    Quote from Limdul»

I've noticed that most TR builds that run meteor as a spell tend to use it to fill the arcane slot meaning starpact.

However, when you cast a starpact meteor (and eat up all your AP) don't you significantly reduce the damage of your TR procced meteor (which then procs with next to no AP)? Wouldn't it be much more effective to use thundercrash and the AP signature?

Yes to do your first question, no to your second.

TL:DR Mammoth does more damage if it is placed closer, even with zei's gem equipped.

Due to some questions raised in this thread:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/17085850012#3

    Further testing showed that:

    • A single fire trail can tick up to 16 times on a single target, if close enough, so that's a 4.5 second duration from first hit to last hit.
    • A target at max range will have 10 ticks per fire trail dealt to them, takes 1.5 seconds for fire trail to travel to them.
    • Mammoth ticks for 99% wpn dmg once every 18 frames (0.3 sec), per fire trail.

    This Means:

    • 1584% wpn dmg done per fire trail cast if all ticks hit (melee range)
    • 990% wpn dmg done per fire trail cast if at max range (10 out of 16 ticks)

*This testing was conducted at 1.0 aps using a single fire trail

posted a message on Wizard Streamers?

Wizards have been out of the meta for a while now, so streamers likely moved to greener pastures.

The set-up that DOES let wizards compete in high-end group or solo greater rifts has really strict gear requirements, that people who haven't already been playing wizard for a while likely wouldn't meet. This also reduces the number of high profile streamers who are likely to use wizard.

Zei's and Trapped are in a league of their own and nothing can or does compete with them for damage.

But for this particular build you do need perfect IAS to push it to the limits as it frees either a legendary gem or skill slot which is pretty big.

You might want to check out post #7 :-)

Yeah, they got the clear despite having lower dps, shows how much higher the ceiling really is.

Dude is running identical gear, and a similar spec, but is just running it with less actual output.

As you can read above you don't need perfect IAS gear it helps to push the limits and while Hydra is great I'm sure there will be tons of other builds simply because talrashas allows the diversity.

You'll find that I'm quite aware of the options for IAS. But for this particular build you do need perfect IAS to push it to the limits as it frees either a legendary gem or skill slot which is pretty big.

As for other builds I look forward to what other people come up with. Hydras is the best conclusion I can see in a world with no globe doc for infinite resource.

Time to roll with wizard again even if i dislike hydra and being in melee range lol

    Pick your poison.

Roll a DH and need to find Ancient Krider w/disc + meticulous bolts w/disc

Roll a Wiz and need to find an ancient Sparker with 7%, perfect taskers, and other perfect IAS gear.

Why is 4.032 aps the break point ?

When you have a finite number of frames in order to complete an action you have to plan ahead of time the number of frames that animation will take as the total number of available frames for it to happen go down.

So it is simply the result of needing to make something appeal to scale continuously in a discrete setting.

Interestingly, if you check the gear, the wizard is far away from the Hydra breakpoint, so I think sacrificing DPS just to get IAS everywhere might not just be unnecessary, but even detrimental.

With the optimal gear, what is the sacrifice in dps you speak of to hit the breakpoint? What it requires is:

Weapon: 7% IAS, 10% dmg ancient sparker
Bracers: 7% IAS, lacuni or strikes
    Chest: 7% IAS, tal chest
Gloves: 7% IAS Taskers (with 50% pet speed)
    Ring1: 7% IAS, 6%CC, 50%CD, Socket Focus
    Ring2: 7% IAS, 6%CC, 50%CD, Socket Restraint

The only possible sacrifice I see there is a potential 1300int from both rings. This in exchange for 33% more hydra damage, and higher flame blade stack cap (if you're using that skill).

But the real kicker is if you're not using hydra...how are you paying for whatever spender you replace it with in a world without globe docs and where a krider DH with no resource worries in the world is waiting to hop on your spot?

All of those things you mentioned are terrible.

You have 3 options, none of which will be better than other elements:

#1. Use tal's 6, and lightning meteor (worse than fire)

#2. Use DMO 6, and Arcane Orb: Spark (worse than cold)

#3. Use tal's 6, and lightning hydra (far worse than fire)

So, its not that strong as dhs, thats okay! Because no one cant EVER EVER balance any class to the same point. But if , lets say, 2x dh wd crus can get grift 62 , and 2x wiz wd crus are able to get 60, its okay!

Im thinking about rolling an season 3 wizard with the new set, so its pretty okay for grouping and solo?

Wizards are far weaker now(3rd PTR patch) than they were in that video(1rst PTR patch).

Cut at the very least in half, if not more.

Meanwhile DHs are stronger than they already are on live.
