Now that the formalities are out of the way:

    CarnEvil Guide Patch 2.1.1

General Witch Doctor Build Questions/Info about the build

What element does my Fetish Sycophants benefit most from?

    • * Poison While their shooting darts, but physical when they melee a target .

    What is the Dps prioritization?

    For Stats on gear

    • * Int > Crit Chance > Crit Dmg% > Attack Speed > Avg Dmg
    • * Increase Fetish Army Damage (Note:This only applies to Fetishes that are summoned from the skill)
    • * Attack Speed (Fetishes only fire darts when you do)
    • * Slow Attack speed= Fetishes firing slowly= low Damage output
    • * Fast Attack speed= Fetishes firing quickly= High Damage output

What set pieces/item make the build work better?

    • * Zunimassa 4 Piece Set, to make Summon Fetishes Army Last forever
    • * Aughild's Power + Aughild's Search + Royal Ring of Grandeur, Defense and increase Dmg to elites
    • * Cain's 2 Piece Set, to gain a 8% Attack Speed
    • * Swamp Land Waders: 20% Increased Poison Dmg
    • * Star Metal Kukri: Reduces Cooldown of BBV, and Summon Fetish Army By 1 second each time your fetishes deal damage.
    • * Dagger of Darts: Allows for Darts (Your own, or your pets) to pierce through targets
    • * Unity Ring- For solo play, used with your follower allows for 50% Damage mitigation

    Paragon Setup:

    Core Prioritization

    • * 1.Movement Speed until max
    • * 2.Int

    Offensive Prioritization

    • * 1.Attack Speed
    • * 2.Crit Chance
    • * 3.Crit Damage

    Defensive Prioritization

    • * 1.Armor
    • * 2.Life %
    • * 3.All Resistance

    Utility Prioritization

    • * 1.Life on hit
    • * 2.Area Damage
    • * 3.Resource Cost Reduction

    Gearing list:

The gear list can be different between what you have, and what on the list. I've listed the most commonly used end game pieces that most people use in either group, or solo Greater Rift tier play. As long as you have good rolls on your gear, and farm on a semi regular basis obtaining these items isn't to difficult.

However the hardest items to get are as follows:

    • * 3.Dagger of Darts (With good rolls) (Drop Rate: 7.04%)
    • * 2.Hell Fire Amulet(With good Rolls)
    • * 1.The Witching Hour (Drop Rate: .83%)

    Drop rates mean the following:

    • * The % Chance Drop is for when a legendary drops for that specified slot
    • * I.E.: A legendary Dagger drops, DOD Drop Rate is Roughly 7%, so basically out of every 10 Legendary Dagger drops you "SHOULD IN THEORY", have one of those drops be a Dagger of darts.
    • * Keep in mind you could go through 30 Legendary Daggers, and see no DOD, then on your next 3 Legendary Dagger drop you get 3 DOD in a row, that is what we call "RNG" or Random Number Generator.

With that being said below here is the item list, with what I believe is the best items for that gear slot:

    Terminology: Key

    • * Int= Intelligence
    • * Vit= Vitality
    • * Attack Speed= Increased Item Attack Speed
    • * Critical Chance= Increased Critical Chance
    • * Critical Damage= Increased Critical Damage
    • * Dmg%= Increased Weapon Damage
    • * All Res = all Resistance
    • * Elemental Damage= Increase Fire/Cold/Lighting/Holy/Poison/Physical Damage
    • * LOH= Life on hit
    • * Increase skill Damage= I.E.: "Increase Fetish Army Damage"
    • * CDR= Cool Down Reduction

    Gearing list:

    Helm: CarnEvil

    • * Stats you want: Int, Vit, Crit Chance, Socket
    • * Allows for our Fetishes (Fetish Army, OR Sycophants) to shoot poison darts every-time we shoot a dart.
    • * Mandatory for the build

    Shoulders: Aughilds Power

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Vit, Armor/All Res, Increase Fetish Army Damage
    • * Part of a 3 Piece set combination
    • * 2 Piece set= 7% Decreased damage from melee/ranged attacks**
    • * 3 piece set = 15% Increased Damage to elites, 15% Decreased Damage from elites.

    Gloves: Tasker and Theo

    • * Stats wanted (alternative): Int, Attack Speed, Crit Chance, Crit Damage
    • * Increases pet attack speed up to 50%
    • **KEEP THIS IN MIND about TaT and CarnEvil Build**
    • * The attack speed increase to pets, doesn't work for Fetishes while shooting darts
    • * The reason for the above statement, is due to the fact Fetishes only shoot Darts when you do
    • * The reason why I suggest TOT still, is due to the fact in some situations due to positioning, wallers, and reflect the best course of action to maintain DPS is to simply not shoot darts.
    • * When your in a situation where you want to let fetishes default to melee enemies, TOT will allow them to attack Faster, and maintain a "decent" level of dps until you can return to shooting darts.

