedly overblown hyperbole is not fact.

OK put together a MF suit with at least 300 counting NV stacks for under a mil. Seeing how no one farms Act 1 without stacking as much MF as possible you still cant gear out an Act 1 farming character with a million gold.

Um, I do. I like Act I so I farm it and I stack precisely zero MF. I still make plenty of gold and still get multiple $200-500k, and low mil items weekly. I also play maybe an hour and some change a night.

For whatever it's worth, reading your posts as a third party, it sounds like you are just burnt out. If you aren't having fun, and it certainly sounds that way from here, go find something else that is fun. Diablo 3 will still be here when/if you want to try again.

    1. Im not quitting until I have made back everything I spent getting geared using the RMAH
    2. Guild Wars 2 is still 17 days out.
    3. If everyone else can get good drops playing far less why the hell cant I?

I have found at least 8 items in Act I that I can think of off the top of my head that sold for over 15mil. If you really farmed that much and never found anything then you either 1) have lottery winningly low bad luck; 2) don't know how to price the drops you are getting; 3) didn't really spend that much time farming and it just feels to you like you did.

Before they buffed act III drops and I was focusing on act I, I was making 5-8mil a day, and usually only about 3-4 hours of farming.

Trust me had I been getting tons and tons of drops and was making millions I would post about it. I used to post in WoW forums that gold sellers were uesless because I was making 20k gold a day and had over a million. Then bragged about how much I got when I sold off my million. When I say Im not making gold, trust me Im NOT making gold. But making gold in this game is 100% RNG and blind luck and relies on farming every waking hour and hoping one of your 500 rares you got from a 14 hour farm session isnt total garbage. I have had horrible luck my entire life I should have figured the same was going to be true in a video game.

Hell I will even fire up my stream just to prove I couldnt even sell my soul for good drops. Will be doing Act 2 with 246 MF counting stacks.
