posted a message on Problematic Public Problems

All Blizzard has to do is to nerf the "meta" continuesly so that all classes are accepted.

Balance things so that all need to be DPS, zDPS/support is just not really what a Hack'n'Slash is about.

Diablo never had roles, there is no mentioning of it anywhere, but in forum posts of the metakids.

Other players should always be happy to have you join regardless of what class you play.

posted a message on Banwave for botters incoming ?

Well the cheaters claim they not cheat for the leaderboards, but that they "only enjoy pushing GRifts" and for that reason they think they should be legitimately freed from the rest of the grind. Like a marathon runner who only enjoys the sprint of the last 100 meters, and should be allowed to take a taxi the remainig kilometers.

They could just flag all their accounts so they are not appearing on the leaderboards, then we could see how much truth there are to what they claim.

The Banwaves over the years in Diablo 2 never hurt the playerbase even when massive amounts got banned.

posted a message on Open Letter against Botting

All the diablo games has been about the loot or gear (and slaying monsters for it).

This grind is what seperates the ARPG from MMOs (like any casual could grind mobs anywhere for the best (Mythic) gear in a MMO.)

Botting has been a problem before paragon levels and isn't tied to those directly, but the Paragon-level do give somewhat of an indication of whom may be using such cheats.

The odd part is why those who sign this want other cheats to be treated differently.

"Please punish the obvious cheaters (botters), but don't punish the other cheaters (thuddders)."

The Warden software can and should flag any who use those well known cheat programs.

And Blizzard should ban them all, there is no good reason to let some cheaters go unpunished.

I wish I could blacklist everyone that just leaves public GR as soon as they die or feel they won't get as carried as they would prefer.

posted a message on Witcher 3 got runewords

Runewords, with the d2-model, was very awesome indeed.

Sadly Blizzard did not parse the feedback on them properly, and they chose to not implement them in D3.

The problem in D2 was how they were by far the most powerful gear you could get. (a balance issue)

They neglect how the runeword system provided a "long-term" goal to work towards, and with that added some longevity.

Either this is just to satisfy the need for instant-gratification for the facebook-generation of gamers, or the D3 devs share their views.

posted a message on This Banwave is a joke imo

    "Schadenfreude ist die Beste Freude"

There is alot of truth to this, and it's very suitable and pleasant in this setting.

That alot of players feel of rejoice and happyness, over the misfortune of the ones caught exploiting is just a good sign.

About the bans, it's a small and slow step in the right direction.

Hopefully Blizzard picks up the pace with the banhammer for bots, huds and whatnots.

posted a message on Why do people do full clears on regular Rifts?

It still seems to me, that some rifts grant you way more legs than others. (rifts or group members)

When I get such a rift where legs continuously drop for me, I naturally like to complete it.

But with a group I'd respect whatever reason people may have for wanting what they do.

People play games to have fun, not everyone thinks squeezing in as many runs in an hour as possible is the most fun way to play.

If you look at the big picture, even in games like WoW, addons have a negative effect in addition to enhancing gameplay.

Especially when it comes to the competitive aspects, they quickly become mandatory.

There is a good reason why the arena tournaments have huge limitations to what UI mods the contenders can use.

I have played the diablo franchise for a very long time, since long before hacks, bots, mods became an issue in d2. And I've had numerous accounts banned from b.net due to cheating in various ways, and I'm happy with that aswell.

I really don't want to see the same story that happened with Diablo 2 repeat itself in this game. But unless Blizzard starts to handle all exploiters and cheaters more harshly than they have so far - the point of no return in this context will be upon us next season I'm sure.

The season and leaderboards is about a competitive environment in an equal and leveled playingfield.

There can be no doubt that using any 3.party tools to get more, better or just information up front gives benefits that violates the idea, and eula.

Blizzard really need to up their governance.

Voicing things on this forum seem to be the better place if you actually have any hope of reaching some attention @blizz.

Think people that are highly involved in a community like diablofans, should take the moral high ground and consider what is best for the game. This community should have a zero tolerance policy for such cheating and exploiting, due to being so prominent.

"The creator of thud and the people modding it and releasing it for the public have done more good to the community than any other random complainer on the forums." -

    - Just No! - Any kind of 3.party applications that give any kind of advantage is cheating without exceptions. - "Even if it makes your game better."

The creator of THUD may have screwed legit players more than any other random complainer.

    From the EULA :

You agree that you will not, under any circumstance :

    2.2 : Use cheats, automation software (bots), hacks, or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the Game experience, including without limitation, mods that violate the terms of this License Agreement or the Terms of Use;

    2.4 : Use any unauthorized third-party software that intercepts, "mines", or otherwise collects information from or through the Game or the Service, including without limitation any software that reads areas of RAM used by the Game to store information;

It's really hard too see how THUD or similar applications violates those terms ?

People with such ideas can post them like others do as suggestions for implementations.