Ring 1: Unity, or Stone of Jordan

    Unity

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Crit Chance, Elite Damage, Socket
    • * Stats wanted (alternative): Int, Crit Damage, Elite Damage, Socket
    • * Used for solo play to obtain 50% Damage mitigation with your follower

    Stone of Jordan

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Socket, Elite Damage, Elemental Damage
    • * Stats wanted (alternative): Crit Damage/Crit Chance, Socket , Elite Damage, Elemental Damage
    • * Elite damage, Elemental Damage both on one ring. Excellent to increase fetish damage output
    • * You will only be using Stone of Jordan, when you are in a party however

Ring 2: Royal Ring of Grandeur

    • * Stats wanted :Int, Socket, Crit Damage, Attack Speed
    • * Stats wanted (alternative): Int, Socket, Crit Chance, Attack Speed
    • * Love it, or Hate it this ring is your best friend. Reduces set cost of all set items by 1, but nothing permitted below 2 set pieces.
    • * This ring is Mandatory due to the fact we run 3 Pieces of Zunimassa, and 2 Piece Aughilds.

Weapon: The Dagger of Darts (DOD)

    • * Stats wanted: Int, %Dmg, Socket, Attack Speed
    • * Stats wanted (Alternative): Int, %Dmg, Socket, LOH/VIT
    • * Best in slot Weapon for CarnEvil build Hands down
    • * The ability to allow all dart projectiles to pierce through targets is a HUGE assest

Off Hand: Zunimassa String of Skulls

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Vit, Crit Chance, Increase Fetish Army Damage
    • * Part of the 4 Piece set that allows our Fetish Army pets to stay in combat until they die (Meaning they are no longer penalized by the 20 sec. De-spawn timer that normally happens when using this skill) .
    • * Pretty Much Non-negotiable

    Boots: Zunimassa

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Vit, Armor, All Res
    • * Part of the 4 Piece set that allows our Fetish Army pets to stay in combat until they die (Meaning they are no longer penalized by the 20 sec. De-spawn timer that normally happens when using this skill) .
    • * Pretty Much Non-negotiable

    Pants: Swamp Land Waders

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Vit, Socket(2)
    • * Increased Elemental Poison Damage (Up to 20%) on Pants slot
    • * Only Pants in game, that provide Poison Elemental Damage increase

    Belt:The Witching Hour

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Vit, Attack Speed, Critical Damage
    • * Attack speed, and Critical Damage, Best in Slot Belt for CarnEvil builds

    Chest: Zunimassa Marrow

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Vit, Socket(3), Increased Feitsh Army Damage
    • * Part of the 4 Piece set that allows our Fetish Army pets to stay in combat until they die (Meaning they are no longer penalized by the 20 sec. De-spawn timer that normally happens when using this skill) .
    • * Pretty Much Non-negotiable

    Bracer: Aughild's Search

    • * Stats Wanted: Int, Vit, Elemental Damage, Crit Chance
    • * Part of a 3 Piece set combination
    • * 2 Piece set= 7% Decreased damage from melee/ranged attacks**
    • * 3 piece set = 15% Increased Damage to elites, 15% Decreased Damage from elites.

Necklace: Hell Fire Amulet, Any Standard Legendary Necklace

    Hell Fire Amulet

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, Socket
    • * Stats wanted: Elemental Damage, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, Socket
    • * Provides an additional Passive bringing it up to 5 Passives running
    • **Acceptable Passives:**
    • * Pierce the Veil
    • * Fetish Sycophants
    • * Grave Injustice
    • * Spirit Vessel
    • * Gruesome Feast
    • * Jungle Fortitude

    Legendary Necklace

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, Socket
    • * Stats wanted: Elemental Damage, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, Socket
    • * Until you setup a Hell Fire Amulet, any Legendary Necklace will do with the right stats
    • * Preferably a necklace that provides additional mitigation to fire, lightning, ranged attacks etc. will be your best bet until you can craft that perfect Hell Fire Amulet.

    Skill build breakdown:

The only really skills that I can see that can be altered are as follow:

    Jungle Fortitude --> Spirit Vessel

    • * Decreases the cool-down of Horrify, and spirit Vessel
    • * Prevents us from getting one shotted, and provides more opportunities to use Horrify

    Jungle Fortitude --> Gruesome Feast

    • * Strong Dps increase
    • * Good candidate, for an additional passive, once we can lock down a Decent Hell Fire amulet

Zombie Dogs "Leech life" --> Mass Confusion, Gargantuan, Big Bad Voodoo

    • * Mass confusion provides more CC to the build
    • * Gargantuan with Big Stinker, provides a tank, and good enabler of Effacious toxin gem due to its AOE poison
    • * Big Bad Voodoo Provides Attack speed, and Damage increase

Their is a lot of variations that can go into the CarnEvil Build, with being said I believe these skills are non Negotiable:

    Skills

    • * Poison Darts
    • * Spirit Walk
    • * Piranhas
    • * Summon Fetish Army
This leaves 2 Debatable skills open for your choosing.

