Sounds like there are some others with mature adult clans, I'll add ours to the mix as well. We have a good crew who play all levels, difficulties, and characters. Teampseak 3 and active forums in case you want to take a break from Diablo and play some Xbox or Playstation (crazy as that sounds...).

Hit me up in game if you want, Fat#1720. Alternatively, anyone who is interested can request membership in our clan, The Adult Gamer, as it's currently accepting new members to join :)

posted a message on Odd set drop rate experience - need more data
I think perhaps it felt like worse RNG than it really is because the first handful of days I played myself and my clan members were actually finding these set pieces, and that has just totally dried up where nobody is getting anything... :D

All in good time, I agree that the anticipation is part of the fun

    Quote from Norroar
I found the Natalya's crossbow on my way to Skeleton King, after having reset the game. It was in Wortham off a cultist.

Chances are, you're just very unlucky. I also had a friend who got Tal Rasha's neck from the guaranteed SK drop after resetting quests - so it's very much possible.
Thanks. Just really weird bad luck then, oh well :)

posted a message on Odd set drop rate experience - need more data
I have had a strange experience with the drop rate of class set-items (Inna's, IK, etc) and wanted to see if others had similar experiences or if I'm just observing a strange anomaly.

Essentially, in the last week since I've been resetting quests to re-do the story, I have not seen a single IK set item drop, despite completing the story at least 4 times in that week. Now, this could just be RNG and that's fine. But many of my clan members have also been resetting and none of them have gotten one of their class set items to drop in that time either.

This is either highly improbable or there is some kind of weird bug that prohibits class set items from dropping until the game has been complete.

What I'm wondering and need help is to see if anyone around here has noticed similar behavior. Has anyone gotten their set item to drop while quests weren't complete?

Any input and information on this would be extremely helpful

posted a message on When will you start your HC journey in RoS?
With the expansion announced, but still lacking some details, I'm wondering what everyone's early thoughts are around when they might start their journey into the new content with their HC characters.

I'm worried about a couple of things to just start right when it launches: one is server lag, the other is being in a completely new situation and not having any knowledge at all of what is coming my way.

I have two 60 characters, so it's possible I could go through with the "low" paragon level character first, then switch to my primary once I feel comfortable.

The server lag is my biggest concern for the first week of even trying to do HC. I wonder how stable things will be or if there will be lag/disconnects similar to the first week of playing the game back when it first came out. I'd much rather tear through in Core and then wait for things to settle down... but I strongly prefer hardcore nowadays.

Anyone else been thinking about this? What are your plans?

Am I the only one hoping people sell their old gear so I can scoop up some cheap upgrades for my various alts? :)

I think it took me until around paragon 40 or 50 to start feeling comfortable with a whirlwind spec. Granted, some of that was because I was playing before the new crated patterns were out. Those were a big help in improving my gear. Previous to whirlwind, I went super tank build with revenge and rend. Things took a long time to die, but I was able to clear MP1/2 without any real problems. I also played with a witch doctor a ton, so that helped to have a bit of extra dps around.

One other thing I did early on was stack life on hit and life per second pretty heavily. Think at one point I was at 1,000 LoH and 2,000 LPS. Made me feel very confident that even with a DC I would still have a good chance of being alive (my barb did survive several disconnects and bad server lag).

After more hours than I'd care to admit, my Barbarian has reached 100!

While I'm certainly not the first to reach it, it feels good. I lived through several disconnects and some pretty scary moments - especially early on when my gear was pretty bad.

Good luck to all those still working your way towards 100 :)

posted a message on Public games in HC how safe are they?
I've been playing some public games since patch and have had both great experiences and some pretty mediocre ones. If you get a good group that stays together and has the DPS for the content, you can certainly farm as efficiently or even more efficiently than playing solo. However, if you get people afk, poor dps, or lone wolf styles it can really slow you down.

In terms of getting PK, I haven't yet experienced anyone trying to kill me. You can tell if someone is in combat now over their banner, so that helps. Just don't port on anyone until they're out of combat. However, that doesn't stop people from amassing tons of enemies outside a doorway and waiting for you to walk outside.

I would say that if you're really concerned but still want to try a public game, start your own. That way you know it's a fresh game and anything that happens from that point forward should be fairly obvious to you and allow for a quick escape.

I would suggest you try hardcore. Sure, some people play to win in hardcore as well. I've seen fresh 60s with crazy good gear that was purchased after trading SC for HC gold from someone. I've seen very few of these plays hit high paragon levels, because they fall by the wayside and lose all that gear that wasn't earned through steady play and acceptance of risk.

Or, play your game and try not to be overcome by jealousy of the amazing things others can achieve by taking shortcuts.

Hm... stunning them is nice with Death from Above. Toppling Impact feels good for a more heavyset minded barb, jumping around like a bowling ball and knocking everything away - but it's a bit of a pain to play like that.

I always liked Call of Arreat. Land, grab everything right next to you, overpower, charge out, and call it a day.

Also depends on the type of berserker... to me I think of an axe throwing berserker. So a little weapon throw is never a bad thing either.

Too many skills... too few slots... :)

I'd try to incorporate leap in there. Nothing says berserker to me like leaping into battle and just going crazy

posted a message on (Hardcore) Upgrade Advice - Mobs in MP1 Hit Too Hard
Definitely get a high resist shield if you can, with good block chance. I don't know what your budget is like, but if you are lucky you can find a really good stormshield in the 300-500k range (I got a 28% block for 250k a while back). Otherwise, a good sacred shield with AR, Strength, and some vitality will help you out a lot.

One other item to try and find is a belt with life leech. While your damage isn't quite high enough yet to take full advantage, as you scale your dps that extra life will be great.

You amulet now is good but not great. If you have the resources, try crafting a few more of those. If you get really lucky you might be able to craft an AR, LoH, Life regen amulet. Given your current health pool, maybe try for a high vitality amulet for now until you get some more vitality on gear (will also make switching shields to one without vitality easier)

posted a message on WTF is it with all the "party build" threads lately?
Party builds and thinking about your group make sense. Why have 3 barbarians all giving a war cry when you could have threatening shout, war cry, and ground stomp?

In hardcore, party builds and thinking about getting a cohesive group can allow you to safely farm higher MP than you might otherwise be able to handle. So yeah, it makes a lot of sense.

I was a WW barb in group games and it wasn't fun for me and it wasn't fun for people I played alongside. Every time a WW joins my game I groan. Constantly running around like crazy ahead of the group and off the screen, never keeping together with everyone else, and typically the ones who play that way aren't even killing mobs themselves (not always, but a lot of the time this seems to be the case).