    Passives

    • * Pierce The Veil
    • * Fetish Sycophants
    • * Grave Injustice
This leaves 1 Debatable passive for your choosing.

    Active Skills:

    Spirit walk- "Jaunt"

    • * Extended time in the spirit realm by 3 seconds, sounds, straight forward choice here no surprise
    • * Will give us the flexibility, when we go against mobs, with jailer, frozen, waller etc.

    Fetish Army "Legion of daggers"

    • * Provides us 8 Fetish at 180% Weapon Damage
    • * Doesn't Matter that it is Physical Property, CarnEvil Converts the Physical to Poison Damage

    .
    Horrify "Frightening Aspect"

    • * 35% Armor Increase, will provide us additional toughness
    • * Provides us additional Crowd Control vs Elites, and trash mob packs
    • * With our CDR, Grave injustice, and Spirit Vessel this skill will be rarely off of cool down
    • * Triggers Bane of the Trapped Gem
    • * Triggers Efficacious Toxin Gem

    Piranhas- "Piranhado"

    • * 15% Damage increase on targets affected by Piranhas.
    • * Vortexes enemies into one area, enabling our Darts to pierce through multiple targets at once
    • * Triggers Bane of the Trapped Gem
    • * Triggers Efficacious Toxin Gem

Poison Darts- "Snake to the Face "

    • * This skill combines well with The Dagger of Darts
    • * Allows for every enemy hit by this skill, to be stunned
    • * Provides Stability, and Crowd Control to Trash packs, and Elites
    • * Triggers out Bane of the Trapped Gem
    • * Triggers Efficacious Toxin Gem

    Zombie Dogs "Leech Life"

    • * Zombie Dogs can tank mobs for us
    • * Leech life provides sustainability to the build, and helps us deal with Reflect mobs

    Passive Skills

    Pierce the Veil

    • * 20% increased damage, Everyone pretty much runs it,
    • * The increased mana cost is a pain, but as long as your smart about casting your spells, this really shouldn't be to much of an issue

    Grave Injustice

    • * 1% Hp/Mana restored, and 1 second reduction to all skills, per enemy killed.
    • * Greatly effects Piranhado, Horrify, and Spirit Walk so we can, get "Instant resets" on our skills cool downs

    Fetish Sycophants

    • * Generates Fetish up to 15 additional fetishes that will increase our Damage Dramatically
    • * Proc co-efficient with Poison Darts, will make it so we have 15 fetishes up constantly, bearing in mind out Attack Speed is high enough

    Jungle Fortitude

    • * Provides additional toughness for our pets, and ourselves
    • * Getting additional toughness through passive, opens up more DPS options in our gear.

    Legendary Gems

For the gem Selection I will list only the most common Gems that Witch Doctors use with this build.

For the CarnEvil Build I have my own personal setup, and the more commonly used by Most Witch Doctors.

    My Top 3 personal Gems

    • * 3.Enforcer
    • * 2.Gogok of Swiftness
    • * 1.Efficacious Toxin
General Top 3 Gems used by most Witch Doctors

    • * 3.Bane of the Trapped
    • * 2.Enforcer
    • * 1.Gogok of Swiftness

    Gem of Efficacious Toxin

    • * Base Effect: Poison all enemies hit for 2000% weapon damage over 10 seconds.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: +50% weapon damage over 10 seconds.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: All enemies you poison take 10% increased damage from all sources.
Efficacious Toxin gem is as self sufficient as it gets. The dot can be applied by damage you preform, or caused by your pets. The Dot scales with Increase Poison% property items, and since the dot is poison property it auto triggers the secondary effect. Since the CarnEvil build evolves around poison damage, running this gem is a viable and sensible option.

Skills we have that trigger it

    • * Poison Darts "Snake to the face"- Stun
    • * Horrify- Fear
    • * Piranhado- Stun
    • * Zombie Dogs

    Bane of the Trapped

    • * Base effect: Increase damage against enemies under control-impairing effects by 15%.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: +0.3% damage.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: Gain an aura that reduces the movement speed of enemies within 15 yards by 30%.
Overall If your looking for a good standard gem that works in pretty much all WD builds, this is it. The gem self-activates just by being in close proximity of a monster, in combination with other impairing effects. The damage is ACTUAL damage increase on the target, just as if your using piranhas or Strong Arm bracers, which is pretty awesome.

Skills we have that trigger it

    • * Poison Darts "Snake to the face"- Stun
    • * Horrify- Fear
    • * Piranhado- Stun

    Enforcer

    • * Base Effect: Increases the damage of your pets by 15%.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: 0.3% more pet damage per level.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: Your pets take 25% reduced damage.
Solid choice in any pet build. The secondary doesn't really make to big of a difference, but if you find your self running a build that uses Fetish Army, and Fetish Sycophants the 25% damage mitigation for pets really helps those builds especially through Greater Rifts. This gem along with Gogok of Swiftness I feel is non-negotiable.

    Gogok of Swiftness

    • * Base Effect: 50% chance on hit to gain Swiftness, increasing your Attack Speed 1% for 4 seconds. This effect stacks up to 15 times.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: +1% chance.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: Gain 1% Cool-down Reduction per stack of Swiftness.
For the Witch Doctor, Gogok is a solid gem choice for many builds. The attack speed helps with Fetish generation, and outputting damage with build such as the CarnEvil the secondary isn't the best but it isn't the worst either. In the Carnevil build, since Attack speed GREATLY effects the damage output of that build, gogok is a definite must. Non-negotiable.

Now that the formalities are out of the way:

    Jade Build Patch 2.1:

    Gearing list:

The gear list can be different between what you have, and what on the list. I've listed the most commonly used end game pieces that most people use in either group, or solo Greater Rift tier play. As long as you have good rolls on your gear, and farm on a semi regular basis obtaining these items isn't to difficult.

However the hardest items to get are as follows:

    • * 3.Quetzalcoatl
    • * 2.Hell Fire amulet (With good rolls)
    • * 1.Furnace

With that being said below here is the item list, with what I believe is the best items for that gear slot:

    Terminology: Key

    Skill build breakdown:

The only really skills that I can see that can be altered are as follow:

Pierce the Veil --> Gruesome feast

    • * Helps out the the mana problems of Jade Build, damage isn't permanent like Pierce the Veil, However health globes now provide us mana, and a stacking int buff that makes up for the 20% damage lost.

    Horrify ---> Zombie Dogs

    • * This variation occurs when using a one handed weapon, and the off Hand Uhkapian Serpent
    • * Outside of the Uhkapian Serpent, if you are not using this as your off hand, then you would still take Horrify over it.

    Active Skills:

    Spirit walk- "Jaunt"

    • * Extended time in the spirit realm by 3 seconds, sounds, straight forward choice here no surprise
    • * Will give us the flexibility, when we go against mobs, with jailer, frozen, waller etc.

    Soul Harvest- "Siphon"

    • * 20k HP back on all monsters harvested provides massive life sustain.

    Horrify "Frightening Aspect"

    • * 35% Armor Increase, will provide us additional toughness
    • * Provides us additional Crowd Control vs Elites, and trash mob packs
    • * With our CDR, Grave injustice, and Spirit Vessel this skill will be rarely off of cool down
    • * Triggers out Bane of the Trapped Gem

    Piranhas- "Piranhado"

    • * 15% Damage increase on targets affected by Piranhas.
    • * Vortexes enemies into one area, enabling our harvest to hit maximum targets
    • * Also this triggers our Strong Arm Bracers effect, which makes enemies effected by knock back effects take additional damage.
    • * Triggers out Bane of the Trapped Gem

    Haunt- "Resentful Spirits "

    • * Allows for our haunt to target 2 enemies at a time, as opposed to one
    • * Triggers out Bane of the Trapped Gem

    Locust Swarm- "Pestilence"

    • * Causes locust swarm to spread to two targets at a time instead of one
    • * Adds to the total harvested damage on targets
    • * A good method to trigger "Efficacious Toxin Gem" quickly

    Passive Skills

    Pierce the Veil

    • * 20% increased damage, Everyone pretty much runs it,
    • * The increased mana cost is a pain, but as long as your smart about casting your spells, this really shouldn't be to much of an issue
    Grave Injustice

    • * 1% Hp/Mana restored, and 1 second reduction to all skills, per enemy killed.
    • * Greatly effects Piranhado, Horrify, and Spirit Walk so we can, get "Instant resets" on our skills cool downs
    Creeping Death

    • * With Quetzalcoatl doubles the damage output of our dots, and extends our dots to 5 minutes.
    Spirit Vessel

    • * Upon our Death, we enter a Spirit walk state, this can occur once ever 90 seconds
    • * Also reduces the cool down of our Horrify, Soul Harvest, and Spirit walk by 2 Seconds

    Legendary Gems

For the gem Selection I will list only the most common Gems that Witch Doctors use with this build.

For the Jade Build the gem variation, everyone pretty much runs the same typical setup:

    My Top 3 personal Gems

    • * 3.Bane of the Powerful
    • * 2.Bane of the Trapped
    • * 1.Efficacious Toxin

General Top 3 Gems used by most Witch Doctors

    • * 3.Bane of the Powerful
    • * 2.Bane of the Trapped
    • * 1.Efficacious Toxin

For the Jade build the additional dot damage, and 10% increased damage from all sources contributes a lot of additional damage to this build.

    • * Haunt - Chill
    • * Horrify- Fear
    • * Piranhado- Stun

    Bane of the Powerful

    • * Base effect: Gain 20% increased damage for 30 seconds after killing an elite pack.
    • * Increase rank grants: +1 second buff duration.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: 15% Increased Damage to Elites.
Overall I feel that this gem is the most well rounded out of all gem selections. At rank 25 the duration is extended 55 seconds, at rank 35 65 Seconds, and at rank 50 80 seconds of 20% increased damage. Not mention the secondary effect adds 15% elite damage. Increased Elite damage, 20% Damage buff makes this gem choice a solid one for the Jade build.

    Tall Mans Finger Patch 2.1:

    Gearing list:

The gear list can be different between what you have, and what on the list. I've listed the most commonly used end game pieces that most people use in either group, or solo Greater Rift tier play. As long as you have good rolls on your gear, and farm on a semi regular basis obtaining these items isn't to difficult.

However the hardest items to get are as follows:

    • * 3.Hell Fire amulet (With good rolls)
    • * 2.Task, and Theo
    • * 1.Star Metal Kukuri

With that being said below here is the item list, with what I believe is the best items for that gear slot:

    Terminology: Key

    • * Int= Intelligence
    • * Vit= Vitality
    • * Attack Speed= Increased Item Attack Speed
    • * Critical Chance= Increased Critical Chance
    • * Critical Damage= Increased Critical Damage
    • * All Res = all Resistance
    • * Elemental Damage= Increase Fire/Cold/Lighting/Holy/Poison/Physical Damage
    • * LOH= Life on hit
    • * Increase skill Damage= I.E.: "Increase Fetish Army Damage"

    • * Stats wanted (alternative): Int, Crit Damage, Elite Damage, Socket

    Stone of Jordan

    • * Stats wanted: Int, Socket, Elite Damage, Elemental Damage

    Skill build breakdown:

The only really skills that I can see that can be altered are as follow:

    Piranhas

    • * Pirahnado- Is a Good alternative, but really needs to be run with Grave Injustice, if you already have a lot of toughness taking this kill with Grave injustice over zombie dog handler, can be a good alternative.
    Zombie Dog Handler

    • * Gruesome feast- If you want to generate extra damage, which will empower our dps scaling over to our pets.
    • * Jungle fortitude- If your really lacking toughness, this is another option you can pursue, but I'd still take Zombie Dog handler over it, but its my personal preference.

With that being said, the remaining skills, and or passive ones are kinda non-negotiable. However as I always like to tell people, if you prefer a personal skill over others you could always run with what your personal play style supports. With all that being said lets get into skill choices:

    Active Skills:

    Spirit walk- "Jaunt"

    • * Extended time in the spirit realm by 3 seconds, sounds, straight forward choice here no surprise
    • * Will give us the flexibility, when we go against mobs, with jailer, frozen, waller etc.

Zombie dog- "Rabid Dogs", "Leeching Beast", "Fire Dog"

    Rabid Dogs

    • * Poison Dot (3 second Duration) that Stacks
    • * Poison Dog hits an enemy two times in a row, each attack places its separate stack of the dot on the monster.
    • * Works well with Swamp Waders (increased Poison damage)
    Fire Dogs

    • * Strong AOE damage, per second to all enemies around the Zombie Dog
    • * Really good way to add AOE into this Pet Build, and get faster Trash clears

    Leeching Beast

    • * Good way to add additional sustainability in this build
    • * Strongest Option if you want to run Physical Damage property

Fetish Army (Poison, Fire, or Cold Property)

    • These Fetish will tank, provide extra DPS, and trigger out Star Metal Kukuri
    • Doesn't Matter Which property it is, just run w/e fits what element your building in your gear.

    Big Bad Voodoo- "Slam Dance"

    • * 30% Increased damage, on top of the 20% increased attack speed
    • * Combine this with Star Metal, and this spell turns into a permanent buff, that dramatically improves our DPS

    Fetish Army- "Tiki Torches"

    • * 7 fetishes, Fire property, and damage can be increase by: "Increase fetish army" Skill damage rune if wanted.

Plague of Toads "Rain of toads

    • * Highest proc co-efficient that generates Fetishes from Fetish Sycophants
    • * Damage does improve with Swamp Waders, but nothing to impressive here

    Pirahnas- "Frozen Pirahnas"

    • * Provides us Crowd Control, Damage Amp of 15%, and a chill effect to keep enemies away from us
    • * Only on a 8 second cool~down, since were not running grave injustice

    Passive Skills

    Pierce the Veil

    • * 20% increased damage, at the cost of 30% increased mana cost. Pretty much the staple in all WD builds
    • * Common passive used in 95% of all Witch Doctor Builds
    Zombie Handler

    • * Increases HP of our Zombie dog, Gargantuan, and personal HP by 20%
    • * +1 To Zombie dogs = More Dps for our Gargantuan Dog.
    • * Provides a good amount of toughness, and will help with our dogs surviving higher Tiered Greater Rifts

    Fetish Sycophants

    • * Generates Fetish, that will bring additional DPS, pets that can tank for us, and combo with Star Metal Kukri
    • * Proc co-efficient with Rain of toads, will make it so we have 15 fetishes up constantly

    Midnight Feast

    • * 50% increase Damage to Gargantuan, and Zombie Gargantuan Dog. Jerams + this skill = 120%-150% Increase damage total.
    • * +1 To Zombie dogs = More Dps for our Gargantuan Dog.
    • * Not much to say here, if only taking one Zombie Dog passive, this one by far is a must have

    Legendary Gems

For the gem Selection I will list only the most common Gems that Witch Doctors use with this build.

The only gems, at-least while running tallmans, that you should Defiantly consider are: Pain Enhancer, and Efficacious. Either of those gems should take up 1 of the 3 legendary gem spots, while the final two choices can be left up to personal preference.

    My Top 3 personal Gems

    • * 3.Bane of the Powerful
    • * 2.Enforcer
    • * 1.Efficacious Toxin

General Top 3 Gems used by most Witch Doctors

    • * 3.Bane of the Trapped
    • * 2.Enforcer
    • * 1.Pain Enhancer

    Pain Enhancer

    • * Base Effect: Critical hits cause the enemy to bleed for 1200% weapon damage as Physical over 3 seconds.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: +30% weapon damage.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: Gain Blood Frenzy, granting you 3% increased Attack Speed for each bleeding enemy within 20 yards.
This gem starts off a little slow, but by the time it begins to rich the higher ranks, is where this gem truly shines. The physical damage dot scales with Increase Physical% property items, and can be triggered by pets critical attacks. The secondary effect is a little lackluster, but is solid in builds that put you in close proximity of the enemies that you are fighting. Any pet build can benefit from this gem, but it may not always be the best option depending on what pet build it is.

    Enforcer

    • * Base Effect: Increases the damage of your pets by 15%.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: 0.3% more pet damage per level.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: Your pets take 25% reduced damage.
Solid choice in any pet build. The damage increase is counted as an "elemental" type, so it doesn't really maximize its damage potential with Jeram's Pet damage increase as it should. The secondary doesn't really make to big of a difference, but if you find your self running a build that uses Fetish Army, and Fetish Sycophants the 25% damage mitigation for pets really helps those builds especially through Greater Rifts.

After blizzard changed this gem to be trigger-able by pets, this gem is seeing a lot of use outside of just the typical jade build. Long story short: If your build is poison base, or your looking for a 10% damage increase across the board this is the gem for you.

For the Witch Doctor, Gogok is a solid gem choice for many builds, excluding Hexing pants, and Jade Builds. The attack speed helps with Fetish generation, and outputting damage with build such as Rhen'ho flayer, and Grin Reaper. the secondary isn't the best but it isn't the worst either. In the Carnevil build, since Attack speed GREATLY effects the damage output of that build, gogok is a definite must.

Not a personal gem I choose often myself, but even I have to admit this gem is probably the most solid over any gem, with the exclusion maybe of Bane of the Powerful

If your stuck on a 3rd option for a legendary gem choice, or want a gem that solid in any build this gem is defiantly it.

How about the most useful end-game WD build (zeroDPS)?
    Only in groups.

I usually solo, and only go carry run for groups, usually I'm carrying.

Just find it weird to devote all my skills, and gears to have Demon Hunters simply carry me thru content.

It is the best build when your in party, but again I just don't like it, and thats my choice. But their a tone of guides out their already about it.

Wo sad how overall this patch got outta hand

But I mean if you played a lot of other blizz games, balancing hasn't been their strongest area.

Next season (or "era" if you don't play seasons), with scaling back of some classes, no more pylons in GR , and mob density fixing issues.......

Thats why the popularity of this game dropped so dramatically, and with WOD coming out soon, were heading back into the "dark age" of diablo 3 again.

Oh well not like im gonna stop playing LOL

    My personal setup:

Bane of Power, Efficacious Toxin, Gogok

    And Debatable:

    Zei's, Enforcer, Gogok

So the only thing all CarEvil Wd's seem to agree on is, gogok

With the extra passive you can run Gruesome feast, which makes the damage of jade build sky rocket. At the end of the day doesnt really matter to much, once gear becomes closer with players on leaderboards, Greater rifts are all about RNG of mobs.

Hey guys I'm Debo, I Main the Witch Doctor class, ever since the beta for Diablo 3 Vanilla. Encouraging players to try out the Witch Doctor class, and enjoy Diablo 3 is my major focus. I started to do this by compiling my thoughts in guides, and streaming to provide information to those who seek it.

    My Twitch Tag: spsDebo (http://www.twitch.tv/spsdebo)

If allowed I'll be updating my guides through this post (if possible). If this isn't the place to post this type of information my apologies, I guess we will figure out another way.

    My armory Profile:

Here is a set of guides that I have so far, and many more to come:

How to approach the early game

Max level ---> Upgrade all Artisans ---> Initial Rare item set ---> Torment level 1 ---> Ring of Royal Granduer ---> Aughilds/Cains Set ---> Building towards Mid Game.

    Max level

    • Grinding Bounties until Level 70, or getting power level'd get to 70
    • The game "truly" begins at level 70, this is your first priority over everything else.
    • Save all Gold acquired while leveling
    • Pick up, and salvage all items, that are not upgrades
    • Don't bother with saving gems that are not marquise or higher (Lv 61+)

    +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+ +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+

    Upgrading all Artisans

If you have been saving all your gold, picking up everything and salvaging it, once you hit level 70 upgrading all artisans levels to max should be very easy. You won't be getting a lot of use out the Jewel crafting artisan just yet. Your focus should be in getting accustomed to the enchantress, and the black smith.

    Enchantress

    How she works:

    • * Myriam allows for one STAT roll on an item
    • * She will list what materials, and the gold amount it cost to do a re-roll on that specific stat of that item
    • * Primary stats can only be re-rolled for other primary Stats
    • * Secondary stats can only be re-rolled for other secondary stats
    • * Legendary items require 1 Forgotten soul per re-roll
    • * Legendary Jewelry (Rings/Amulets) will require a specific upgraded gem.
    • * Every re-roll increases the base-line cost of gold "EXCLUDING" Jewelry items (rings/amulets)

    Black Smith

    • * Haedrig allows for the Breaking down of items, and crafting of gear
    • * While defeating enemies their is a % chance for plans to drop
    • * To have Haedrig learn a new crafting plan, he must meet the appropriate artisan level, and you must right click the plan while you have the black smith window open.
    • * Crafting items require Gold, and Crafting mats
    • * Legendary items require 1-2 Forgotten souls per craft

    Jewel Crafter

    • * Shen allows for the combining, removal, and socketing of gear with gems.
    • * Marquise is the base level gem for all higher level gems
    • * Every 3 gems of the same type upgrade to (1) of the next level of gem, at higher levels though Deaths Breath is required along with the gold cost.
    • * I STRONGLY ADVISE, to not upgrade gems to quickly, or your gold will deplete very quickly.

    Ring of Royal Grandeur

What is the "Ring of Royal Grandeur?

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/ring-of-royal-grandeur-3qRFop

    How do I get one?

    • * You have a % chance to get one from openning Act 1 Bounty reward Cache Bag from Tyrael
    • * You can also get it from act 4 Bounty bags, but your chances are dramatically increased in act 1

Do you mean to tell me their are act specific legendaries for each act?!?!

    Yep here it is:

    http://www.diablowiki.net/Horadric_Cache

    Why do I need it?

It reduces the set cost bonuses by 1 I.E. a 3 piece set bonus of 500 int, would only require 2 pieces as long as the ring is equipped.

THE BIG TWO CATEGORIES FOR FETISH

    Fetish Sycophants -Passive Skill-

Skills that proc the Passive the Best:

    • * Toads- "Rain of Toads"
    • * Firebats
    • * Poison Darts
    • * Corpse Spiders
    • * Firebomb

    Facts about fetish psychopaths "Passive"

    • * These fetishes are not effected by Zunimassa Set
    • * They are whatever elemental property is your highest, within your build
    • * If they shoot Darts Via Carnevil, their dmg property is Poison
    • * They are NOT effected by "Increase Fetish Army Damage"
    • * They are considered "Pets", and can benefit from Mask of Jeram/ Task Theo Gloves.
    • * Compared to Summon Fetish Army, these fetishes die fairly easily

    Fetish psychopaths -Summon Fetish Army-

    • * These fetishes ARE effected by Zunimassa Set
    • * These fetish NO LONGER CONFLICT with the Passive ones
    • * Have a much higher viability then the Passive fetishes
    • * W/E the run is set to I.E.: Fire, ALL fetishes that are summoned from it ARE in fact that element

These are the elements skills that are possible:

    • * They can be Physical Property
    • * They can be Poison Property
    • * They can be Fire Property
    • * If they shoot Darts Via Carnevil, their dmg property is Poison "It overrides w/e property they are currently set to."
    • * They ARE effected by "Increase Fetish Army Damage"
    • * They are considered "Pets", and can benefit from Mask of Jeram/ Task Theo Gloves.

    Final things you should remember

    • * Fetishes Can die "From monster damage, time expiring*
    • * Recasting Summon Fetish Army, Replaces the current FA on the field of battle, and leaves the ones from passive alive
    • * Fetishes From the gibbidin do NOT apply to the Fetishes you generate via the passive, or the Skill. They are however affected from mask of Jeram (90% sure of this), but they can't critical hit.
    • * Fetishes Can benefit from Big Bad Vodoo, and other classes "buffs" They are considered allies.
    • Belt of Transcendence Fetish are the same as Fetish Sycophants
    • Fetish Sycophants take on whatever elemental Property that is the highest on your gear set.

    Legendary Gems

I will be listing the most commonly used Gems for Witch Doctor Only

Legendary gems were implemented in patch 2.1, to further power up your characters

    • * Leg.Gems Can only be placed in Rings, Amulets
    • * So you can only have 3 Leg.Gems at once
    • * Gems will be leveled up through Urshi, who appears after you kill the Greater Rift Guardian
    • * Every level upgraded on the gems, increases the primary effect slightly
    • * Secondary Effects are unlocked at level 25
    • * killing a Rift Guardians grants you 3 Chances to upgrade your gem.
    • * Each successful upgrade= 1 increase in rank

Commonly used Witch Doctor Legendary Gems:

    Bane of the Powerful

    • * Base effect: Gain 20% increased damage for 30 seconds after killing an elite pack.
    • * Increase rank grants: +1 second buff duration.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: 15% Increased Damage to Elites.

Overall I feel that this gem is the most well rounded out of all gem selections. At rank 25 the duration is extended 55 seconds, at rank 35 65 Seconds, and at rank 50 80 seconds of 20% increased damage. Not mention the secondary effect adds 15% elite damage. If your stuck on a 3rd option for a legendary gem choice, or want a gem that solid in any build this gem is defiantly it.

After blizzard changed this gem to be trigger-able by pets, this gem is seeing alot of use outside of just the typical jade build. Long story short: If your build is poison base, or your looking for a 10% damage increase across the board this is the gem for you.

    Simplicity

    • * Simplicity’s Strength
    • * Base Effect: Increase the damage of primary skills by 25%.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: +0.5% damage.
    • *Rank 25 unlocks: Primary skills heal you for 2% of maximum health on hit.
    • Simplicity gem below rank at rank 25+ works tremendously well with Rhen'ho Flayer, and Grin Reaper Poison builds. Addling toads, Explosive Toads, Spider Queen, and Rain of toads are definitely the way to go when using this gem. If you need LOH, but don't want to sacrifice stats on your gear to achieve this, Simplicity can provide that with its secondary 2% of your Health as life on hit effect.

    Gogok of Swiftness

    • * Base Effect: 50% chance on hit to gain Swiftness, increasing your Attack Speed 1% for 4 seconds. This effect stacks up to 15 times.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: +1% chance.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: Gain 1% Cooldown Reduction per stack of Swiftness.

    Boon of the Hoarder

    • * Base Effect: 25% chance to cause an explosion of gold when you kill an enemy.
    • * Upgrade rank grants: +1.5% chance on kill.
    • * Rank 25 unlocks: Gain 30% increased movement speed for 2 seconds after picking up gold.
    • * Drops only from Greed, found in The Vault. The only gem that doesn't drop from Grift Guardians.

    **Ice blink (Season 3 Exclusive)**

    • * Your Cold skills now apply Chill effects and your Chill effects now slow enemy movement speed by an additional 5%
    • * The additional movement speed reduction is increased by .4% per rank
    • * At rank 25 you gain 10% increased chance to critically strike Chilled or Frozen enemies

This combined with Bane of the Trapped shall yield some very interesting results. Also depending on how well the movement speed reduction scales could literally leave enemies standing in their place unable to come directly at you. The 10% Crit chance is also nice, meaning you could drop Crit chance of some pieces of your gear, and run other stat affix's.
